Shipwreck's review of Droplitz(xbla) from a while back. He gave it a Very Good.

Hmm guess i've found a reviewer with differing opinions than my own. Noted.

I honestly don't know how anyone could give it a Very Good rating.

No, you can't enter any giveaway for a game that you already own. You could just tell your friend to register & enter though.

Totally, thanks.

I think it is a solid game. According to Steam, I have 8 hours playing it, which puts it #8 on my most played games. Haven't picked it up recently, tho.

I liked it too, but haven't felt any urge to play it since getting all the achievements. It's more of a twitch, rather than thought, puzzler.

are there price trackers for Steam sales that will send out email notifications?

don't really want to use RSS tracking at the moment. and i'm only interested in the Age of Empire deals for now, but not going to get it now because they still need to release additional DLCs in the future.

Email alerts for prices that you set:

I also like the Daily notification from Deals4Downloads.com.

They aggregate the best deals each day from Steam, Amazon, GamersGate, and several other online PC game retailers.

Just a reminder kids, if you haven't already entered the Faerie Solitaire giveaway over @ Steamgifts, you only have a little bit over 7 hours left. The developer is giving away 25,000 copies and so far there are only about 13,000 entries. If you don't already own the game, this is pretty much a guaranteed win for you.

Thank you for the well-timed reminder.

13,500 entries presently, with 3 hours to go. Looks like a slam-dunk.

hey, steamgift question. So i created an account and entered for faerie solitaire (thanks!) and then I saw it was worth 5p to enter. And I have 20p left. So what are the points, and how does one get more after entering something?

I looked over their website, but saw nothing on it.

The points are just their currency system. You get points automatically for every new contest someone starts on the site. I think you get half the points of the contest added to your account. So if someone starts a 10P contest, you get 5P. As time passes, your points go up. They max out at 300P so be sure to check back every few days and use your points.

Play Gotham Imposters for an hour and so far I had a lot of fun. No issues finding or connecting to matches and plenty of people around. Didn't experience any lag or video issues either. Just posting in case anyone is still on the fence.

I think it is a solid game. According to Steam, I have 8 hours playing it, which puts it #8 on my most played games. Haven't picked it up recently, tho.

According to Metacritic's 6 PC reviews it has a 78 average, so M_F_A_H and I must be in the minority, which is fine.

Again, coming from the angle of someone who enjoys casual games, I found it to be too difficult and too shallow. It just didn't hold my interest at all. There are many more action puzzlers that offer a more compelling experience.

At 75% off I'd say maybe take a gamble if you see video of the gameplay and it seems like a good time, but at 50% waiting seems like the smart thing to do.

Also, holy cow... 8 hours is #8 on your most played list?

Duel of the PlanesWalkers Gold is $20, includes 3 decks, and expansion. How low could this be expected to drop in the future? Or is $20 pretty good?

The DotP series seems to have a habit of going on sale. Seeing as the series is apparently now annualized, and June would mark the one year anniversary of the 2012 version, perhaps we can expect the 2013 version to hit around then. If you're only interested in the single player it may be best to wait for an even better deal just before the 2012 version gets phased out. If multiplayer is more your thing as soon as the new version hits most of the online community will probably move on to that, so you may not want to wait too long to get your money's worth out of the game.

There is a FAQ that seems helpful. I agree, they need a front page that explains the service.

Here is the FAQ portion that addresses points:

What's with these points?

  • The point system is designed to prevent users from entering for every single giveaway. This lowers the overall number of entries, and provides everyone with better odds of winning games they're interested in playing. New users start out with 25P. Every time anyone submits a game, every member of the site, excluding the giveaway creator, receives 5 percent of that gifts value (in USD) in points. For example, if a $50 gift is created, every user on the site receives 2.5 points. And, if a $20 gift is created, everyone would receive 1 point. These points can then be spent on entering giveaways.
1P = $1 - When entering a giveaway, 1P is equal to $1. If you're entering for a chance to win a game valued at $20, you'll spend 20 points. If at anytime you decide to remove your entry while the giveaway is open, those points will be returned.

The maximum number of points that can be banked is 300. This is to prevent users from stocking up on points while being away for long periods of time.

I enjoyed Droplitz, but once you get a really good score on any given level, there's no incentive to replay that level ever again. You pretty much get your money's worth and then stop.

If you like FPS, pick up Bulletstorm. It suffers from invisible walls, but this game is just pure, uninhibited fun. A bit on the short side, and not much replay value, but $5 is a great price for it.

The multiplayer was never the best part about it. $5 for that single player campaign is a great price.

Any extra DRM on Bulletstorm?

Steam is usually very good about listing any additional DRMs in their game details. Other than needing a Games for Windows Live account to access online stuff, there isn't any listed.
