THRUSTMASTER T500 RS GT5 Wheel $349.99 Newegg

For a second there I thought it said $34.99 and I made a mad dash to grab my wallet off the dresser. Always wanted a racing wheel but I can't see myself spending $349.99 on one.
The official GT5 wheel! Still too expensive for me. I'd rather get a G27 for that price.
I think the G27 MSRP is $200 now.
Thrustmaster? I assume the name was chosen tongue in cheek...
At that price, it better do more than just drive a virtual car...

The Logitech G27 wheel's good for the price, which you can find for $200 - $225 on sale randomly but it's most definitely not worth $350. It was actually on sale for $150 awhile back at Best Buy. I sold mine & made some dough on it at that time. The Thrustmaster T500RS is a in league of it's own compared to a G27! Ranks right up there with Fanatec wheels (really just personal preference once you get past the $300+ mark unless you're talking about crazy badass $1K+ setup's). I can understand why the average consumer wouldn't spend that kind of money on a wheel but once you use that (or a Fanatec wheel), you'll see there's a HUGE difference (accuracy & features) with other less expensive wheels. FWIW, if you can find a good deal on the Logitech Driving Force GT (GT5 wheel with the real-time adjustment red knob) then that's a good wheel for the price ($75 - $100).

Sold both G27 & Playseat Raceseat (the limited edition Forza version) awhile back but I want to get another combo (just purchased the T500RS wheel on Newegg this morning). I'm not too concerned about the price of the wheel, I'm more concerned about the price of a proper raceseat setup ($300 - $1K+) & no, I wouldn't want to ghetto rig it using a computer desk, LOL! I'm leaning towards the Obutto Revolution but haven't decided yet.

Thats rad item, but basically throwing money out the window for normal folk. But ya that would be awesome with a seat and some sort of enclosure.
in for two or a small old real car, hmmm, what to do?
Judging by your sig and avatar I'm surprised that you don't have a racing setup.
Is this bad boy easy to store when you are not using it?
Basically no but really depends on your raceseat. Some raceseats fold in half (Playseat) while most others don't. Unless you want to unbolt it (if you use the pre-drilled holes on your raceseat wheel mount) or unclamp it from the wheel mount area (or a desk) then put it away which would be annoying after awhile but that's just me. My wife can't say shitz because it's in my mancave, LOL! I'll just put it to the side of the room like I did with my old setup when not in use.

actually I do I have (no lie) 6 racing wheels, all Logitech gt models, except for M$ 360 and the wireless new 'U" one. I love the racing games, but this wheel is a little steep for me.

Cool thanks for the info.

I agree. I always stick with Logitech as well, never used a Thrustmaster.

The thrustmaster destroys the logitech G27. I also like it better than the fanatec. I have a big problem with unreliable product and spotty customer support fanatec tends to have.

Wow, I really wish this wasn't the day I bought a Vita and replaced my PS3, haha. I have the cheapie GT5 Logitech wheel ($100ish, I forget the name) but this thing would be a dream come true. I've wanted one of the insane ones for nearly every GT release, and the one I have now is the nicest one i've ever had even though its a cheap plastic setup.

Anyway, some day! For anyone who picked up GT5 today, you owe it to yourself to get at least a cheapie wheel as long as it can do complete turns. It is built for a wheel in every single way, unlike every other console "sim". As soon as you're comfortable turning all assists off, the wheel is the way to go for full control. It also actually has separate options for all popular wheel models, but i'm not sure if there are any left out. I know they patched in better G27 support after launch iirc so hopefully most are supported.

LOL, nothing ever changes, nice PC peripherals get ripped here. LOL at people not knowing the Thrustmaster name either.

This is a great deal for those looking for it.

Completely agree!...Then again, what do you expect on a forum called, Cheap Ass Gamer, haha!
G27 has shift gear and much cheaper price.
Wow, really guy?!? ROFLMAO!!! As I previously stated, the Thrustmaster wheel's in a league of its own compared to a G27. I'm not posting anymore in this thread because it's getting ridiculous. Sigh...
