They brought up the clip of Skyrim where someone made two guards do that gangnam style dance.
Then the one of the ladies says, whats skyrim? Is it a video game? The guy says, we might have to ask our twitter followers.
Another lady says I think its a video game.
And the original lady goes, oh it looks like that minecraft.
My kid plays that one.

I was like whaaaaa? Looks like minecraft?

Of course the song was playing and they all started doing the dance. They knew how to do the dance for sure though. ROFL

Anyways, its always so funny when someone is so in the dark about something.

Here is a fun fact: not everyone follows video games like we do, and therefore, it's likely that they wouldn't know what Skyrim and/or Minecraft really are.

And so they shouldn't do a piece on it. Part of journalism is research, in fact that's most of it.

This is a lighter subject so I really don't mind, but it's not difficult to remember more serious news segments on the gaming industry, and how unwilling reporters were in doing their actual jobs.

Really? Wow, I couldn't have guessed that at all.

Seriously dude? Thats like going into a thread that talks about how he thinks its funny that cats tend to land on there feet when they fall and then saying something like.
Here is a fun fact: they land on their feet because they are agile.

You really think I didn't realize that the reason they don't know is because they don't follow the gaming scene? I was making a comment on how I find it funny just how in the dark they are on the subject. And truly, after having seen Minecraft she thinks that Skyrim somehow visually looks like that?

Wouldn't that be funny if it was a newscaster? On the news?

Maybe to people on the internet, I think the rest of society doesn't give a shit.

I don't think I'm willing to take a local news station to task for bungling a video game name in a report on a K-Pop song.

The rest of my post said how I didn't mind the piece in particular, but rather the shortcomings of today's journalists in general. They don't research for light humor pieces, but they don't research much of anything when it comes to the games industry anyways, regardless of how serious the material is.

They aren't even sure why they are showing the clips they do, it's just oh, gangam style. It would be funnier if they at the very least could say something about the game, and Skyrim isn't exactly niche.

Wow, relax guys...

People say stupid shit about games all the time, even when they don't know anything about it. Even though games are now as popular as movies, it doesn't change the fact that there are still dinosaurs on the topic. Newscasters aren't smart, they just look nice and can read.

I'm just point out that just because people know the name of something doesn't mean they know what it actually is/looks like. My friend's new girlfriend said "I used to play Pikachu all the time when I was a kid" while we were having dinner a few weeks ago (she was trying to make a good impression, she's very nice). But I didn't come here to post about it.

Either you live in a very technologically/culturally modern area, but I've been hearing this stuff for years now. I don't know why you took what I said personally... I really don't. It wasn't meant to be insulting.

And so they shouldn't do a piece on it. Part of journalism is research, in fact that's most of it.

Lets be honest here... newscasters rarely, if ever, do their own research. They're mostly there to read teleprompters or make smart-ass comments.

Hey, they knew the actual proper names of two real video games. Two! That's pretty good compared to these things usually go.
