Well my day started off bad...

I drove 25 minutes to a "new area" (to me) to try my luck. Only problem is the sale I went to first advertising ds, gamecube, and wii games was actually last week. #-o

Then I went to another sale advertising games. I was worried he would be sold out as I arrived 20 minutes after it opened. I didn't miss anything because he wanted $20-$40 per game.

Hit another sale that "had a ton of games earlier" and bought a few scraps.

Then I had 2 quality finds at 2 different sales.

You will read about them in a few weeks as I am way behind on my postings! ;)

Not much today as far as sales went, all I really found was a like-new Turtle Beach headset X11 for $1. Lady said her husband only used it once.

On a side note, at one sale they had a big box of porn DVDs for $10 (like 50+). In the wide open next to their regular DVDs... Some people have no class. Of course I passed.

I was surprisingly awake early today so decided to hit up some sales...and what a bust.

The last sale I stopped at looked promising. One table had DVDs and games piled on it. She had a bunch of Atari and NES games laid out, with no prices. I start browsing them and the lady comes over and tells me that she has the systems to go with them. I am pretty excited because I don't own an Atari or NES. I just straight up tell her I'd give her $50 for it all...and she laughed. I was kind of put back by that reaction, but asked what she wanted. She said she wouldn't take less than $100 for the Atari and $50 for the NES, systems only! It was an Atari 7800. She also wanted $5 a game lol. I laughed back, mocking the way she did initially. I told her she was crazy, and to enjoy her games because she wouldn't be selling them, then I left.

That yard sale is advertised to go on tomorrow too. I'm tempted to go back and offer like $60, because there is no way she sells them. The systems actually appeared to be in pretty good shape.

i totally want an update!

also my friend gets beaten by people who pay top dollar. one guy spent $100 infront of me and my friend on a whole bunch of pokemon stuff that we were only suggesting like $20. so someone out there might have bought that nes.

I remember the worst sale I ever went to in terms of prices. When I first arrived and went in the garage, I was in heaven because I noticed tables full of games, toys, movies (even Blu-rays), and much more to my liking. Then I started looking at the prices. Decade old PS2 sports games were $20, and PS3 launch titles happened to be $40. Blu-rays weren't anything special and those were $20 as well. Nearly everything was MSRP or ABOVE MSRP. There wasn't even a point in haggling. He especially thought all his toys were worth millions, he even had a few toys marked in the hundreds. I'm sorry, but I don't go to garage sales to drop that kind of money.

Reminds me of a sale I hit twice, accidentally. Boxes and boxes of old Power Rangers, GI Joe, Transformers, Thundercats, Ninja Turtles, Star Wars toys, etc, etc. Some "collector/reseller" that wanted 5.00 for loose figures, various ebay priced items, 50.00 transformers thrown in boxes, etc. Kept bragging on his "eBay store" and how he has THOUSANDS of items for sale.

The whole time I was at his sale people would come up and go "wow, I used have this, this is awesome, how much is it?" and he'd go "well, this is mint and has all it's weapons, I've also refurbished it because I changed the rubber bands in his legs. See how tight it is compared to this one. It's kinda pricy online so I'll have to get 25.00 for it". Potential buyer: "Oh, ok thanks".

Highschool graduation is meaningless unless you where going for special achievements to better gain access to a top tier University. College years are the ones worthwhile, I wouldn't want to miss out on those, trust me.

I don't get why people do that; if it were me setting up (games for example) I'd just have commons for $2-4, uncommons for $8-10, and list all the pricy stuff online. There's only so much you can expect out of the average yardsale-goer's wallet.

College graduation is meaningless as well, except if you don't go they charge you a $50 fee here. Basically no one cares, they just want to get out of there and get on with their lives. We don't care about some generic speaker (unless you happen to luck out with a really famous speaker) who is going to tell you a bunch of meaningless stuff that you will forget the moment graduation is over. Really mean to say this, but its so true. College itself is definitely not meaningless though.

I actually lucked out on a non-overpriced house today after many overpriced houses yesterday and picked up 11 games for about $10 total.

Xbox
Unreal II
Buffy the vampire slayer

PS2
Bully
True Crime
Destroy all Humans

Gamecube
Robots
Crash the wrath of the cortex

Wii
Super Mario galaxy
Lego Star Wars the complete saga
Star Wars the force unleashed

My fiance stopped at a few places on her way home from her overnight job this morning.

Picked up:

An old Gameboy bundle in carrying case:

  • Grey Gameboy w/ AC Adapter
  • Tetris
  • WWF Superstars
  • Warioland
  • Bart Simpsons Escape from Camp Deadly
  • Bart vs the Juggernaughts
  • Super Mario Land
  • Mega Man 2
  • Space Invaders
  • Donkey Kong Land
  • Most of the games have manuals too.
Paid $3 for all.

She also snagged a few Nerf Guns, one being the Sonic Edition Vulcan (clear green shell) with two matching ammo belts. Missing the tripod and ammo box, sadly. I already have two of the regular yellow Vulcans, so I'm surprised she bother picking this up. She also got a Nerf Stampede, which is one of the few Nerfs I didn't have yet. She paid $3 for the pair.

Thought I was trolled this weekend. There was an ad on Craigslist for a yardsale with Playstation and Famicom (wtf) games. Advertised as Sat & Sun sale. Get there Saturday at open. No one is there... I thought "well played troll." Today I was back in the neighborhood well after opening time on their ad. Surprisingly there were people set up. My girlfriend and I checked it out. We ask about games and the guy looked surprised someone had asked for them. He goes into his house and brings out a box of crappy PS1 games. I mention the Famicom, he ran back in and came out with the system. Every other sentence reminded this guy he had other video games he could sell. So after some waiting around for this guy to run back and forth between his house and $60 later this is what I scored.

Posted Image
The controller on the right is a PS3 usb controller. I think. Really needed this new Saturn.

Posted Image
Famicom is modded to have multi av out. The game in the middle is Master Fighter II a Street Fighter II clone.

Finally TJ&E!

Posted Image

Well that yardsale saved my weekend. Also got this stuff at another sale all for $1.

the past 2 weeks I've ran into several community yard sales that were advertised as "huge community yard sale! over 20 homes!" then you get there and its 2 houses with a little table with 3 coffee mugs. I really don't understand people sometimes....most of these people, if they sold EVERYTHING they had for sale, they would only make like $20, why don't they just go drop it off at goodwill? Nobody wants your old christmas decorations!

And I also came across tons of yard sale signs where they put a sign on a main road with just their address (written as small as possible) and no arrows or addition signs, as if I am just supposed to know where their house is, or I'm supposed to stop in the middle of the street, write their address down, then type it in my GPS. I probably wasted half the day just driving around looking for a houses that had nothing but baby clothes anyway

My mom stopped by a sale that had an atari advertised, it turns out it was a 7800 and he wanted $150 lol! The economy is terrible, people have no money, no one can get a job, and you think someone is gonna pay 8 times what something is worth at a yard sale? Seriously what goes through these people's minds?! Like I said earlier, after I started selling on ebay, this kind of thing makes me even madder than usual because these nuts think they can get ebay prices by just throwing some games or toys on their lawn and putting a price tag on it, and not going through any of the work it takes to actually sell on ebay, not to mention the ebay and paypal fees.

A college education is becoming a standard in my opinion. No college education and you'd really be nowhere.

no one wants to hire people with college degrees because they demand normal wages and the employers don't want to pay them anything, its cheaper to just hire someone that doesnt have a degree and pay them next to nothing. Add on to that all the lazy bosses who don't want to hire anyone that is young, educated, and eager to work because they know they will make them look bad by working harder and faster than them and probably take their spot in the company. I've seen both things happen more times than I can even remember

mario party 7 (game cube) brand new and sealed for $2, tetris (DS) the rare one thats at gamestop used for like $30. and animal crossing (DS) for $2.

and then 2 summers ago i bought blur (ps3) and singlarity (ps3) for $25 both brand new and sealed. both of them at the time were only a month or 2 old and were still selling for about $50 or $60 each.

Yeah, that's not even close to reality in my experience. I didn't believe it in high school and I especially don't believe it now. None of my friends or family went to college (excluding my father-in-law and grandfather) and they're all much better off than I am. Some of them didn't even graduate high school. While I was wasting my time busting my ass for a piece of paper, they were getting work experience and have worked their way up to jobs they like.

The more I try to find work, the more I regret going to college.

This was my big score from Saturday, tried posting it a couple times but CAG keeps logging me out when I try to make posts and then clears it when I repost.

I found this yard sale on Craigslist because he advertised "Xbox 360 with rock band and 20 games" so it was the main sale I was going out for. I wasn't too hopeful because I figure the more specific they are with listings the more risk they want eBay value or sometimes even more. Anyways, we had thunder storms right up until 7AM Saturday morning which worried me that a lot of the yard sales weren't even going to happen.

First time I drove past this sale was 45 minutes before it was supposed to start and literally not a single thing was taken out, so we drove around looking for other sales in the area and after striking out at a few stopped back to see if this one was on. We got there as he was bringing out the trunk with all the Xbox stuff so I was there as soon as he plunked it down. He had $50 on it, and 5 or 6 people lined up behind me asking about it so I didn't even look through or try to haggle and just gave him the $50 for it.

I got home and looked through and this is everything I got:
Spoiler

-Xbox 360 with 120GB Hard Drive
-2 Wireless Controllers
-Wireless Adapter
-Media Remote
-Hard Drive Transfer Cable
-Rock Band Drums, Guitar and Mic
-2 Xplorer Guitars
-20 Games, most complete with manuals and all in great shape

Went to about 20 other sales after but all were overpriced on video games. One had a box with 2 SNES systems (one with Mario All-Stars, one severely yellowed) but only one AV cable and no power, 2 PS1s with 2 controllers no cables, 2 Gamecubes with no cables or controllers, and 12 common Genesis games with sharpie writing all over them that reeked of mold. She said it would be $50 for the box and wouldn't stop talking about how I would be crazy not to buy that as there was $1000s worth of stuff in it and just the Super Nintendos she sells for $250 on eBay.

Probably would have bought it if she was more pleasant and stuff actually was complete/good condition, but literally I would find something in the box and she would grab it and say that wasn't included.
