That's what I figured. Probably makes sense to wait on the patch anyway. Hopefully just 2 more days, guys! :)

Yeah, I think some people get a little crazy with the fantasy style GM bonanza. I'm just hopeful that the salary cap will put the kibosh on some of the huge moves. I'm all for improving your team, but it's a little hard to assess positions of need just yet. Hopefully it's mostly just people being anxious to get started. Pretty surprised to see Aaron Rodgers offered up. You can't do much better in a QB, so unless steggy is more of a speed/scrambling QB guy, and Rodgers just doesn't fit his style, I don't really get that one.

Yeah, but you leave out the full details of that trade. I gave up Vilma...which I didn't love, but needed to do to get Calvin, and I also gave up Robert Meachem because Blade needed an extra receiver. I also had another deal in place with the Jets to acquire Bart Scott for Mark Ingram. So, essentially, I traded Mark Ingram and Robert Meachem for Megatron...and took a slight downgrade at MLB. I didn't drastically alter my team. I reduced a crowded backfield, and upgraded my receiving corps.

Also, Megatron is being offered up again this year (not that I want him again...I've learned that receivers aren't really game changers in Madden). It's a little different trading one of the best QB's in the game, who basically accounts for the entire offense in GB. If steggy has his reasons, that's fine. I know he's a Packers fan...I just can't comprehend being a Packers fan and not liking Rodgers. That's all. Believe it or not, I'm saying this without any bias.

I'm a little surprised that people are always trying to trade Megatron, but maybe they think they can get a lot for him? I don't know. As long as people aren't making moves just for the sake of making moves, that's all I ask. I've always been in favor of hearing the thought process behind a trade...and not just "dat dude is good yo". It's different if it makes you a better team, or is a position that you have a surplus at, or even this year, if it gives you cap space to build for the future. Just something other than having a hard on for a particular guy.

lol...I felt the same way about Vilma. Bart Scott just didn't give me the same production...and I didn't feel that Megatron made the impact I had hoped for since the passing game was so limited last year.

Following players are on the trading block...

Aaron Rodgers, Greg Jennings... Possibly more.

Looking for youth at QB/RB or defense.

I hear Tony Romo has expressed interest in playing for Green Bay. ;)

This is going to be a dumb question but i'm fairly new to Madden games.

How do I change and individual player's action? Say hes set to blitz but I want him to do a QB spy...how would I go about doing that.

Yeah I don't get the whole "people trading away their best players in their prime" thing either. I mean Aaron Rodgers on the block looking for youth.....wtf is that? He isn't even 30, a top 3 QB in the league and the best QB in Madden and he's getting moved? Same thing applies to Megatron except that he's even younger than Rodgers. If this was real life half of the people in this league would be fired before training camp lol.

Well, for me, it has to be about fitting playing styles. The Megatron situation is a little easier to explain if you're somebody who is terrible at passing the ball, but is great at running the ball. In that situation, having the best receiver in the game is just a wasted resource, and might be better used bolstering your defense, o-line, etc. I'd just like to see those rationales being presented, rather than treating the players like trading cards.

I'm sure there 20 million plus a year contract turn people off. Especially for the packers, a lot of older players making big money with people like clay needing a new contract

This. Even if Calvin is a 99, that contract is absolutely strangling your ability to do anything personnel wise, especially if we play multiple seasons. If I was a team that didn't have $15 billion in cap space, I wouldn't try to get him.

That's a reasonable argument...though I think it's pretty obvious the Packers are a "win now" team. I don't know that I'd sacrifice that just for the cap space. When you've already got one of the strongest teams in the league, why break them up? Regardless, I'd like people to speak for themselves. If there is a trade proposal, just back it up with your reasons for why it makes sense, and you should be fine. I think that's all people are wanting. Any thought out trade won't have issues.

This league started in November last year and was half full for most of its existence, and we still completed 3 seasons. We WILL play multiple seasons this year. No question. People should definitely plan for that going in.

I completely understand that in real life the Packers are a win now team. But i've done a couple ccm's as the Packers with my brother just for fun and to test the ccm out, and i'm not exaggerating when i say if you don't start moving some of those players, you get stuck having a hard time managing the cap and pretty much can only add rookies during the offseason.

Well, yeah...that's generally the norm with older players. You ride them as far as they'll take you and then you rebuild. I just don't know that I'd put Rodgers in that category yet...especially since the production he gives would be harder to replace. LBs and WRs are much easier to replace. At the end of the day, it's up to each person what type of team they want. Regardless, this debate is growing old. Just present your rationale behind your trades and you'll likely avoid community uproar. It shouldn't be that hard.

I didnt realize this was going to be a big to do. My logic behind the trading block proposal was to generate cap space, as I thought we planned on a multi-year league, am I right? I would gladly sacrifice a 99 player for one that is half the price and allows me to build around a young quarterback with just as big upside over 3-4 seasons, as well as allow me to still sign large cap players that are coming out of contract soon such as Clay Matthews and Greg Jennings. This would allow me to build a young defense in return, for players that would inevitably be unable to work out a contract with. To me it's sell them while they're hot and look long term, as risky as it may be.

Again, I wasnt trying to start a war... just gauging interest.

Not a big deal at all, man. Don't worry about it. I think people were just stirring the pot and then a debate formed out of boredom, lol. But I think posting what you did probably helps people understand why someone would do something like that. I don't know that I would personally let Rodgers be the one to go, but that's why we're all free to run our teams how we want (within reason...which I think maneuvering for cap space falls under).

And at the same time, I don't want people feeling like they have to give away their entire game plan. So, uh...if we can all find a happy medium between mass hysteria and showing all our cards, that would be good, lol. :)

Not a problem. Preferably I would want to trade Jennings before I trade Rodgers, since he should inevitably leave after this season. Also, I would prefer to develop the Packers offense of young receivers that have primetime potential. Also, just like in real life, the packers running game is abysmal. So I am trying to improve that facet for a more well rounded team.
