I have to say that was my guess too. None of the conferences gave me confidence in any one companies offerings. If I had to invest in a new gaming console and I had this year to base my decision on, I would be turned off. I would go with PC gaming, social gaming, or Ipad or Ipod touch, or Android device. The industry has reached a stale point and rehashing the same old stuff. The innovation is really coming from the IOS and Android areas. Why pay for a $60 rehash when I can easily get a quick fix on a game for $5. Console gaming has reached its end I think. I know alot of people and friends are in the same boat. It has just gotten so stale. Nothing really grabs me. And I have been playing games since Atari. This is the first time in gaming that I am completely not interested in anything from any company.

If you're talking about stuff like Call of Duty, Gears of War, Halo 4, Tom Clancy #33, God of War, Assassin's Creed, Just Dance Central 3/4, Dead Space, I agree. While I like Assassin's Creed and God of War, I think it's a waste of dev time/money/energy for a multiplayer that'll be dead in a month online. And I'm sorry, but the ship battle in ACIII looks dumb and annoying. I can see many frustrating checkpoint reloads if your ship goes down due to poor control. Also I don't know how the Assassin's cloak fits with the time period either, so out of place. Sure the games are a buy for me, but I'll CAG it up to $20-30 and play my backlog in the meantime.

But things like Watch Dogs, Beyond, and Last of Us surprised me. They are looking great, unique, and fun. I'll glaldy pay $60 (no I won't, I'm a CAG, I'll find a deal) over a $1 iPhone game that kills 15 wasted minutes of time.

Even Tomb Raider is mixing things up, looking like a survival game now. Not sure I like it, but at least they're trying. Honestly I think the name Lara Croft is hurting the game more than helping, should have been a new IP.

Borderlands 2 is looking awesome. I think the new classes, skills, and areas will keep it fresh. Not to mention chasing that glorious loot!

Bioshock Infinite looks different from its previous games, can't wait to see how that turns out.

So in short, I don't think everything is stale. Stale to me is Draw Something, Plumber Buttcrack, or those dumb sim games like Tiny Tower. But a new console gen is too late. They missed their mark to move on and there are just so many current options that no one will want to adopt the next gen early.

Now this is funny: CNN ran a story today about how the WiiU controller can't save an aging Wii. Nintendo was hands down the all-time worst at show I've ever seen. They absolutely needed to nail the conference for WiiU this time and they still don't get it. Last year they said this console was for us core gamers and then turned right around with karaoke games, fitness games, etc. Batman? We played that last year, thanks.

The people that bought Wii are GONE Nintendo; they're not back from iOS or wherever they've gone. The people you wanted fell asleep after Pikmin was shown.

I think the internet ruins E3, seriously if you took away the ability to know of all the stuff that'll come out at E3 we'd be still talking about all the great stuff shown. That's how it was in yesteryear.

I was reallllly impressed with Ubisoft and fn not cool because I've watched EVERY Ubisoft show before and they've all been horribly cringe-worthy up to the point this year I decided to skip it. F (I got caught up with youtube though, can't wait for Far Cry 3 and AC3).

Microsoft blew me away with Halo 4, say what you will with rehashed franchises but I didn't get the same vibe I did watching EA's conference (sequel reboot, sequel, yearly game snore).

Funny watching that Ustream as well, I had the exact same reactions Cheapy had with everything. Personally I can't wait for NFS Most Wanted, my favorite of the franchise with open world cop chases, or whatever they finally call it. Social racing competition is my thing.

Thought Sony was going to talk more about their precious Vita, other than sales numbers. That God of War game looked interesting, esp with it going to have multiplayer now. Last of Us and Beyond looked interesting but it was hard to tell what each game were going to be like.

Nintendo's show felt like an extension of last year's show. I am excited for the 3DS games though, Paper f'n Mario, finally!

Yeah, they absolutely failed to build on the unexpected popularity of Wii, and the point you mention is just one aspect of that absolute failure.

It's frightening how directionless and uncertain of themselves they've appeared for two E3s in a row.

I appreciate these audio boos, and especially Wombat pronouncing "Lara" correctly. It's something a lot of Americans struggle to do.

im getting sick and tired of everyone in the "gaming media" posting pics of there e3 swag.

its nothing more than the people "rubbing" it in your face. that they were in e3. which is still an INVITATION ONLY event closed to the public. and the hoops you got to jump through and id forms you must present to get a invite are crazy.

although from previous experience last year. IF you are a federal agent they let you in no questions asked. I was escorted last year by a member of DHS. dept of homeland security and we went right up to the main gate dude flashed his badge they called their security and managers and 5 mins later they handed us 2 badges and told us if we need anything where the security office was located..

but thats not the point here.

Welcome to the world of corporations and trade shows. Trade shows exist to sell product or services. E3 isn't a consumer fair show, that is what PAX is.

In 2004, doing internet tech support for Charter was good enough for me to get a free badge for the show floor only.

Just wanted to drop in and say I've been listening to the audioboos and not only are they a step up quality-wise from last year, but you guys sound like you're enjoying yourselves a lot more this year than any other. You've really been highlighting the best parts of the show and staying positive on the lesser parts. Personally I'm just glad you didn't harp on Nintendo for a half-hour. I wasn't high on their conference but there's no sense dwelling on its disappointment.

I thought the WiiU looked pretty cool. I usually like what Nintendo offers. I will be picking one up.

Couldn't agree more. The cloak in the original AC makes total sense, but after that the look falls apart badly.

I played AC:Brotherhood first and couldn't figure out why he was wearing that ridiculous cape in Renaissance Italy. Also the default color is "assassin white" and that has to be one of the stupidest things I have ever seen in a videogame.

But it was still better then this. There is no way rugged colonial Americans are going to ignore an acrobat prancing around in a hoodie.

You've never heard the term cloak and dagger? It quite literally spawned from cloak and sword, which were worn by spies/assassins.

As Suleiman says to Ezio in the beginning of ACR (and I paraphrase) "you don't look like no Italian"

If someone got shanked in Renaissance Italy, the first guy you would suspect is the acrobat sporting the pimped-out Arabic robes and hoodie.
