CAGs Do You Have A High School OR College/University Ring?

200STM

CAGiversary!
Hey CAGs I am thinking bout getting myself a high school ring since I never got one when I graduated in 2008 and now I lately been wanting to have one since I feel it would be nice and to always remember my fun times there. I thought this might be a good Thread Topic since I want to get a ring and I'm sure CAGs have also might have or not got their school rings. :) If you have yours post a picture or talk about why you felt like you wanted to have your ring? I want mine since it would honestly be nice and would make me feel that I have another memento other than that diploma.

If I can't find a friendship problem I'll make a friendship problem

I didn't get one, but I think if you had a good time in high school and want something to remember it by, I think it's acceptable to get one. I remember them being kind of expensive though.

I was pretty well known in high school, but I hated my class. I never did a damn thing to be involved with my school. I didn't even go to my own Prom. All of that stuff seemed like an excessive waste of money to me. If I actually liked my school and the people, maybe I would have considered getting one. I didn't sooo, no thanks!

I was about to say this exact same thing.

IMO, this is what yearbooks are for. I would consider a ring a waste of money. I could maybe understand a college ring, but not high school.

it is like we are the same person haha

I have a high school ring that I never wore. It's cool as a keepsake I suppose, but otherwise it was a waste of money.

I agree with this. Yearbooks are much better at chronicling the main events in HS, along with the notes/signatures from your friends. A ring sits in a case in a closet for most people after they hit about 20 yrs old. Not to say that yearbooks don't either, but rings seem redundant and a waste of money.

Nope, I don't need a piece of jewelry telling people hey I went to college, or hey I went to this high school. Plus I don't wear jewelry.

Goddamn, words right out my mouth.

Though I didn't go graduation ceremony as well.

Same here, but I actually got the ring for some stupid ass reason. I regret it because I never wear it at all; not even sure where it is. I have zero plans to buy a ring here at my college, even though I like it a lot better.

I never really bought anything my senior year of High School.. I didn't feel like it was necessary. The only thing I really bought was my 2010 lanyard.. but when I started college I felt kinda lame wearing that old lanyard, so I replaced it. Feels tacky wearing things referring to your high school days.

Haven't seen mine in a while. They're really impractical to wear and I'm in agreement with everyone that says yearbooks are sufficient sources of high school memorabilia.

yearbooks are nice in high school because you can look back at all those fine chicks that wouldn't give you the time of day in school before the reunion and laying on the "I got rich biatch" thing pretty heavily.
I don't have either and never wanted either. Not big on jewelry.
Same. Total waste of money, IMO.

Getting one while you're in school is fine. Getting one so long after you graduated seems kind of weird.

I had a ring in high school and actually wore it every day, but as soon as I graduated it suddenly seemed a lot less cool.

No. I had not interest at all then, and definitely don't regret it now. Aside from not caring about rings other than my wedding band, those high school rings are hideous IMHO.

never got one. graduated in 2002. thought about it a few times since but idk. i dont wear jewelry anymore either except my earrings. I'm 27 now and haven't seen anyone with a school ring since I was in high school. I'd say don't waste your time with it.

hell no bad enough i had to pay 50 bucks for the damn yearbook just so i could get my diploma 100 bucks for a ring was too much to ask.

I got one, but not due to my own will. My parents wanted me to have one so they got it for me.

Have never worn it in the 7 years I've been out of high school.

Same here. My parents bought me a ring in high school. I think I wore it on my last day and that was all. Now it sits in their jewelry box, at least that's where I assume it is. I haven't seen it since 1993 or so. Those things are a complete waste of money.

Never saw the point of it since I didn't have the cash to throw around and a yearbook was enough of a keepsake for a minor point in my life. Seriously felt bad for those kids that felt that was going to be the best time in their lives.

I gave it to my best girl at the sock hop when I asked her to go steady.

I don't and don't know anyone who does. I'm honestly surprised they still make the things.

I have a HS ring, most people I knew from HS got them too. College rings... I passed on. I know a couple of people who wear their college rings, from pretty good schools, but I roll my eyes now whenever I see them wearing the rings, especially since we're a few years out of college now.

I could understand wanting to perhaps collect school rings from places where you've graduated, but I don't see the appeal of really wearing them. Its not like school rings go well with a t-shirt and jeans, nor is anyone going to be impressed by the ring at a formal event. Most guys will probably just wear a wedding band and that'll be that.

Just got my high school ring a week ago, actually. I'm never going to wear it, but its nice to have I guess. I didn't really care if got one, but its not like I'm paying for it

It's just a scam to take your money to make you pay for an overpriced ring. Honestly, I've never cared or thought about the plaques, trophies and medals I've accumulated through my life.

i bought one for graduating high school and only wore it during my graduation. to me mine looks kind of cool and the reason i got one was because it was like token of what you accomplished i guess.

My mom asked me if I wanted one, so I looked at the catalog and figured out how much one I'd "like" would be. I told my mom how much it was, but then I said I'd probably rather just get a couple of games. It would be cheaper, and I'd enjoy them more. I wish I could remember which games I ended up getting... :)

I have two conference championship rings from college (football). They're nice to look at and display. I don't wear them and only occassionally take them out of the display. I used to think it was fun to cart them with me at the airport or to the casinos to where I'd use them as card protectors.

Honestly though I earned those and didn't pay for them so I guess it's a little different. If I had disposable income I guess it would kind of be cool to have a high school and college class ring to display as well but they aren't anything I'd wear.

I guess it's kind of like a letterman's jacket. I know those used to be super popular many years ago but they are kind of a thing of the past.

But only you OP know your true feelings. Do what you want. If you would like one get one. Not to be a dick but I've got a feeling that for many of the poeple on this board high school wasn't exactly a great four years so I could understand why they wouldn't want more stuff to remind them of that period of time in their lives.

I enjoyed high school and was very active and have fond memories. I'm much more of a geek now then I was then. I didn't get a ring because I didn't have money to pay for one and I didn't want to put that financial burden on my parents.

lol spoken like a true gamer.

No. I don't get the point of jewelry to begin with (other than a wedding band or sports items). I think a diploma is a better item of remembrance.
