Anyone heard about any deals on Little Inferno? I'm not sure if I should get it on Steam or Wii U or if Amazon may have it.

You should avoid it like the plague. It's just an overly preachy morality play in the guise of a video game.

There was a reddit post by Tony stating Scribblenauts will be 75% off following days (can't seem to find the link), so that might be the reason why it's not working.

So I just purchased a giftable copy of Scribblenauts on Steam (not realizing it was Steamworks, on Amazon, and about to be 75% off). I guess I'll get another copy though to play for myself. Any Lego Lord of the Rings deals incoming?

Amazon is totally slaying Steam for the second year now! Great work Tony, gamers are really winning with this increased competition. Although I shouldn't call it competition because you guys are beating or matching everything Steam does. :applause:

Any info if KOA will be in the editor's choice? I read that is a bit difficult for this game to go on sale because is now property of some state or something like that.

It has sooo many good reviews, some even say the combat is on pair with dark souls (haven't played DS, but saw some videos and is great)

hard to say if it will end up on the editor's choice list, I can speculate and say it has a good chance of being added but only Tony knows for sure. KOA is on sale for $12 at the moment, not a bad price considering you get two dlc packs

Tony, these 25% off on walking dead and 50% off on sleeping dogs are the final ones we'll see this holiday? Not as awesome as previous sales though.

Uhm....no, combat in KOA is a lot more arcadish than in DS, DS is the superior game.

That said, KOA is great game.

But isn't KOA "more RPG" than DS? I should skip KOA and go with DS?

12 bucks PLUS it comes with the five dollar credit for the Editor's Choice sale...which could end up netting you a free game that is of quality.

I'm not sure if you could say "more RPG", just different. Both are "Western" in nature, but I'd say the biggest glaring difference between two are story, conversation/choice and combat style. DS has all of the standard RPG elements, but is arguably lacking in the story and conversation/choice department. Not that it is really missing as the game flows fine as is. DS is combat oriented, but in a more tactical way of noticing enemy patterns and parrying, blocking, etc. at the correct time. And has been stated, I feel that saying KoA's combat being more arcade-y is correct.

I tend to disagree, DS is very eastern in nature, from is a japanse dev, if that's what you mean. Other than that, DS is a much more hardcore RPG, some criticize the lack of storytelling but that it's just the way RPG games where made 10-20 years ago.

As such it's an unique gem found in modern gaming.

@juanjava
I couldn't possibly tell which one you will like, but I can give testimony of the deep and intricate world DS happens upon. If you can afford it, go for both, if not, all I can say, looking back at both experiences, DS is the vastly superior game, one which will net you 100s of hours of old fashioned hard core RPG gaming goodness.

Maybe I should have said "Western styled" then, as that was my intention. Meaning seemingly more focused on an open-world, customization of character and most importantly realtime combat oriented.

I myself prefer DS. I played the KoA 60 minute full trial and in that time it just didn't hook me. Combat seem fluid and fine, but the overall atmosphere was not my thing. I steered clear of DS for a while due to all the "this game is brutal" talk, but with the price point dropping, I finally bit and glad I did. DS I feel has a much steeper combat learning curve, but I also feel it is forgiving in that maybe only once did I feel I died a cheap death (and I died A LOT). If you want a Mass Effect type story driven RPG (I LOVE Mass Effect btw), DS is definitely not that, but that is fine with me.

Dark Souls:

* Story: relies heavily on atmosphere and nuance to create a sense of presence and mood, not overt.
* Combat: tactical, slower, steep learning curve.
* Equipment: mechanistic customization, not as randomly driven.
* Key feature: rewarding challenge.
* Extras: cool multiplayer element, dark, mood environment to roam.

Kingdoms of Amalur

* Story: beats you over the head with fantasy tropes.
* Combat: stylish, fast paced, not much thinking involved.
* Equipment: random loot system with crafting that overshadows it.
* Key feature: lots of (generic) fantasy content to explore.

I'll be honest, I kind of hated KoA after a certain point. It was fun at start, but quickly got kind of monotonous and boring. The experience doesn't evolve much over time, and most encounters feel very similar. The setting is extremely fantasy generic and in particular the elf-type people have some really bland, indecipherable quests and themes that just didn't catch me at all.

Dark Souls is a better game by a lot IMO.

I haven't played Dark Souls, so I can't really say anything there - but I really enjoyed KoA. I played that game for 80+ hours over the course of a couple weeks. By the time it was over, I was ready to move on and didn't purchase the (apparently great) DLC for it. But I do plan on playing that some day.

I really enjoyed the combat. The story was (as others have said) "meh" - but alright and I was not a huge fan of some of the NPCs.

The one thing I can complain about was that if you step foot in a zone/area the enemies in that area scale to your level and lock in at that level. This would normally be fine - except for the fact that sometimes a quest would have you take a step in an area you'd previously avoided without you even realizing it. Then, by the time you made it back there, things were waaay to easy.

I still heartily recommend the game. That's how much fun the combat was. :)
