thanks parker. Last year B&N had the Austin Powers trilogy on blu for really cheap (I believe $11?)

I think there were a couple of other deals but I know that's the only one I bit on

Pardon me for asking, since I don't remember, but will prices update in my cart in accordance to the BF lightning deals/sales going live? It would be nice to dump everything I'm targeting into my cart now and have them right there to pull the trigger should they go on sale.

funny you ask, because I honestly don't remember... I don't think anything sold THAT quickly... except for that whole Kindle fiasco but that was a lightning deal.

Come on Paul, Willy Wonka 50th anniversary edition, and Captain America!!

agreed!

There was the Batman Anthology, TMNT box set, and Spiderman Trilogy too :) I bit on the Spiderman and TMNT box sets.

Nothing to report, but worth mentioning a ton of BDs dropped in price overnight at Amazon with the majority being Family oriented and a few Disney movies. Nothing really sticks out but might be worth it to some to look through.

It's not a countdown to BF, it's for the entire week of BF. I don't think they had that last year, did they?

If I had to bet on a few movies to be cheap on Black Friday, I would guess Green Lantern, Green Hornet, and Transformers 3.

There usually is one Disney movie cheap, I would guess Mars Needs Moms. Maybe Winnie the Pooh. I expect to see Lion King, Beauty & the Beast Blurays for around $19.

I've purposefully haven't bought any of the new releases that have come out or will come out in the next few weeks in hopes that some of those will be on sale on Black Friday.

I would love another LOTR fiasco, only now with Star Wars

Not me. I don't want to buy those movies and that box set for, say $20 would be tempting, possibly tempting enough to override my anger at the tweaks.

as many have said in the video game deals forum, at this point, movies will still be in the return window if something were to be on sale on Black Friday.

You know, after watching Jurassic Park last night I have to wonder if the source was just grainy or what because the transfer starts off as horrendously grainy and then looks gorgeous in other shots. I mean, we're talking X-Files on DVD grain bad so I don't know what to make of it. The review I read on it didn't even mention it, but I can't see this as a purposeful technique for a film like this so it was a real letdown and distracting. Sad thing is, the other two shitty films are probably perfect.

wow.. the blu-ray review didn't make any mention of this from what I remember at least... I love the Jurassic Park movies, but wasn't willing to pay $50 since they'll probably be cheaper on black friday.

that's really depressing though :(

Yeah, I'm having buyer's remorse now, even though I scored the SB exclusive for ~$50. I'm really baffled why the review didn't even talk about it all. Maybe the exclusion of heavy DNR was a hint? Lol, IDK.

I was VERY close to grabbing the steelbook but then heard is wasn't great in terms of quality.. how is it?

Well first of all, it's DVD-sized SB so that might piss off people with shelves that can't accommodate it or hate inconsistency. Second, it is very cheaply made and has no art inside other than the embossing and movie poster credits opposite page of it (this to me made very little sense to me lol). As I said before, the embossing warps the metal so you can make popping sounds with the cover. And on a minor note, it's a piano black finish so fingerprint magnet each time you handle it.

I'll admit it was an impulse buy since I was able to get a PM and I like that it's the only version with DVDs included as well. It's really only for diehard collector's sake at this point.

Yeah, not having art on the inside kind of killed it for me :\

Does anyone remember if the Amazon deals were all week long or time sensitive? Last year I waited till friday morning to purchase but I noticed no new sale (except for gold box of course). I'm wondering if it's even worth it to wait until Friday anymore.

All week, and usually the deals run for like 4 hours long if I'm not mistaken.

Alright so basically if we get a list of the Gold Boxes again like last year, I shouldn't have to worry about buying the dvd's I want at the beginning of the week.
