MADDEN 12 LEAGUE RULES:
1) PLAY FAIR AND HAVE FUN
2) NO FREE AGENT PICKUPS ALLOWED

RULES: Just a brief clarification on the "rules." By play fair, we mean that you play the game like a NFL coach would. That should be self explanatory. No going for it on 4th and long in your territory. No onside kicks in the first half when you're up. Just don't be a jerk. And of course, have fun. Amendment: QB sneaks are now officially banned. It's completely broken in this game. Do not use them, ever.

Free agent and trade rules
Free Agents- 1. FAs will not be touched until 3-4 weeks into the season. At that point we'll create a waiver ranking based on performance so far. Worst will get first choice and so on. This will help the teams that need it most first and give them the best chance to replace key injuries.

Trades- 1. We're going to hold off on ALL trades until the NFL preseason wraps up.

1. All trades MUST be agreed upon by both parties and then presented to the league for discussion.

2. The commissioner will lead this discussion and ultimately decide whether or not to pass the trade based on the opinions of the league.

Can't believe he picked Denver. I would have went with Tennessee. He's already a legend there and it would be nice to stick it to the Colts twice a year.

Both fero and I signed off, so if there are no objections (and I don't anticipate any) I'll put it through later today.

I agree. Oh well, hopefully Tamba Hali and the Chiefs defense can smack him around for a couple years. Historically he's sucked against Crennel, so we've got that in our favor.
ESPN, right on cue, "Broncos favorite to win the AFC?"
The Manning-lead Colts fielded a better overall roster than the 2012 Broncos pretty much every year and won the AFC exactly twice. So, no.

AFC West favorites? Probably.

They still have lots of cap space and the defense should get better. Look at some of those Colts teams he took to the playoffs.

Oh Jesus.

...meanwhile the Dolphins are in pursuit of Pat Riley.

Those teams were better than people think. Sure, a lot of the credit goes to Manning, but the Broncos don't have any receivers right now who stack up against Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, or Marvin Harrison in his prime. Could Thomas become that good? I think so, but he's still got to prove it.

Posting, so I can easily get to the thread. But poor Dolphins, no Flynn no Manning, maybe they actually believe in Moore after last year's performance.
Can't believe he picked Denver. I would have went with Tennessee. He's already a legend there and it would be nice to stick it to the Colts twice a year.
Yeah, I really wanted him to come here. I freaking hate Matt Hasselbeck. Dude is a choke artist, on the level of Jim Kelly...receding hair line and all, lol. Would have been nice for Manning to tutor Jake Locker for a few years...although, I guess if he's looking for a 5 year deal (which is generously stretching his "playing years" if you ask me), then the Titans would basically have to be OK with losing Locker too. Still would have been fun to see Peyton in a Titans uniform though.

I am hoping the Dolphins can sign Alex Smith. He helps gets them to the NFC title game and they still hesitate to resign the guy.

The defense took them to the NFC Championship game. Smith played well, but historically he's been very mediocre. I can't blame them for not being sure.

I encountered a problem in processing the Lions-Bengals trade: The Lions don't have any other ROLBs on their roster. Anyone have any objections if I give them whoever the lowest-rated ROLB is so that they can have a valid roster?

That's fine with me.

They tried to resign him to a 3/24 deal but he wanted to wait..so while he explores other options, how can anyone blame SF for pursuing one of the best QBs ever? I give Smith credit for turning his career around last year, but the dude isn't good enough that you put all your eggs in his basket and wait patiently while he decides what to do.

That leaves Redskins-Eagles as the only game left to be scheduled.. Anyone got a line on it?

My understanding was that even though BallSoHardU was taking over the Raiders, he'd still be playing the Skins games until we find a replacement (which reminds me to change the thread title).

Nobody would debate that, but he still played better than expected. Not his fault he fell into a terrible situation with 27 offensive coordinators in his first 7 years.

From what I heard here, it was only a 1 or 2 year deal. I'd wait too.

True I can't blame SF for pursuing Manning. But Smith isn't as terrible as the media makes him out to be.
bv sometime before advancing can u switch our players
Just did it. You didn't have another ROLB on your roster, so I picked up the lowest-rated one for you.
Haha, new thread title looks like "team WAS open...but you missed it! fuck you!" lol. I actually had to think about it for a second.
I was running short on space, it was either that or "Skins Open!" :D
Waiting 10 more mins on Yanksrule, said he would be 20 min and I been waiting an extra 15 already...
I'll see if LV can text him for you, hold on.

He is on live right now, just not responding to anything

He sent a message saying how about in 20 mins, responded and never heard anything back

LV texted him - said he's stuck in traffic and that it shouldn't be much longer.

I figured. It just made me laugh. "Skins" or "WSH" was all I could come up with. Maybe something flashy like "Get UR Skins!"? I suppose "Injuns" would be offensive. You just can't win for losing.

There we go.
Can someone sub for Redskins, I heard they are open.
They are, since BallSoHard is switching to the Raiders, but he's still going to be playing their games until a new owner is found.

Have you been in contact with him at all? If not, what's your availability to play the game today? If you can't get a hold of him we can find a sub.
hey I'm goin. to need a sub for my next game
Thanks for the heads up, we'll find someone to fill in for you.

I just PMed him.

Thanks. If you don't hear back by 5 or so, let me know and we'll find a sub. 5:30 is the earliest I'd be able to boot him anyway, so hopefully you could play after that.

I know I'm a little late...but do you guys really see Alex Smith as much of an upgrade to Matt Moore? They both seem to play the "game manager" role well enough...neither of them being relied on too heavily to make plays in the passing game. I feel like Moore takes more chances in the passing game which might tack on a few extra interceptions compared to Alex Smith...but I don't think it makes sense to go out and get a similar QB in Alex Smith when you have someone like Matt Moore.

I agree. Let's face it, the Dolphins in all likelihood are not a playoff team without Alex Smith, and they're not a playoff team with him either. Right now they're moving backwards while the Patriots and Bills are making big strides forward, and the Jets are at least standing pat.

Right now I'd predict Miami will be in the cellar next season, and given that I don't really see any point in signing Smith, even if he's a little better than Moore. The franchise is a mess right now, I don't think they have any clue what they're doing down there.
