As one of the backers, I am excited. The re-announcement trailer was pretty short, I will be expecting much more in a week. It still seemed to have the feel of Wing Commander so I am pretty confident it won't disappoint.

For anybody that backed this, you should've gotten an email with instructions on how to download the PC beta client. I just started the download, so I'll post impressions later.

I'm interested to see how it plays and if it has legs. We need more space games but I really want something with depth - fingers crossed for this one.

I played the beat over the weekend and it seems like it'll be a solid space sim/shooter. The ship control takes a bit to get used to it since the ship sort of swings around the cursor and it didn't feel like the controls were as finetuned as they could be, though this beta is still quite an early build.

is there anything to do in the beta besides the tutorial-like mission?

i felt the same about the controls. it was a little tough to swing around when fighting the other ships, and it was tough at times to accurately hit things with the gun.
