I can also say I played him, in the preseason. Nothing too bad, though he did sub manually Manning back in to play the whole first half.

He would probably be okay for this league, but he should be under careful watch.

Ya I meant an update on that since you said "most likely", was wondering if that time was confirmed or not.

Confirmed for somewhere right in the 8EST area. I have meetings tonight and should be home sometime shortly after that.

Dang it is being reported that Percy Harvin is getting traded to Seattle for picks. Good choice for Seattle imo, strengthens their team a ton (not to mention they will be even better in madden next year).

There are no shortcuts. No do-overs. What happened, happened. Trust me. I know. All of this matters.

Very smart choice! I really like what Pete Carrol has been doing with that team.

As a Panthers fan, did anyone else see that Chris Gamble is retiring?

ya I'm guessing they will be the cheese team of choice lol.

Also, I didn't expect Gamble to retire as young as he is. I was hoping the Packers or Redskins would make a run at him.

Yep, I think I'll take them again next year lol.

I am having Network problems. I am running a dual band router with 2 networks going, one in N and one on G. The problem is I can connect and everything runs fine on the wireless N network, but on the wireless G network I can't even connect. I'm not sure what to do, been looking into it. If anyone has any ideas hit me up or post.

Boldin was about to be released after refusing a paycut. I was surprised they were able to trade him.

Very surprised about Gamble. I was expecting a contender to pick him up at a discount.

lol uh oh ;)

i kinda like then way we did but i also liked the way the other league did it as well maybe we could mix them together. veterans of the league get first pick but we do a raffle pick of teams that way we mix the teams up but the veterans get the first raffle of teams to pick from it would be fun and interesting

Full disclosure, it's been debated whether or not you'd be a good fit for this league. As much as we've been trying to steer away from and limit cheesy or exploitative play, based on your play style in the other league, you've kind of built a reputation of riding one player for your entire offense.

I hope you can understand that that kind of thing has turned off a lot of people. I'm not saying we don't ever have something like that happen in here, but like I said, we've been actively trying to take measures to reduce it. Bringing in a new member who is known to specifically play in that fashion is hard to feel good about.

I don't really think that is fair considering the team I have had to work with. I was given the Browns minus their best defensive player in Haden. What was I supposed to do? My offensive game plan has had to shift due to having very weak offensive players outside of one or two guys. I don't think my attitude in the other league or play style is any way reflective of what I play like. I have had to adapt to my very weak roster and work within it. I am certainly not going to try and get someone like Johnny Knox the football in the game if he can't catch for the sake of realism. I am playing to win and I do believe with a better team that I play a much more balanced game. Some of us don't have the luxury of being given a good roster to start with.

I would like to be given a chance as what do you have really to lose? If you don't like how I play, kick me out after. Its not really an issue. I am competitive and I am always there to get my game played.

He can say it was an accident all he wants but the fact is there was nobody within 10 yards of his receiver and he deliberately showboated into the end zone. I appreciate his apology but it was still a pretty classless act and a blatant violation of an important rule in this league as well. If voicing that makes me sound a little harsh, then so be it. Obviously it's Nate's decision but as someone who played him firsthand I feel offering my opinion is worthwhile here.

One tap of the X button makes me unfit to join the league? Come on man, get over it. It was an accident and I have not done it once since and nor has anyone ever accused me of it. Just move on already.

I only had two QB's on my team in Manning and Young. Having them each play a half really is not that bad.

This is a bit unfair. I remember the showboating situation, and he said it was an accident, apologized to you, and I haven't heard heard anything about him doing it since. To use that as a basis for saying he'd not be a good fit for this league seems harsh to me.

The "throw it to one guy" thing is certainly not overblown, but I think Mile High is probably developing an appreciation for the fact that it's not a very effective strategy given his record in the other league. Seems to me that someone who is stuck in one way of doing things and not having success at it would probably want to take some time to learn to play the "right way." Which is what this league is for, isn't it?

That's not to pressure you guys to take him, that's up to you. And I'd certainly understand if you want to exact a commitment from him to actually work on developing a reasonable and realistic gameplan over here (which hopefully he could then bring over to the other league as well) as a pre-condition for joining. But I do think you should give him a shot.

Thank you.

Other than being expressly against the rules of the league which everyone is reminded about every single preseason, no, it's not that bad. :D

I'll leave other league business in the other league though.

Nope, I don't think it is bad, personally, but it is definitely against the rules. You always have to allow the CPU do the subbing in a preseason game.

Anyway, as I said, I have no problem with you joining. Play fair, and clean. I don't think we'll have any problems. It's up to Nate though.

to answer konfusions question fully this is how team selections went this year.

Group A. veterans of the league

Group B newbies of the league

Group C veterans of the league that are in both official and gentlemans league

group D newbies that are in both leagues

Group A has first choice of either keeping there team from last year or picking a different team.
after group 1 has gone the following group pick in abcd order.

it worked great. i like the group idea alot. but i think a fun twist for next year would be no one keeps the same team automatically instead do use the group in order in the same process but do a randomized raffle to pick who picks first and so on and so fourth and let teams get picked that way it would be fun and interesting. or like the official league group a puts in a list of there top 5 teams if and if 2 people or more pick the same team then a raffle is done for the team. whoever loses moves on to there second pick. but if ur second pick is someones first pick then the person that had them with there first pick wins of course and u just keeping moving down ur list until u get a team. which i can see how that can be confusing and annoying. thats why i like the raffel for draft spots only in reality ur drafting ur team with the raffel order.

lol just a fun idea though of course im sure n8 and whoever is on the committee at them time will decide whats best for the league of course.

in itself it doesnt, but in correlation with you violating another league rule (the QB subbing in preseason), your one-man play style with Platt, and other issues, it does make a good case. I dont really have any vested interest one way or the other, but its worth addressing.

You have played me all but once. It is hardly a big sample size. Also my trouble with the rules came mostly in the pre-season when I was still learning. The rule list for the CAG league is very extensive and I have to imagine some people have had issue remembering them early on when they joined the league.

I already established my play style with the Browns in other league is due entirely to the make up of my roster.

To be fair, your roster isn't nearly as bad as you make it out to be, especially on offense. I've got to tell you though, that playstyle which it's "forced" you to adopt really isn't doing you any favors. Until you de-Plattify your offense, the better players in the league are going to eat you alive, even if you build a better defense. I know it seems counter-intuitive, but having played you my opinion is that it's your offense and not your D which is holding you back.

That's why I think they should let you in here, because I think you'd be able to do much better in the other league once you've had some time to work on a more diverse strategy. That's just my opinion though.

You have Trent Richardson...and open free agency to sign better receivers if you don't think Johnny Knox is a viable weapon. I've got receivers in the mid 70s who make great plays.

I'm sorry, man. I'm not feeling it. For whatever reason, I can't shake the "I'm playing to win" line. Not saying that people here aren't trying to win, but it does call that "at all costs" mentality into question. Maybe it's just using you as an example, but we're trying to have less of that here. Sorry to keep you wondering, but I'll take you off the waiting list.

Honestly, I am just tired of seeing CPU games happen. I don't know about you all, but I played 3 CPU games this season because the team didn't have an owner. I think it should be a priority this offseason to find active owners for these teams. If someone like Mile High is really interested in joining, then let them under a probationary period. This would be a 1 strike and you're out kind of thing. I don't see the harm in giving someone a chance knowing that if they screw up just once, you can kick them without a ton of discussion over it and having to go through the normal strike policy. If they want to be here, they shouldn't have a problem with that.

I don't think someone should be barred from the league for trivial things such as a single showboating incident or playing a guy too long in a preseason game. Even if these are against the rules, he claims he was new and didn't fully understand the rules at the time. If this is true, he should have learned by now and if he screws up, just kick him. Unless I am missing something here, I don't see why he shouldn't be given a second chance.

No offence, but this also isn't the "force feed people how to play the game right so they can do well in the official league" league. If all he's interested in is doing whatever it takes to win on a game by game basis, regardless of how that makes him look in the eyes of his peers, then I don't exactly want to subject the people in this league to that. You have to remember, we have a decent number of people who ONLY play in this league. So, knowingly giving them an opponent who has no problems cheesing it up if he believes the situation justifies it isn't knocking my socks off here.
