Very similar to the point we're at now. If you WANT to have a secondary team, you're welcome to (but people shouldn't take one if they're going to have a hard time playing those games). If you're scheduled to play an open team, you CAN request a sub if you want to. But you don't have to. I would also be fine with moving us up to a 3 day advancement schedule if everybody is on board with that.

I guess my concern would be that if secondary teams start to lose interest they'll be hard to connect with. I know they're being told not to take one, but I think it'll get more difficult as the season goes along. I'm thinking I might try to come back for another season, just trying to size up whether I have the time.

Fuck this fucking piece of shit game. Anybody who thinks this is a "good football game" is a god damned retard. As mentioned in the other league thread, play actions are fucking worthless. Even when I've broken off 3 straight 8+ yard runs, there is ZERO bite on the fake handoff. Without a speed back to keep the defense honest, your QB is just sitting back there waiting to get skull fucked into oblivion. And oh, lucky me, both of my speed backs are out for the season because of broken collarbones that morphed in abdominal tears. Eat my shit, Madden.

At this point, I honestly think I'd prefer to play the CPU. At least then, when I get MF (see: Madden Fucked), I don't have displaced anger to deal with. Seriously, I have to deal with a fumble to kill a drive and several INTs that Brees threw RIGHT AT Bears defenders. Meanwhile, Jay Cockler and Matt $$$te are impervious to mistakes. And then I'm like...getting mad at Superstar for it, lol. It's not his fault. His team just didn't Fuck up. It's as random as the coin toss at the beginning of the game. Blow my fucking ass, EA.

I have to ask again, would anyone be opposed to playing with injuries off for season 3. Maybe I'm just too old to view stupid, random, bullshit occurrences completely fucking up your season being considered "fun". The way things stand now, I feel like I completely wasted my time with this season. That just doesn't have anything to do with fun or competition in my opinion.

EDIT - And now that I'm looking at all the fucks in my post, I think it would be hilarious if Cheapy changed that image to this one.

I like the Bears roster a lot. They we're fun. Jay Cutler did make a lot of mistakes.. for 3 quarters he could hardly nail a receiver. I won that game with luck. Roy Williams of all people happened to be wide open for the game winning touch down.

I do love those under a minute situations where a touchdown wins the game though. It makes it for some exciting game play.

Yeah, Cutler was so bad that even my defenders couldn't catch balls he threw right at them...uh-huh...uh-huh... Just saying, would have been a different game if my top 2 RB's (and my #2 CB for that matter) weren't out with injuries. You also have to recognize you had nothing to lose in that game. It's always fun just free balling in sub games with nothing at stake.

Jeez Nate chill.

Most of the passes I throw are PA, and I don't really have that problem.

Turning the injuries off would be ok, but it's hurting everyone else as much as you. I'd rather leave them on.

You really can't blame everything that happens to you on the CPU, I had Brees in the other league, threw a million INTs and realized I had to rethink my offense, and now I don't really throw that many. If you are always airing it out, you are always gonna get picked.

Injurys do suck! I fell like I got fucked outta a couple wins when AP went down, and I lost my rookie OLB in week 2 for most of the season, but that being said I feel like it makes the game at least a small amount more realistic. I would be okay with injuries on or off next year.

How about those final spots in the NFC playoffs looks like a tight race. Should be interesting week. The Vikings-Chiefs game should kick off around 9 cst tonight so it will be a little more clear who's in and who's out after that.

Also, who won POW last week?

LOL...Brees has one of the highest pass accuracies in the game. If you can't pass with him, but have success with Tavaris Jackson or somebody...the game is Posted Imageing BROKEN. The problem was most likely that as you've admitted, you like to roll out and pass on the run. That's not Brees' game..nor is it how I use him. As for not airing it out all the time, no shit. But since my top two running backs are out for the season, it's not too difficult to force my hand there.

I get that everybody has to deal with injuries. It's just ruining my desire to continue playing. I wasn't kidding about being too old for this crap. I don't get much time to play games anymore. If I invest my time playing through a season, just to have it get completely Posted Imageed by multiple season long injuries (one I could deal with...but 3 starters come the Posted Image on!) If others have the patience to have solid play ruined by factors out of their control, good for them, I guess. But if I lose multiple starters to injuries again in season 3, I'm likely done with this game.

I didn't really roll out with Brees too much near the end when I was throwing tons of picks.

There is also the downward spiral factor that if you start playing like shit in Madden, the shit piles on to the point where you start blaming the game for everything. It's the same game everyone else is playing, and not everyone has the offensive issues you are having. (I've had them, re-worked my offensive plan, and now I've been free from throwing 3+ INTs a game, for awhile now).

Just saying that the game is not the only one to blame, you have to learn to play with the game, not against it.

My current offensive playing is far from perfect, but it is light years ahead of where it was in the last few seasons of the regular league. If you continue to lose the same ways, maybe you gotta figure out where Madden screws you, and eliminate that part of your offense. Don't give Madden the satisfaction of screwing you.

Green Bay tops Denver 21-14 to secure a playoff spot. Now I've got to wait and see what happens to the Vikings tonight. If they lose, I'm division champ again.

As far as injuries go, I'm all for turning them off. I was without Aaron Rodgers for 6 weeks, and I'll be missing 3 of my defensive starters for the playoffs: Desmond Bishop, BJ Raji, and Sam Shields, who had 5 interceptions and 8 sacks as a nickelback.

I feel like you're just entirely missing the point. I had COMPLETELY changed my offense to not rely on the pass so heavily this season. I found running plays that worked well, and was able to keep a lot of teams off balance by showing very similar looks, but running different plays out of them, which benefited both my running and passing game, by not being overly dependent on either one.

But when your #1 and #2 running backs are lost for the season due to injury...and your next option just doesn't have the speed to cut it, instead of 3rd and 3's where you can strongly think about running the ball, you're getting 3rd and 8's, where your opponent can pretty much count on you to be passing it. This imbalance leads to forced throws, lots of punts, and playing from behind...where you just have to naturally be more reckless.

I can 100% blame the game for Posted Imageing my offense due to those injuries. I've had to play a completely different style of football because of them. I HAD a running game. I HAD figured out the parts of my offense where Madden screwed me and eliminated them from my offense. But when both parts of that solution are lost to injury, it kinda puts me back at square one again. With no running game, I HAVE to throw the ball.

You can blow smoke up EA's ass all you want, but injuries just happen way too often and they turn a forum of competition into a game of dice. I agree that injuries add "realism". But if the game gets the frequency with which they happen wrong, it's no longer realistic. Can anybody grasp that concept?

See, that's basically my point. When a developer tries to get too cute with ANY aspect of a sport for the sake of "realism" and gets it wrong...it's a detriment to the game. It's self-defeating and just makes the game more UNREALISTIC. I realize I'm probably blowing people's minds right now with that line of thinking.

EXAMPLE: NHL 12 added broken sticks this year. The problem? They can happen like 7-8 times a game. So, a feature that was intended to add more "realism" becomes completely ridiculous, aggravates the piss out of everybody, and makes the game less enjoyable.

I don't necessarily disagree with the crux of your point, but injuries aren't exactly infrequent in the NFL either. A typical NFL injury list on any given week is usually a dozen or so guys per team, so in that sense there are actually fewer injuries in Madden. I think it just so happens that they affect starters at a higher clip because backups see the field much less in Madden than they do in the NFL.

What I'd really love to see is franchise mode incorporate different classes of injury in a more robust fashion. Let guys be probable, questionable, doubtful, etc and then you have to make a decision about whether its worth rushing a guy back before he's fully healed. I know you can already do this in-game to a certain extent, but I'd love to see a more realistic implementation of injuries across the whole franchise. As with most things which would improve the online franchise though, I'm not holding my breath.

Also I hope people know to sub for there players when they turn red or orange. I do that almost every play to keep players fresh, and my teams usually suffer very few casualties. It could be luck, but I like to think it is because I dont mind having a 68 CB in for a 85 safety who is dead tired.

I assume switching your players in and out when they are tired or beat is essential to keeping a healthy roster. If you run with one back all the way down the field, he'll probably get hurt eventually. Hence why Jacobs is in there 1 out of every 3 or 4 downs. He's a much worse back, but Bradshaw lives to run another day, and he'll be better when he is in.

We need injuries because it requires our teams to have DEPTH, instead of just playing the 22 best starters. It would be retarted with no injuries because we would only need half of our entire roster for the most part. That is stupid and not realistic.

Yea but then it goes to "who picked the team with the best starters"

As far as "skill" goes, how much affect do the rosters have on success? Better players will beat worse players regardless of the teams. (Thats why the JV league was formed is it not?)

----and one Pandoras box we should never open is the inequaltiy of the starting rosters, no way for us to control that.

Also, If no one in here is interested in Depth. Hey we can all just quit the draft after the second round!

That's actually a good point, and it's pretty inexcusable for Madden not to have had that feature by now (the NHL series has had it for years). The idea of "I stubbed my big toe! I can't play!" is just ridiculous. In a way, that speaks to my point though (maybe "frequency" of injuries wasn't necessarily the right term...but "severity"). If you're going to add injuries for the sake of "realism", don't do it half-assed.

Without "nagging injuries" that players can play through (which are more realistic than 15 broken collarbones in a season), what purpose do injuries actually serve? They're not representing the sport properly and they just Posted Image up everybody's season.

The problem with most Madden players (and most EA gamers in general, really), is that most don't think this way and are more than happy to gobble up whatever slop EA throws at them without ever questioning if it makes any sense at all. Each year, it feels like my frustration builds as gamers with common sense can come up with a laundry list of changes that would actually make for better games, but EA is content to give us gimmicks and scheme new ways to take more of our money. See, I told you. I'm getting old, lol. And another thing...

You realize this is a bug right? If you look at XFN injuries will be different. They aren't all broken collarbones...I thought this was established a few weeks into the Madden release. Granted EA didnt fix a bug but that is a different story.

I don't see anything wrong with injuries, they happen. If you need a real life example - Kansas City lost Jamaal Charles, Eric Berry, all to the SAME injury Tony Moeaki for the WHOLE season. Not to mention Brandon Siler, Matt Cassel and a handful of others for an extended period of time. Injuries happen...and a lot of them.

The sad truth is that EA has no real incentive to ever improve the Online Franchise. I haven't seen stats, but I'd imagine that people who actually care about it are a very small minority within the overall Madden community. And more importantly, it doesn't provide any additional revenue stream. The suits at EA don't want you playing Online Franchise, they want you playing Ultimate Team (where they can get more of your money).

Hell, they could improve Online Franchise just by giving it all the features that the Offline Franchise has already, and a few basic things like giving you the ability to scrimmage with your team. It would be easy to do those things, and require basically no additional development time since the game already supports that functionality. That they don't tells you all you need to know about how many fucks they give about Online Franchise. Spoiler: zero fucks.

It's funny you mention Ultimate Team, as I actually got into that pretty heavily this year (first time in any game). I even stooped so low as buying one Legendary Pack. When I opened it up to find zero legends...I knew I had been duped. I still tried to complete collections after that, just by selling gold cards, winning auctions, etc. But it got so ridiculous around playoff time that I just stopped.

They started releasing collections filled with cards that were ridiculously rare and required at least 20+ packs to get one card in the collection. And then releasing collections that you could ONLY get by buying packs with Microsoft Points. Of course, I'm sure most sheep were "hooked" on the mode by then, and just handed their money over freely because they "had" to complete the collection. It just got disgusting. "Hey kids! Here's a card you can only get by spending $4! But guess what??? You might not get that card at all!!!" It's like a rigged game at a carnival, lol.
