It may be coming out soon in Japan, but Americans have to wait until the first half of 2013.

There's been some other information here and there but I'm not going to compile all of it.

I look forward to rekindling old flames with some of you~

I wonder if mean old hackers will ruin/enhance this game too with giveaways of valuable items? As of yet, it's not possible, but who knows what the future holds?

Is there interest in custom printable e-Cards for Legend of Zelda / Super Mario Bros. for the original Animal Crossing? It seems that if I invest some time into it, it can be possible.

Lin & Co. are uploading a subtitled version of the previously posted Nintendo Direct. Right now, they're at part 5 (around 34-37 minutes in), with about 10-13 minutes to go (They originally estimated that there would be 6-8 parts total). Here's a link to their playlist:

EDIT: Sumwheat subtitled the entire Nintendo Direct in one video, hit the Closed Caption button to see the subtitles:

The more I think about it, the more it pisses me off that this will only have one save. So me and my kids would have to buy 3 copies of the game. What a crock of sh*t. I guess I'll be waiting for the WiiU version.
Wait, so there's only one save file? Meaning 1 person per cartridge? Sucks. :(
No, it sounds like there can still be multiple people per town, like in Wild World. The 1 save file refers to the usual 1 town per cart. They apparently confirmed this in the previous trailer below. As the video's translator pointed out, it is unknown how much mayoral authority the other players will have; whether they can make public works decisions, or if they're just relegated to a standard AC role.

This is probably going to be my first digital download from Nintendo. I'm always going to want to have this game on hand.

Sigh - I'm going to get this but I wish they made some more substantial changes. I've been playing each new AC game less and less since the 100's of hours I put into the GC one. I've been calling for this since the DS version came out: unique places you could visit via Internet connection and obtain items not available in your regular game. This would also keep it fresh since they could make new areas to visit. The games get pretty stale for me much faster now.

Interesting thoughts on the digtial purchase. I have it preordered at Newegg for $30 (via a $10 off coupon a few weeks back), but might reconsider the digital purchase to have it there all the time. Though I don't play the 3DS all that much so putting the cart in and just leaving it there is pretty much the same thing.

I agree, io. Incremental changes in Mario, sure... that works, but only because platforming with such tight controls never stops being fun. But Animal Crossing needed a complete overhaul, not the comparatively minor changes we're getting. QR codes for exchanging designs is useful, rearranging the town in a more profound way is nice, but geez... do I have to buy another gee-dee set of dainty furniture?

Will still buy it, but man... I need something more than seasonal bugs to catch to keep me going through the daily AC grind again. If fishing wasn't the most relaxing veg-out experience in all of gaming, I'd probably pass on this one.
