looks like a planescape tormetn map... speakin of which, lemme tell u what I didnt like about the game and maybe u can explain to me and tell me the correct direction to take!!

one is combat. I kno the game is not supposed to stress combat, but that never stopped me from getting ganged up on by a group of bandits or a bunch of bats & spiders! I dont kno what to do, my warrior keeps whiffing all his attacks, and I always end up dying >_<

so becoz fans keep insisting combat isnt important I figured OK constantly running away and avoiding enemies as much as possible is a solution... would I be correct into thinking that?

so that's the ez part for me to get over with. The main thing that stresses me out most of all is inventory.

I have all these items, I'm running out of space, I'm almost over my weight limit, and I never know what I'm supposed to do!! I have an earring, I'm wearing it, I don't know what it does, but it has an option to identify it, but only if you have the spell to do so. So I hold onto it, in the meantime I get another earring that also I have no idea what it does, yet I'm scared to toss it.

I have like 3 "runes" on me, I have no idea what runes are, but they're highlighted in Red suggesting I cant use them, does that mean I save them until I can? while all the while they weigh down my weight quota?

then a bunch of other items usable by thieves only... did I do something wrong, should I be a thif by now?!?! did I miss something??

I mean I can see why people enjoy this game, assuming they have the time to really explore the world, becoz the game does not do a good job pointing you in directions and just leaves it up to the player to remember everything.

on top of that there's so much here, it feels like a game where the point of it is to talk to every single thing and touch anything that can be touched. so overwhelmed!!!

1: Running isn't a horrible idea if outmatched, but since dying doesn't matter much in most cases, there's also not too much harm in losing. Unless you're seriously grinding Undersigil later on in the game, quest EXP is far-and-away more important than EXP from fighting, so you aren't missing out on too much. That said, as the game goes on, your party should get a hell of a lot better at killing things (though those fucking Undersigil monsters are pretty much always pricks), and you should be able to stand up to the monsters in the catacombs semi-decently with just a bit of micromanagement. And early on in the game when EXP required for a level is low and you don't have many quests under your belt, killing a few wimpy enemies can come in really handy to help you stand up to the more powerful monsters.

2: Most (all?) stores can identify items for you.

3: Those runes that you got from the giant skeleton? Mages can use them to learn spells, just like with scrolls. Now, you said that you were fighting bats and spiders, which... aren't in the game, but there are enemies that kinda-sorta look like bats, so if you're fighting those, that means you've met Pharod. And that means you've both had the chance to recruit a mage (Dak'kon, a fighter/mage who hangs out in the Smouldering Corpse) and you've talked to the mage trainer, Old Mebbeth. Dak'kon already knows versions of most of the spells on those runes, I think, but you can teach him what you can for the EXP and sell the rest if you don't want them yourself. You can get another pure mage companion shortly after leaving the catacombs as well.

4: There's a thief trainer in Ragpicker Square to complement Mebbeth the mage trainer, but he's much easier to overlook. It doesn't matter too much, as you're coming up on a fighter/thief companion soon, and she can handle any and all thieving in the game pretty easily. I usually hold off on becoming a thief until later in the game because there's a trainer in another part of Sigil who gives you an awesome weapon when he teaches you.

5: If/when you do change classes, keep in mind that it's super easy to change back. Like, once you've learned to be a mage, you can swap between mage and fighter by talking to Dak'kon. Once you've learned to be a thief, you can swap between thief and fighter by talking to your thief. Even if you don't intend to use those classes, you should still check them out, as a mage has special dialogue with mage companions and a thief has special dialogue with the thief companion (albeit nowhere near as cool). The only class you can't be is the priest, and you're a ways off of getting one of those.

EDIT: And in case you're wondering, though you can swap between the three core classes via trainers and companions, you can never be two different things at the same time like some of your companions. PST had the loosest interpretation of 2e rules of any of the Infinity Engine games, and it shows with the implementation of classes.

First off, I'm predisposed to like this, since this is the game that was a primary motivation to buy a PS3 in the first place, so take this for what it is worth.

In context, the first battle in the demo is supposed to be easy, since it is still part of the tutorial process. Unfortunately, without some of the other ones, you lose the context. Also, I suspect a big part of the game is about collecting and upgrading your familiars, which wasn't in the demo.

I suspect the target age for this game is younger than your typical JRPG fan, so I probably wouldn't expect super challenging gameplay, but charm is certainly there, having Ghibli animate the cutscenes and Joe Hisaishi doing the soundtrack adds a lot to the game. I'm looking forward to seeing where the game goes.

New Vegas: Dead Money complete.
Spoiler

I'm playing a high-strength melee/explosives-oriented character, which meant a lot of knife spearing dudes, a lot of landmines strewn across the casino, and a lot of headshot decapitations with throwing spears. I'm also using the jsawyer.esp balance mod, so my HP and carry capacity are way lower than normal, which is kind of a pain in the ass as far as getting good loot out of a DLC goes. Came out with two fully repaired BARs even though they require 100 gun skill to use efficiently and I have, like... 25.

Was it as good as Honest Hearts? No. I really liked Christine and Elijah, but Honest Hearts had the survivalist journals, and it takes a Fuck of a lot to top that. Dead Money also had some really irritating trial-and-error stuff later on with its hidden radio signals. Still, it did have some baller-tier ambient sound, and the
Spoiler
were super unnerving.

Off to do Old World Blues and hope that my fairly highish level hasn't turned all the enemies into ungodly HP-sinks.

Oh, yeah, if you don't have Dak'kon yet, you're definitely going to have trouble with early fights. Like, it's not impossible - no Dak'kon would mean way more EXP for The Nameless One and Morte, after all - but he's really handy to have around. Just keep in mind that since he's half fighter and half mage, he's super god damn fragile. He has good armour and is decently dodgy (I think he has 0 AC compared to The Nameless One's default of 9 or so; this is a 2e game, so better armour lowers a character's armour class. Fuck 2e, man.), but with his HP, he really can't tank much. Remember that you can use Morte's taunts to force enemies to focus on him sometimes, which is especially handy against mages.

And if you haven't done the rounds in the Smouldering Corpse, definitely talk to O and the bartender, and if you have time, spend a bit of time with Ebb Creaknees at his table on the west side of the bar and the two "vacationing" Devils on the east side.

Still waiting for GS.com to deliver my Ni No Kuni (only ordered it there for the Steelbook) and for B&N to ship my fucking guide. My game should be here shortly but no clue when the guide is being shipped, hopefully soon because it's been selling out and I refuse to pay $40 for it.

Anyone know of any good deals on Fire Emblem for 3DS? Going to grab it but was wondering if I can get it without paying full retail.

It has KH 1, Chain of Memories, and 358/2 (just the cutscenes, all fully voiced).

Still exciting to see it's coming though. Hopefully we get the final mix version. Maybe 358/2 won't be such a bore.

Anyone here planning on double dipping on Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate on WiiU and 3DS?

I'm seriously considering it. It'd be great to have it on 3DS to grind out single player missions on work trips (which are becoming more and more frequent... sigh) and then transfer my save to the WiiU and take the character online. Here's hoping to a preorder deal if you preorder both!

Ni No Kuni Ps3 is fantastic, and yes it's alot more challenging then what the demo would make it seem. The art, story, and most important battle system is fast, innovating and exciting. This is in my top 3 RPG's I played this generation, up their with Tales of Vesperia and Lost Odyessey. If you appreciate that tradional JRPG, this game is for you.

9.5/10 if I had to rate it (15 hours in)
