Hello everyone,

I bought a NewEgg gaming rig a while back, which was equipped with a crap MoBo, imo. I've had problems with blue screens, memory compatibility issues, and I read for multiple sources that it's actually discontinued with little to no updates for the BIOS, etc. It's one of those motherboards that was made cheapily and on a budget, and is thrown into premade PCs so that at least some are sold.

Just looking for a recommendation of a new MoBo that'll be compatible with my other hardware and will actually let me run some DDR3 RAM at the 1600MHz that it's made for, and not some cheap 1333Mhz that it's limited to by the crap MoBo I got with my gaming rig.

I'm a little technically savvy, but please don't be hesitant to treat me like a noob, because I'd hate for my technical knowledge to be over-estimated. Thanks to all who help me out, I really appreciate it. =]

You really don't have a lot of options for a P55 board. this one, maybe?

do you want/need xfire/sli? also whats your budget?

this biostar board seems comparable to what you have now
http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813138162

if you want to move up to a x58 board this asrock is probably the best value
http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813157163

I am guessing you are out of warranty from Cyperpower. Did you always have issues with the motherboard? (eg did it ever clear memtest etc?) If it suddenly got worse you can see if a capacitor got blown. That would be an easy and cheaper fix if you are comfortable soldering a new one in.

That asrock board is socket 1366, and his proc is 1156. Not compatible.

It was bad from day 1. I don't need the crossfire/SLI option, since I'll only have 1 video card. Just need a card that is compatible with DDR3 1600MHz and my Intel i5 650 Clarkdale 3.2GHz, oh and it has to have a PCI-e slot for my video card. Basically any MoBo, not necessarily a P55 series, that is compatible with the rest of the hardware listed on my computer's NewEgg product page. Looking to spend anything less than or equal to $120 (subtotal). Thanks again. :)

EDIT: Don't want to try to warranty the MoBo, I want to get rid of it completely. It's plaguing my computer. =[

Was looking at that one, but would like to spend a little less, if I can. Did this thread more to see if anyone knew of any good deals/good motherboards that are compatible with my processor. I just don't want to dive head-first into a new MoBo and have another problem.

you could step down to an H series board (H55/H57) if you don't mind giving up some features and not being able to overclock that well
http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813157190

You would be missing out on USB3 and SATA6 when compared to the ASUS board.

Meh... Only 2 RAM slots (forgot to add that I have 4 sticks of RAM that I want to fill the new MoBo up with). I guess I'll save up for this. Does everyone else agree that this is probably my best bet? If not, any better alternatives?
