Any way to check Xbox Live code without redeeming?

I purchased NFS: Hot Pursuit used today. The guy was not sure if the online pass code was used already. I was just wondering if anyone knows a way to check if the code is still valid without redeeming it.

In other words, the code is redeemed as soon as it is entered into Xbox Live and displays what the code is for, correct? I know I always need to click on another button "Download Now" (or some such thing), which is why I have the question.
 
you can call the 800 number for xbox customer support, read them the code and they'll confirm if it's valid, used, not used, etc.
 
Enter the code. If it prompts you to download, it's unused. If it says it's been used, it's been used. If it prompts you to download and you hit cancel, the code is unused and will still be valid.
 
If you input the code on Xbox.com it goes in automatically but if you enter the code on your XBox is will prompt you to make sure if you want to use it.
 
I redeemed something from the web and after entering it was just identified and confirmed. I guess the only way to have that is if you already own the content and you're trying to redeem it twice

 
I've had the website ask me a couple times to confirm a code before using it. Not sure if it's certain codes, but the site definitely gives you the same "Are you sure?" prompt.
