I was waiting on the phone with a EA guy and he got me a code, so it's all good now! And now I've got a pretty funny story lol


What number did you use as I also signed up for the phone contact but have not heard from them yet. Jose is no help now and says I need to contact Best Buy for that content. If I have to drive back to Best Buy to get my code, I might as well return the game then as I have already wasted enough time in these queues and do not want to waste more time and gas to get what I should have had to begin with.

I sat waiting 30min for chat support and person never typed when they got in room so had to restart timer which was bull. Sh?@ so instead I waited on phone for best buy gaming and the lady on there gave me a code over phone so worst case sit on phone with best buy for an hour and get your code

It took them about 20 minutes to call me. I'm hoping this code he sent me is for Best Buy DLC. I guess some eBay person will find out in about a week.


EA must really hate me then as I started the call me thing before I waited in that last queue. It does surprise me that they would rather I return the game then to just give me the code I was supposed to get when it is obvious they still are giving them out to people.

So what is the bottom line with Best Buy, is the code on the receipt or by email?


Code should be on receipt. The code has a sku, so they have to do 1 of 3 things:

1) manually type in the sku and add it

2) scan a barcode that is by most cash registers that adds the sku

3) after scanning BF3 they need to hit F10 (which is suggested items) and add the sku that way.

After that it will show on your receipt is "DIG" something and will have it's own sku. The code will be underneath this 2nd item

Got game at midnight release. Had code on my receipt and in my email within 1/2 hour of purchase but it was for the dog tags. Went to EA chat and after 30 minutes got a rep who made me upload a picture of my manual with the online code, my name and date on it. He than made me upload a copy of my receipt. But in the end I got my code

As a warning, supposedly to get the sku they have to return/rebuy. Which could jack up the 5/$100. So as always keep your receipt.

I would suggest if they have to return/rebuy then wait 3 days then contact mike
Or Kyle on the BBY forums telling them the situation and to check and make sure that everything is fine. Takes them about 48-72 hours to get back with you, but they have been doing awesome.

Preordered BF3 online with in-store pickup. I went to the midnight release, but no code on the receipt. However, I got an email for the bonus, and it was the SPECACT kit. No dog tags.

I finally had success by having EA Support call me but it has only taken about 2 hours to finally get this issue resolved.

By the end of the year it looks like Best Buy will have these sort of issues corrected since they are going with the codes on the receipt like Gamestop and Battlefield 3 is the first game for them to use that method so that is why the workers were really clueless.

Or this is the 2nd time. Forza had it on receipt.

BAC had it inside the box, so hard to screw that up. M$ messed that one up by not activating the code when it should have

They never emailed that one as it was inside the package. My local Best Buy still have copies with it on the shelves.

It was not in mine for some reason... I was bummed bigtime

Man...I should have gone with Amazon. I've spent a good part of the day dealing with this. Called EA twice and was mysteriously disconnected.

Waited in EA support chat twice. First guy I think had an aneurysm and died or something. The second person...well... I'll let you read the chat log below:

Classic, WV! I guess two codes is better than none, even if neither is the one you were trying to get.

Hey, is there a way to just verify what's actually on a DLC code on the PS3 without redeeming it, like you can on the Xbox, or will it be auto-applied?

Keep your Slick Deal scams to yourself and don't post them here. Use the EA Support to get the item you were supposed to, not to make a profit on Ebay unless you plan to give those codes out in the Xbox Code Giving thread for free.

Ah man. I waited like hours to speak with someone in an online chat. I can only imagine how long i would have to wait to speak with someone on the phone. :cry:
