I'm guessing it was a movie that came out in the 80's, maybe early 90's. It's about a group of aliens crashing on Earth and some kids find them. There was some kind of connection to the War of the Worlds broadcast. Something about it not being a hoax.

I remember watching this movie a bunch of times as a kid. I just can't remember the name.
 
I loved that movie when I was a kid. I hadn't thought of it in forever before this thread. Now I kinda want to pick it up and watch it for Halloween.
 
That's it, thanks. It's been bugging me for a couple days. I was talking to a friend about the orginal War of the Worlds and this movie popped in my head. Like you said I seriously have not thought of this movie for years.
