Playing through Mass Effect 2 to get extra ready for Mass Effect 3. PC was better than PS3, but since I'm getting ME3 on PS3, I should have a save to import.
Yay Baldurs Gate! Can't wait to see what it is exactly.
With the big deal they're making out of it, one can hope it's more than just the game arriving on Steam.

Okay, finished me2 and spoilers made me cancel my preorder of me3. Anyway wondering what I should play next. Has anyone played both Wild Arms 1 and Altercode F; which one do you prefer? That or I am just going the knock out the SMT games I have yet to play, which are strange journey and the two devil summoner games.

Doesn't matter. My money, all of it, will go to them. If Zelda OoT didn't exist, BGII would be the best game ever made.

Now the question is will they incorporate all the cut content that was later fan patched back in? HD "complete" remake...

How did I not see Tales of Graces coming out in 2 weeks?

Persona 2: Eternal Punishment confirmed for PSP. Okay Atlus, every Persona game is on the PSP, Your big goal for milking us for money is over. Now it's time to lift them hands up and stop jerking off to Chie on Yukiko porn and get to developing something that ends in FIVE.

Well, it would have to be more than just the old files, but if they are offering an upgraded version of the original games, I might buy. I never did finish either game (tho I came close with the original Baldur's Gate.)

And on the PS3. I don't have a PSP and don't plan on getting one.

So, I asked this near the end of the old thread, but never got an answer. Do you think a walkthrough is a good idea for Radiant Historia? The only thing I know about the game is that there's time travel involved, and that has me worried that things can be missed.

I've played both when they each came out. I'd say go with Alter Code F, it has better graphics, additions to the story, more playable characters and most other things were generally made better. The original PS1 version aged horribly.

I'm pretty sure there aren't any missables since you can just go back in time and do any sidequests/take any paths that you missed.

i've only played through half but i don't think you can miss anything because you can replay chapters over and over...

edit: doh i repeated the last poster

Thanks for the heads up, as soon as I finish Secret Files 2 I am going to probably play alter then.

Excited for the possibility of a new Baldur's Gate!!!!!! And if true, they BETTER not fuck it up, or try to make it some FPS, or MMO, or dumbed-down console crap ala BG: DA!!!!!

Etrian Odyssey V would be awesome! Chop chop, Atlus!
Crotch,

Your opinion on Jade Empire?
Combat can be wonky and cumbersome at times, but it mostly works. Many interesting combat styles, though. Unremarkable plot and characters (amusing as Henpecked Hou is in a fight). Great aesthetics. Has a vague feel of "action KotOR for dummies". Uses a binary morality system, but at least it's more-or-less consistent about it, unlike a certain science fiction trilogy whose final installment is about to be released.

Interesting experiment. Better than Neverwinter Nights and Dragon Age 2, but worse than... most other Bioware games. Not a bad diversion, but you've got Nier to power through, mister. Anythin' more specific ya need?

Persona 5 has been pretty much confirmed as being in development.

Everything that wasn't the modding community/toolset.

Everything.

EDIT: To be fair, the modding community and toolset were fucking great.

whooo~!!!

I beat Suikoden V a few days ago!!

it was aiite. tries to hard to be Suikoden II, which is by all means a better game.

so here's my problem now,

I need a new RPG to play!!

I have a few choices but one I definitely have no motivation to start at the moment is Xenoblade.

but if I dont play Xenoblade then that shyt'll come out in america and every1 will get to play it.

and then I will no longer be cooler than everybody by having played it before yallz.

and being cooler than everyone is VERY important to me and all I stand for.

>_<

also, the price of this game frikken plummeted on ebay!!

so if u wanna pay $50 for it when it comes out do that,

or pay $25 to get it now.

I see, thanks.

Started Nier earlier tonight and got the book dude. Shouldn't the townspeople be more startled by a magical talking tome? I don't know, I thought the main character's excitement was strongly disproportional to the people he was informing of his quest. "Oh, Grimoire Wess from the legends? Cool..."

Anyways, I was really impressed by the first boss fight, the embedded cutscenes worked really well. Combat is good enough so far, just not a fan of how it feels like I'm fluffing pillows. If they changed the blood spurts to feathers this game would be golden.

And after the opening sequence, does it say 1,312 years later? Or 1.312 years later? Super confused.

It's 1,312.

I'm probably one of the few who think Suikoden V is best in the series. The story was better and I thought the characters were more interesting.

If you want a new RPG why not wait a few weeks till Tales of Graces? If not I can always recommend Wild Arms 5. One of my favorite PS2 RPGs

I don't remember the main characters reaction, but they live in an already fucked-up world, seeing a floating talking book wouldn't be mind-blowing.

i think many would play suikoden 5 just below 2 or above 2.

i don't think it tries to be like 2 at all, though.
2 was mostly about the dynamic between your character and jowy and the different methods they want to use to achieve peace

5 was more about power plays by characters behind the curtains

I donno mang, like in S2 u got like Luka Bright who's all kool n shyt then in S5 it's like we need a Luka character ok her CHILDERICH and u're like wtf?!?!?!

Could not help but think of this as I read that.

(Not that I don't agree, but EO4 isn't even out yet ;))

I started Baroque today.

At first I was like, this isn't as bad as I've heard. It's an action-based take on roguelikes/mystery dungeon games. Yeah it's hard, but I can deal.

After a handful of rounds of getting killed, I come across an item early in the Neuro Tower that boosts my EXP for each enemy beaten. It's game breakage time!

With said difficulty-breaking item, I get to a depth of -1600 (did I mention that I'm in a tower, yet decending beneath the ground? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense). While there, I'm
asked to "purify" (read: shoot) this god or something. I'm sent down to a depth of -99999, shoot the god, then there's a cutscene where the playable character talks for the first time and says he wants to redo the world. What.

So I'm booted back out to the main town again. At Level 1 again. I reload and have my awesome EXP dongle sent to storage, then redo that whole short scene. Go through the tower again. Again reach -1600. Same damn thing.

Did a bit of reading up on the game just now and found out that I have to talk to the characters in town and elsewhere and figure out what's going on and what to do. Did I mention that the NPCs are awfully vague about the things they talk about? There were some changes with NPC appearances and dialogue during that second trip down to -1600, but if I have to go through all those areas again several more times just to talk to characters I find to be bland anyway in order to advance the story, well then... that doesn't sound too appealing.

So yeah, I'm not really feeling a sense of progression with the restarts, as I did with Shiren on the DS (the stingy item storage system doesn't help, either). Putting Baroque aside.

I finally beat Final Fantasy XIII-2 today... I thought I was prepared for the ending, but I was wrong. My reaction was simply this, "the fuck?"

Still, I enjoyed the game as a whole and I'll pick up the next one.

Started Puzzle Quest 2 on the :ds: . It's not as engaging or even 'fun' as the first one.

Also, in fallout New Vegas the Wild Card : Side bets quest is taking forever. Should I just do change in management and be done with it?

Yea, I didn't like it either. Tried 2-3 timez to get into it. I played PQ1 like 3.5 times, twice on PC, once on PSP, half a game on PS3. The mining and all directions thing made it a little boring.

I'm about 7 hours into Radiant Historia. I'm really enjoying it so far. The story's a little mediocre, but the battles are pretty fun and the whole idea of going back and forth in the timelines to proceed is pretty cool.

Are there that many townspeople? Does it take a long time to talk to all of them? I was always curious about this game, but the reviews scared me off and I never got around to it.

There aren't a ton (maybe six or seven in the starter town, and some more in the dungeon itself), but apparently you have to pick up on and remember details about them in order to get anywhere. It sounds like the kind of game you'd want to take notes on while playing, or rely heavily on FAQs.

Aside from the sometimes shitty camera, the dungeon crawling is great; I just don't relish the thought of doing it over and over again to unlock new details about characters who initially struck me as uninteresting at best, grating (the tutorial dungeon guy, goddammit) at worst. Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer is similar in that new stuff gets revealed in each restart, but all that is easily accessible and technically optional (plus the characters and story are charming as hell), where here it seems to be mandatory and somewhat obfuscated.

Just started the fan translation of Soma Bringer. Really like the art style/use of hand drawn backgrounds, and the story is ok, but the gameplay just feels really boring. It's kinda mindless button mashing action-RPG that's trying to be Diablo but without any decent loot/skills. Kinda see why it wasn't brought over. Maybe it'll get better though, so I'll keep it going a bit more.

Won't matter come Wed/Thursday or whenever Amazon decides to send me my ME3 :D

Yeah, as much of a Monolith Soft fanboy as I am, I had a hard time enjoying SB. I do remember getting some decent loot, though.

Yeah, ok, enough is enough. I find it hard to enjoy good Diablo clones (ie Torchlight, but I thought Titan's Quest was fantastic). Boring Diablo clone just isn't going to fly. Loved Xenosaga trilogy, Xenoblade, and enjoyed Baten Kaitos, so 1 bad egg isn't that bad I guess.

Now to just have the patience for ME3...

About 18 hours into Radiant Historia now. I'm having a really difficult time keeping the timelines straight. Every time I run into someone that I met in the other timeline, I think I already met them in the current one and get confused.

Yeah that is probably the biggest flaw in the game, especially when trying to figure out who to level up.

So is Kingdoms of Analur just sort of a modern take on those :ps2: Baldur's gate third person run and smash type games?

fuck you Amazon, y u no ship ME3 yet !? (and fuck me for being such a cheap ass :D )

Maybe I'll pass the time by reminiscing about my adventures with a miniature giant space hamster. Yeah, that'll work.

I bought some fish they were dead in no time flat.

If they want me to feed the fish then they better fix the load times. I'm not going to periodically wait 30 seconds to keep a bunch of virtual fish alive. Besides, doesn't the captain of a ship usually have someone doing his maidservice?
