Can't wait to see what they'll knock down to $9.99 that week, or $4.99 after coupon.

KingOfOldSchool's FAQ

1. How does this work?

Basically, you bring in a DVD to Customer Service and they will give you a $5 off Blu-Ray coupon. Pretty simple.

2. Can you use it on any Blu-Ray?

Only on Blu-Rays $9.99 and up. Previously, music Blu-Rays have been excluded, but everything else is game.

3. Is there a limit of coupons you can receive?

5 per day seems to be the limit.

4. When does the coupons expire?

Last day of the promotion (8/11).

5. Do multiple disc DVDs = multiple coupons?

No. If you trade in a TV show season boxset = 1 coupon, not 3 or 4.

6. Can I trade in ANY DVD?

Naturally, they won't accept DVD-R/RW's nor will they accept pornos. So, no trading in Wii Like 2 Part 3.

7. Can this be applied to past orders?

No. At most you can do a return/rebuy, but you would have to pay the current price so it may not be worth it.

8. Do I get the coupon back if I return the Blu-Ray I used a coupon on?

YMMV. Rule of thumb, be sure you are content with what you're getting before you use a coupon on it.

9. Do the DVDs I trade have to have the actual artwork and any inserts?

YMMV, but unless you get a real douche at CS, most won't care as long as it's in a case. (Generic DVD case will do)

10. I'm low on DVDs, any suggestions?

Dollar stores and places like Big Lots will occasionally carry $1 DVDs that you can get to trade in to Best Buy. Garage sales work as well if you can find one that is selling DVDs on the cheap.

11. Do coupons stack?

Nope. 1 coupon = 1 Blu-Ray purchase. Of course you can use multiple coupons in one transaction if you are purchasing the same amount of Blus.

They're really pumping these out now. Last one was like less then 2 months ago wasn't it?

Not that I'm complaining.

Good thing no games I want in October come out til the 30th.

Is that credible? It just appears to be a guy on another message board saying it's confirmed, without any links or anything. Is he a credible source?

Yes, he works at BB (or Anderson Merchandisers rather, the company that puts products, and shelf tags on shelves, etc..) and provides a lot of insider info over there
Damn. This sale always hurts my wallet. Not this time though, too many games to buy instead.
why choose the 100% trade in has been great & it lasted for such a long time. Games, movies, PS Vita I think Ima grab that PS3 3D TV & tablet too. Games are covered thank to pm'ing & $20 promo but I'll keep $400 avail. for a PS3 deal & some BF/X-mas shopping.

I really hope we can buy the BB Bond exclusives On her Majesty's secret service, You only live twice, and The spy who loved me for $4.99 a piece. If this happens, I will crap my pants. I will walk into the Best Buy bluray section and literally crap myself.

YMMV of course but it might be possible to apply the Upgrade and save coupon and the $5 Cinderella DMR coupon. If you preorderd the steelbook, even better.

BB employees should honor 1 Manufacturers coupon and 1 best buy coupon, but I've been turned down several times.

Cinderella is $27.99 this week, but who knows the price next week. Maybe $29.99 or $34.99. And I'm not sure when the DMR coupon expires.

It expires 10/7, so you'd only have 1 day to possibly use both.

I've done that multiple times in the past and if BB says anything that you can't do it, they're 100% in the wrong. They get reimbursed for the manufacturer coupon, so they lose nothing in accepting it and have to take it.

How odd that it works through Sunday. The only factor that could potentially screw you is how much of a mark up there will be if it's off sale next week. Bit of a gamble there but I think I'll take the risk.

Simple: I'm a college student. I've only got enough money for one entertainment hobby like gaming/movies this time of year. Books are expensive, yo. Well, that and the Wii U in November. :D

Only found a few blu-rays that I wanted last time, hopefully I have more luck this time as I have a box of 30+ DVDs that just sits in my house waiting for this program to roll around.

That is most definitely not true. No store HAS to take any coupons you give them. They get reimbursed for them so from a customer service standpoint it makes sense for them to take them but they don't "have" to.

But by utilizing this

I've skyrocketed my spending from $1600 at the beginning of May to over $5400 now with another 3100 pending RZ points. Take $100 becomes $250 then $400 then $800 & so on. Work the system right your books will be covered, Wii U + games paid off & still have several hundred dollars left over.

I had some scratched kids DVDs, Dollar Tree DVDs, and stuff I just plain don't want anymore waiting for this one. Depending on the price I'm grabbing the E.T. digibook, Little Shop of Horrors, Red Dawn, and Madagascar 3 w/ polka dot afro (kid's Christmas, will probably have more fun with the wig but oh well). I also wanted A League of Their Own, but found out it's Amazon exclusive.

Of course I'll be grabbing some $5 Blus. Hopefully they have $5 movie cash ones this time. Taken 2 should be there at least.

That's what I came to say. Hopefully they aren't lame and price them at $14.99.
Time to find $1 DVDs
I hit all my Dollar Trees and Big Lots and came up empty.

But every once in a while you can find a seller on Craigslist who isn't overvaluing his collection and can pick them up for $1 a piece... and condition won't even matter since you're flipping it anyway.

If they're a retailer of the product and it's a manufacturer coupon, they're required to take it. They're reimbursed for it, so they lose nothing on the deal. If it's a store coupon, that's another matter, as it is money they're losing on accepting it.

Awesome news - and great timing too! :D

I'm hoping to pick up some new releases that are coming out during this sale window, assuming they aren't cheaper elsewhere:
Prometheus 3D
ET
The Great Mouse Detective
Pete's Dragon
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 7

Also, I might nab a few Disney/Ghibli movies I'm missing from my collection (Treasure Planet, Home on the Range, Castle in the Sky, & Whisper of the Heart) if they're cheap.

Looking forward to the new $9.99 lists too! :D

I understand. I've used 1 manufacturers coupon and 1 best buy coupon successfully at least 15 times. Several of those times I had to say what you said about the "1 manufacturer coupon, 1 BB coupon policy" and that the store will be reimbursed.

I've also been turned down at least 15 times. This happened at the same stores that accepted them before. There were just different employees and different managers present. Sometimes I've had the store manager straight up lie to me and tell me that they don't ever get reimbursed for manufacturers coupons. I just drive to the next BB store instead of arguing and burning bridges.

Anyone wondering how the heck I even managed to do it successfully at least 15 times should know that I've bought a lot of blurays during every single U&S except the very first one. I used many coupons from coupons.com and I used many many many Universal $3 100 year coupons.

At three different BB stores, I couldn't get them to apply the Descendents coupon and the U&S coupon. Off the top of my head, I remember I got it to work for The Crow, Mimic, Apollo 13, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, The Sting, Babe, American Graffiti, American Pie, Casino and Parenthood. Ninety percent of the time that it worked, I still had to convince the BB employee that I wasn't breaking any BB policies. In my experience it's been easier when I'm spending a lot of money on a lot of movies and not just buying cheap $1.99 blurays.

I guess it's time to prepare for the question:

"I don't understand. So I can trade in *any* DVD? Or does it have to be the same title?"

I love it when the OP on these UaS deals explains literally everything, yet this question pops up no less than three dozen times. It almost gets to a point where I SWEAR it has to be trolls just asking the question to annoy. Anyway, looking forward to this sale again :)
Blockbuster is having a 50% off sale, I was able to find some $1.00 and .50 cents DVD's there.
Is this storewide at all Blockbusters or only certain stores? I already bought a bunch of Dollar Tree DVDs, but I will have to check this out regardless.

Just a word of warning. I've been turned down a few times for my movies being in Blockbuster cases. I simply walk out to my car, put them in normal DVD cases, and walk back in.
Def in for Prometheus and Cabin in the Woods if it goes on sale again.
I just finished watching Cabin in the Woods right now. Wow. I mean wow. I hope it is $19.99 again sometime during the U&S so we can get it for $14.99. I loved the hell out of this film. While watching it, I felt like this movie was made just for me. I can't believe my library had this on DVD and that I got it on release week.

I can't wait to watch it again.

I have a feeling they might be $14.99. That's why I promise to crap myself if we can get them for $4.99. When the BB employee hands me the receipt, I will unload in my trousers.

You're not wrong. The next thing that happens is people saying "as long it's not a DVDr or pornography." And then the next thing that happens is someone saying "Darn it, I was planning on trading in my copy of Teenage Brazilian Bubble Booties 14."

From my experience and others most stores are picky about needing a COMPLETE DVD (art, box)...to "recycle". YMMV on whether the rep accepts/notices regions, scratches, and duplicate dvds.

I look for kmart.com, sears.com, walmart & target. $10 or less for me already saw the B/R for $15.99 a week ago. I'd suggest looking for the obscure combo packs sometimes BB has like 3-4 B/R packs & the only thing missing in the UV or digital copy mainly. They're listed on the site w/o a pic but the store reps just look at it as a B/R & match the BB.com price. Save you're coupons for better deals.

True. I usually stick to $4.99 movies during the U&S promotions. Sometimes I get adventurous and spend $7.99 if it's something I really want. I bought Thor 3D and Captain America 3D for $19.99 each which was unusual for me. This time around there's some more expensive stuff I'll probably buy because I have a shitload of BB credit.

I didn't know I wanted to buy Cabin in the Woods until today. I just watched it for the first time and now I realize it's something I will want to own on bluray and watch over and over again.

It's hard for me to get my Best Buy's to pricematch worth a damn, especially Bestbuy.com. I always get turned down. Where did they have the bluray for $15.99? On bestbuy.com? I wish I would have known I wanted to buy it back then.
