Walmart has South Park XBOX 360 pre-order price 49.99

A preorder for this would be un-CAG like in my book. Just in reference to the unproven franchise, not necessarily the deal.
Yeah i'm gonna wait til it releases and rent it. It could be good fun, but its Obsidian
It'll be playable, but attacks won't register, your teammates will randomly pop up and disappear in different places, and it'll freeze when you try to load your game. But it'll be initially playable.

I don't think it'll use Bethesda's engine so it will definitely be better.
I can't believe this game has a $60 msrp. I would have guessed $40, not $60
Me too. But I would have thought Rayman would have sold better at $49/39. I guess they are hoping for the loyal fans to jump on it early.

What are you basing this on? I can't find much information on this game at all, yet alone enough to determine if it's any good or really that much about it. Honestly no game is worth $60 to me, but personally if this game was great and had an entertaining story I'd much rather play it over a game like skyrim or fallout; those games stories bore me to tears, I have no interest in wasting 50 hours on boring fetchquests with forgettable characters. I'd be much more likely to enjoy a game like SPG, again, assuming the story was as hilarious as south park usually is.

edit: the screen shots look pretty cool, looks exactly like the show o_O

might be promising. of course i wouldn't pay over $30 for it but that's just because i have a ton of other games to go through, not because I think it'd be a worse game than its competition at this point, idk how you could determine that without even a review or even seeing the game in motion yet

Me too, I'm a huge South Park fan but this game is a day one buy for me, but only at $40 or under.

They have all been random ass games that made no sense in the SP world...rally games, trivia games, tower defense. This is the first one that actually looks like the show and potentially could envelop the humor of multiple episodes of the show due to it actually being more about the story and not some random gameplay type that has no relation to south park. Not saying it's good but you cheapasses saying it's not worth the same price as the other RPGs coming out really have no basis to do that just yet.

Looks like you found it. I read the article last month in GI.

Here's the thing. South Park has a great, devoted audience, and they'll buy this game quickly. But, after a month, sales will drop, and drop hard. Prices may do the same. That's when I'll buy.

I'm gonna get this at $60. May be un-CAG like but South Park is one of the few shows I actually watch and have been for years. I have a South Park desk calendar, a little wind up cartman, and a coffee mug here at my desk. Probably my guiltiest pleasure.

i used to LOVE south park rally, I still have it actually. might pop her in for a refresher as it's been about 10+ years.

One note from that article is that SP's creators (Matt Stone & Trey Parker) seem to be heavily involved in the production of the game AND they seem to be genuine gamers. From screen shots and the article, the game looks indistinguishable from the show. Parker, in particular, seemed well schooled in RPGs.

All that said, as a CAG, I'll be waiting for a sub $20 price, but it might be a painful wait.

And after South Park 64, it was all downhill.

Somehow, I don't think my dream SP/LEGO mashup will ever come to fruition.

Are you new to the RPG genre or something? Every RPG is a giant fetch quest. Skyrim is a game with a TON of dialog which I'd say 80% of players will mostly skip through making the characters easily forgettable. If you take the time to listen to the characters, their stories and do things for them, it makes them easily memorable. It's all how you choose to play, what you choose and not choose to listen to.

A game like South Park is easy to have memorable characters because the TV show has been around for years.

The only thing I've heard about this game is the whole "Jew" as a Player Class thing...I was going to try to look up more info on it--but then I took an arrow to the knee....

If there was a president of gaming, he'd decree that the developer of batman arkham asylum and city would make all future comic, cartoon and other games like this. Think batman: ac with the Simpsons or South Park.

from what the new game informer showed, this game looks super fun. matt and trey actually working directly on it (unlike the other games who were just licensed) also helps a bunch.

I'd be fine with that for the first game. A second one, no way. Rocksteady copy/pasted the living shit out of Batman with Arkham City. It's still fun, but 100% completely lost the "wow" factor.
I had no clue south park was still relevant today.
South Park is as popular today as it ever was. I can't wait for the game to come out

Having read the Game Informer issue with this as the cover story, I am very excited about the game (and will be getting it the day it releases more than likely). There was an interview with Matt and Trey and they were saying that earlier South Park games they were not really involved with in much (or any) way. Now they are actually writing the story of the game which should be great. It is also surprising to read about how much gaming they actually do, though I guess it isn't that hard to see after thinking about how many times video games come up in the show. Hopefully Obsidian can do enough on the gameplay end to make this a really good game.

tl;dr version: Matt and Trey are involved, they are writing the story and are gamers themselves, so hopefully Obsidian can make an awesome game.

Edit: I think they also mentioned that the gameplay will be similar to Paper Mario, so that might be interesting as well.

It looks like they are spending some time on this. The latest Game Informer has a really good article with everyone involved.

I don't like when people judge/'price games' before they are released... because who knows? No one really knows.

Rayman Orgins was awesome. I had so much fun playing it over the holidays. But, the only discussion I found on it was people saying $59.99 was too much... no one was playing it - just saying they thought 59.99 was too much.
