Apps keep autostarting in the background

So I got Advanced Task Killer Free and I notice that whenever I got to kill all background apps, there's a few that are started which I did not access. How do I get that to stop? I disable auto-update/auto-sync on my apps so I don't get why it happens.

For the record, the phone is a Motorola Triumph on Virgin Mobile.

Gemini App Manager can do it, but you have to be rooted. I would like to also know how without root.

Well, i found a work around... sort of. Advance Task Killer Free can auto-kill tasks every hour (or two, or three, etc.). I guess I'll have to do. My battery drain noticeably slower now.

Most people frown on task killers....say they actually drain the battery.
