Producing my first movie...

After years of wanting to make my own independent film I am finally taking the plunge. Last year, after a really bad breakup, I was on the verge of just throwing in the towel on my dreams.

I remember getting online and just moping around looking at video game and superhero websites, and thinking how pointless everything was. Then I saw a casting call for the Dark Night Rises. I didn't go to PA to take part in it, but I decided to give the next one a go.

Enter the Man of Steel. I really wanted to be a part of that casting call. I dropped everything and took a bus Chicago. I was so close to waiting hours in line for a tiny shot at movie magic, when fate intervened.

I got a call from a casting agency. They wanted to cast me as a principal extra on a television show. Awesome, right? I went in, had an interview, got fitted for wardrobe, and even did a 48 hour film festival pic while I was there. Everything was going good. I was going to get on a show. Yay!

The show was canceled after the pilot. I never got to do it. Still, I was in a 48 hour film.

I used that momentum to spur me on to several small independent projects. I did sound, casting, script rewrites and some directing. Now, after all of that I am in the process of funding and producing MY first film.

It is a short form independent sitcom pilot partially based upon true events.

One Liner: Lyncredible is a hilarious tale of two friends and their attempt to overcome the dark pleasures of life, lust, betrayal, and distrust.

I think you need to post a better description, seems pretty vague.

Do you mean about the actual story, or the process we will be using to shoot the film?

The story itself. Couple dorky guys that live with a girl and funny stuff happens. That's pretty much all I've got so far.

I understand you're trying to get money to start the project so you can't just shoot the movie and then ask for backing, but there's got to be something you can do to help people understand what you're making and make them want to contribute.

Maybe shoot a 5 minute scene at a park or something where you don't need a set that just introduces the characters and shows off a little bit of the humor or something. Maybe take some photos of the characters with short bios. Give people a reason to want to see more of what you're making.

Let me put it this way, if I told you I was making a sci-fi movie with lots of action and interesting characters then posted a short video of one of the cast members basically saying "we have a great show, help us out!" would that be enough to get you to donate money?

you may want to change the name i thought you chose your name off of that bball player jeremy lynn didnt realize it had shit to do with your name until i saw the clip. also you need to post more than just what your idea is if anything do a scene or something so people get a better idea of what they show is supposed to be like because as is it sounds like it could be pretty much any show on tv.


might want to make your character bi as well that could make for an interesting dynamic as you compete for the love of guys and girls or maybe you have a male&r female roommates and they each want to be with you. and if you go that route you have to look the part so people will believe it.

do a tv show not a movie. hell better yet do it on youtube as a series shouldnt cost you too much but time and someone could easily see it and pick it up.

I'm pretty sure FX picked up "It's always sunny..." based off two short clips the cast put together on something rediculously small like a $200 budget. All the clips contained were interactions between the characters.

With comedy, you have to show you're funny. Just saying you're funny in an age with YouTube and loads of digital shorts out there, the market is flooded with potential talent.

Funny is funny. Write something funny, film it, put it on YouTube. If the real world agrees, you'll get likes and forwards all over the place, and you'll be onto something. If it's not actually FUNNY, just mildly amusing, people will go "meh" and nobody will want to give you money to make it anyhow.

Half the battle is casting. If you have a friend you're going to cast, he better be Jack Black or Owen Wilson, or don't even bother. Nothing makes a funny idea unbearable faster than people who simply cannot act, and have no screen presence.

Lyndrick and Marcus are two loveable losers without much relationship success. One day, Lyndrick, the would be Casanova of the two, gets a date with a very naughty girl. Not having a car, however, meant that he would have to ride with Marcus.

Unfortunately for them, Lyndrick's date vanishes, and Marcus' car breaks down. The rest of their evening is spent in a tragic, but humorous, attempt to make it back home without acquiring STDs or eating knuckle sandwiches.

Years later, the two reconnect in Lyndrick's new town. Lyndrick, still very much mired in the past, attempts to recreate a better version of that night with Marcus.

April, Lyndrick's ex girlfriend, has other intentions. She sees the present (Marcus) as an opportunity to fill the void within her both literally and figuratively.

Roger, their annoyingly tactless and somewhat perverted neighbor, just wants to watch the local community college swim practice.

Thank you. We are using professional actors. And I am sure the final result will be very funny. We just need it to be polished enough to keep focus on the story.

That Jeremy Linn thing is why I have stopped using my Lynsanity accounts. I had been using both Lynsanity and Lyncredible online and offline for over a decade.

It is being produced as a 22 minute pilot. Once it is finished we will decide where to go. Thank you for the input and ideas.

I understand what you mean. I don't have access to two of the actors as they are both doing work on other projects. Gosh, with 3 days remaining, I am just hoping to get that final $120.

Hm, sounds...like an independant film. A lot of those films are just crap truth be told, although there is potential in yours. Sounds like it is pushing a bit of a porno description though

It will be paced faster than most indie films. They are a little slow for my tastes. It will have a couple of interesting scenes but nothing that can't be shown on youtube.

You only need $500? Isn't that low?

You should of copyrighted "lynsanity" if you been using that for over a decade, shit ESPN going crazy with the whole Lynsanity earlier this year could of paid off your whole movie/directing career

Except that it's spelled differently (Jeremy Lin, so "Linsanity") and ESPN could pay for a team of a lawyers that would basically overwhelm him in legal fees to the point that it would not be of any financial benefit if he did try to go after them.

Either way it would be a long long battle. Back to the film. I am using my own money to pay for the majority of it. I have most of the equipment. The $500 is to supplement what I have already put in. It will be used to buy materials to build the sets , etc.
