I'm interested in your views on Foosball. Your twitter made it sound like you enjoy it, so time to check out the cast and see what's up :)

Not done with the podcast yet, but Cheapy meant Spider-Man Unlimited, which has nothing to do with Spider-Man 2099. Spider-Man Unlimited was a terrible series where Peter Parker goes to an alternate Earth to save J. Jonah Jameson's son. Miguel O'Hara was Spider-Man 2099.

What was great about Batman Beyond was how it connected with other DC cartoons, like Justice League, since they were all in the same continuity.

It was interesting to hear Cheapy and Wombat have a little debate about the 3DS.

Cheapy, is there any kind of feature or game that could change your opinion on the system? What would you like to see?

I'm glad to hear that Wombat likes ME3 multiplayer that much. Sorry to be a grump, but the blue outlines of other players and the hacking aspect were always there. What's new is the objective where someone has to pick up object A and take it to place B, Platinum difficultly, gear bonus slot, and of course the maps/characters/weapons. Hope to play with Wombat in the future and hopefully I can snag Cheapy again into playing.
the blue outlines of other players and the hacking aspect were always there.
i knew it.

Foosball discussion was very hard to listen to.CheapyD the foosball snob. He'll look down on you if you don't know anything about foosball.

Cheapy - thanks for the recommendation on First Position. My wife and daughter are dance enthusiasts (my daughter has done ballet for a long time and is on the high school dance team) and will probably love this. I'd never heard of it before. Too bad it is not available on Netflix though.

Also, I broke my toe on my exercise bike about a month ago ;). But I do actually use it occasionally too...

And if you guys want to play any ME3 multiplayer let me know. I so rarely play any sort of multiplayer but I did really get into ME3 a few months back. It would be nice to give it another shot.

Biggest fault with the Sony 3D display: it will stop working and it takes over a month turnaround to get it fixed. Mine is currently allegedly on the way back to me right now. It broke in late June (just didn't turn on one day) after a month and a half of use. The problem seems to be as bad if not worse than original model 360's with the RRoD.

Obviously, this negates everything else I said in the episode :)

CheapyD, you should really talk to other parents about what their children watch. You've been living in Japan so long and I'm surprised that you didn't know that Super Sentai (Power Rangers) is a big thing in Japan like Ultraman or Kamen Rider. Depending on when Saban gets around to it, you'll see it in Power Rangers form in the next few years, though Tai will have outgrown them by them.
Here's a simple enough article, by another parent living in Japan: http://kotaku.com/5806843/not-one-space-pirate-a-whole-squad-of-them

Besides, I'm pretty sure the "Go Busters" air at 7:30 on a Sunday morning, too early for adults, but the right time for children.

Oh right, Wombat here's a video about some live action Turtles. http://cinemassacre.com/2011/08/09/tmnt-tuesday-live-action-leftovers/

i was a little shocked that everyone on the show thought that it was spider-man 2099 it was peter parker in a diffent work he goes into a wromhhole ...well i'm just a big fan of the show and batman beyond and spider-man unlimed were made by the same people and at the same time even the actors are the same for the shows.:)

I watched Spider-Man Unlimited and I thought it was terrible as a kid, yet I kept watching.
Spider-Man 2099 takes place in the future, and stars Miguel O'Hara in a cyberpunk New York City.

I agree with Wombat, CheapyD has to stop comparing the 3DS to the iPhone, especially when he has a Vita.

I've watched most of Spider-Man Unlimited before and it's not so great, but it's watchable. It's basically Spider-Man thrown into a mishmash of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles style side characters.

This will sound weird, but I like that no one talks in ME3 multiplayer. Unlike COD MP where everyone talks just to be annoying and offensive.

Spider-Man Unlimited was terrible as everyone said. It came out after the good Spider-man cartoon from the mid 90's that aired on Fox, but never had any appealing characters. And have to agree that the characters on the show that were not Peter Parker came off like C tier TMNT characters.

Never finished Darksiders either. The pacing of the game was too meandering. And while the game makers may not like having their game compared to Zelda they sure go out of their way to use a lot of that game series tropes.

Just want to say that there are lots of linux versions that are very easy to use. I think ubuntu is a lot more intuitive than windows. Unfortunately, there's not much gaming for Linux platforms.

I think Windows 8 will not be as popular as 7 but not necessarily a disaster. The reason why I am not looking forward to Win 8 is because of the Metro Interface. Instead of booting up to your desktop you boot up to a cruddy interface that looks just like a Windows phone. You can go back to your normal desktop but when ever you hit the start button it will bring you back to that interface unless you disable it in the registry (in the build that I last used).

Here is an image of what your computer will boot to in Windows 8: http://www.webmonkey.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/win8chrome1.jpg

CheapyD,

Gabe Newell's comments need some explantation because when I out of context, they seem kind of crazy.

So Windows 8 is essentially an Tablet OS, it's not like with OS X where they're gradually making the margins between OS X and iOS smaller (what I think is the right thing to do). It's going to make Windows look like your Windows phone that you don't own and your Xbox who's interface you detest. When he says manufactures will stop making them, he means desktop PC's because Windows 8 is going to be fucking awful on a laptop and a desktop. It's an OS designed for touch, and with a mouse and keyboard, that's not going to go down well. I work in IT Enterprise, and everyone refuses to switch, and it's not just a matter of price (we switched to Win7 at release) it's a matter of faith. I believe we'll see Windows 9 in less than two years simply because of the 'catastrophe' that will be Windows 8. This is the biggest shift in consumer PC's since Windows 95, and people will hate it. Just you wait.

Cheapy,

Perhaps you can't view the image links of the Thurman burger due to Japan having banned importing beef and all beef products including JPEG files of tasty american hamburgers so I've posted a few google image links:

PS: Columbus Ohio is known as "cowtown usa" and the big thing to do when you cheer the Columbus Clippers AAA baseball team is to ring cowbells that the fans bring to the games. This translates into Columbus having a ton of great burger joints.
First Position is $7 on Amazon...........WTF?
It isn't your normal 'in theaters, then leaves theaters, now on video' sort of situation. It's more of a 'limited release' sort of situation and they've gone ahead and made it available for rent. It's all a bit silly, but that's why the rental costs more than your typical rental.
Cheapy - thanks for the recommendation on First Position. In addition to Amazon and iTunes, 'First Position' is also available for rent via the PlayStation Store in HD for $8 (which is how I watched it).

Cheapy: "If they had the codes early, and sent me the codes, I probably would have written a review to have it up for launch day."

Less than two minutes later:

"Dyad gave us a code a week before the game came out"

So...I'm looking around the site...where's the Dyad review? Clearly getting a code isn't going to force you into writing a review, which is the reason you should be getting the codes in the first place. Stop complaining about not receiving codes since you clearly aren't using them how the PR would want you to anyway.

EDIT: Also, the banter that came due to the "exceptional 3DS XL" was....exceptional....

They talked about it on the show though, giving the game advertising. That's all they really want I'm sure.

I have had this conversation with some PR before, the guys I speak to prefer a written review because it is easy to show the client. Yet, on the otherhand one episode of the CAGcast gets more ears than a CAG Blogs review gets eyeballs.

And on the third hand, you don't like writing reviews.

Yeah, but how hard is it to do both? Especially when the man making the claim is always at home whappin it to porn.

A written review should be more thought out, less interruptions by comments and questions, and could be even be in the form of a video review showing gameplay. The game, and your opinions to people, would matter more.

At least to me, it comes off as wanting free stuff but not wanting to respect the simple wishes of what PR wants you to do with them. Then God forbid they dont send a code, they may get trashed on longer on the cagcast than time spent talking about the game had they sent one.

To be clear, the Dyad codes were given to us in hopes that we would discuss it on the show. Also, I've shot some footage of it that may or may not make it all the way onto the site.

Spider-Man Unlimited is terrible. It is only watchable in the sense that you can see it on a TV. The show only lasted a couple episodes before being cancelled.

Also Windows 8 is terrible, imagine that terrible Xbox Dashboard title crap as your start menu.

Wombat sounds like he had a completely different Best Buy experience than anyone I know. Usually you get swarmed by a group of blue shirts bugging the hell out of you every time you walk into the store.

Not at any Best Buy I've been to. Which is fine by me because I'd rather have to go ask for help when I need it, than constantly be bugged the majority of the time when I'm just browsing.

That is how I would prefer it too. If I have something in mind then I'm fully capable of finding an employee to ask.

You gotta admit, it's pretty awkward hearing Cheapy say on the air that the Foosball guys are doing a terrible job and then saying that they follow him on Twitter.

Cheapy's argument about the 3DS not being an iPhone is still annoying. As I've said before in these forums, I've had my iPhone for a couple of years now, but I still don't like playing games on it.

There's a lot of legitimate fears about Windows 8 and one of them is that Microsoft is going to turn it into a marketplace-esque platform where you have to pay Microsoft to allow your program (app) to work on the OS.

A lot of people think Microsoft is trying to lock Windows down like Apple does with their iOS devices, and they are starting with Windows 8.
