Any Ravens fan who is proud of that victory should be embarrassed.

Feel good for Torrey Smith, what a story, but the Ravens absolutely did not deserve to win that game. The refs were in the bag for the home team for the entire night, it was an absolute embarrassment.

I'm sure I'll get accused of being a homer, but this was the first NFL game I can remember where there can honestly be a question of whether the fix was in. Unreal.

Honestly, it's going to take someone like Belichick taking the fine on the chin and saying in his press conference "the refs gave the Ravens a win they did not earn or deserve. This is an embarrassment for the league" before the NFL does something about it.

That doesn't make it right, and it's not like the Patriots didn't also lose last week as a direct result of a blown call. This one was even worse. The bottom line is the Patriots would be 3-0 with the real officials and are 1-2 with these clowns.

I appreciate you not pretending this was anything other than it was though. :)

Honestly, I felt the officiating was terrible for both sides. But the Ravens made enough plays to win the game. As did the Pats

Edit: Didn't watch the game, but can only imagine how bad officiating was. The Chiefs game had 5 call reversals after reviews... embarrassing

Come on, Ramesu. I know you can't possibly think it was remotely even. You just can't, I know you watched the game.

Your team won, that's what counts in the standings, but don't kid yourself about what just happened. Just enjoy the win, and enjoy Torrey Smith turning into a star, because it's a great story, especially today.

I could be wrong, but I think someone said earlier that they had the same problem and it didn't work until they tried it when they were both online.

This is the sequence that completely changed the game: The Patriots were up 10-0 late in the first quarter and driving in Ravens territory. 2nd and 8 from the Baltimore 27, Ridley ran for 9 yards but it was called back on a hold on Gronk, replays showed no hold at all. Two plays later, Edelman caught a first down pass but was whistled for OPI on what was clearly DPI if anything (he was essentially tackled as he caught the ball). The Pats were forced to settle for a field goal.

On the next Ravens drive, the Patriots forced a 3rd-and-6 on the Baltimore 22. The drive was extended when the refs threw a flag on Jerod Mayo because his hand was on Ray Rice's back on an incomplete pass, even though he was within the 5-yard contact zone (it was a 2-yard penalty).

Those were the three most atrocious calls in the game by a long shot (in a game full of plenty of bad calls), and they completely changed the game. I'm confident that if you go back and watch the tape, they'll appear just as terrible as they did at full speed. The Ravens scored a TD on that drive, so it was at the very minimum a 7-point swing and probably an 11-point one if the Patriots scored a TD instead of the field goal.

Even if you want to argue that from that point forward the calls roughly evened out (which I don't think they did, but at least you could make a vague case for it), the game was already irrevocably changed by that sequence of events and what was on its way to being a Patriots blowout turned into a close game. Did they still have the opportunity to win in spite of that? Sure. And if they had, I'm sure I'd be less annoyed by what happened, but an 11-point swing in the 1st half is just as big a deal as one that happens late.

Anyway, back to Madden and its officials which are thankfully more competent than NFL replacement refs. :)

Broncos-Falcons going down sometime tomorrow night. Looking forward to see if DVO's improvement is real, or he just gets up for games where he can beat his brother. :D

They made plays, no doubt. Torrey Smith was fucking heroic, and Rice had a much better game than I thought he would.

But many of those plays that they made (including both Smith TDs) came on the backs of drives which were extended via phantom penalties. That's really not debatable, and it just didn't cut both ways in this one like it so often does. You really hope that even when there are poorly officiated games - which, let's face it, is basically every NFL game with these refs - that it doesn't directly lead one team to win that should not have won. In this game it did.

The Ravens deserved to win last week and they lost, this week they deserved to lose and they won. Hopefully it will balance out for the Patriots at some point, but that doesn't change the fact that with competent refs they'd be 3-0 and with these clowns they are 1-2.

Good luck to the Pats for the rest of the season. The game was awesome and I'd love to watch these two teams do it again with a bit more on the line (and hopefully with the regular refs). Btw....the Ravens had 14 penalties for 135 yards, the Pats had 10 for 82 yards.

You watched the game, you know it wasn't equivalent, counting penalties doesn't tell the story. Read my post above about the turning point in the game, it was really not remotely in any sort of "it evens out" gray area.

But I mean, ultimately it's up to you about how to view this game. If I were a Ravens fan I'd view it as one we were handed, I'd probably even view it as karmic make up for the screw-job last week, but I don't think I could talk myself into thinking the Ravens deserved that one. But if you can, more power to you I guess.

Good luck to the Pats for the rest of the season.

Ditto. I don't blame the Ravens, it's not their fault the refs gave them the win, they didn't ask for that. They took the chances they were handed and made the most of them, which is all you can expect them to do.

At least the field goal was good... I think.

The kick in the balls while down: This game also cost me both my fantasy games this week, one thanks to Smith and the other thanks to Rice.

Needless to say, there's no dog walk long enough.

I'm a little disappointed Belichick refused to rip the refs in his press conference. He's probably already getting a fine for grabbing an official at the end, he could have at least got his money's worth.

Oh, and how glad am I that I turned down a chance to buy tickets to this game? I wouldn't have made it back to DC alive.*

*I don't mean a Ravens fan would have murdered me, but that I'd have crashed my car trying to vent to the Madden thread while driving.

Not Approved.

The committee didn't feel that the difference between Leinart and Mallet warranted a 1st round pick.

Not Approved.

The Falcons need to be getting more back for White.

This committee is dogmess..how is anything going to get approved..Mallet has potential Leinart is a Lefty Qb who is a Bum and gets paid a hell of a lot more than Mallet...
