This is probably the Last trade and save I'll take advantage of.
Stock at my local stores is a complete joke. And I HATE that they combined DVDs with Blu Rays to "save space".
One store that used to be HUGE, completely remodeled their store, and put up temporary walls, cutting the floor space by about 75%.
Now they have only 1 isle of movies (dvd/blu ray combined).
I expect bankruptcy sales within a year.

Wow we have about 10 double rows in my store. Yeah the combination is a pain, but if you like genres is pretty nice.

Oh ok, I looked for it every time I've been to best buy during this promotion but still have not found any version of it except a DVD triple pack that had I on it. I almost bought it until I realized it was DVD. Lol

Seven Psychopaths comes out next week. If it's a good sales price to begin with, U&S would be beneficial.

Wow we have about 10 double rows in my store. Yeah the combination is a pain, but if you like genres is pretty nice.

If you like their idea of what they think movie genres fall under, that is. I don't even browse anymore. If I'm not looking for specific titles, I'm not looking period. It's bad enough trying to find a movie that's been placed in the wrong genre.

My buy/sell/trade list: http://www.cheapassg...ad.php?t=230525

To the "If I send you an offer via PM, please respond to it even if you aren't interested" guy, I'm still waiting to hear back from you after I sent you a PM in July of 2009.

I agree I hate the whole add the DVD's and blu rays together. If you want email this guy.

Mike.Mohan@bestbuy.com

He is the Senior VP & General Manager Home Business Group. If you do email him try to be polite and just let him know that combing the the two is not a good idea and just bad for business overall. I email the actual CEO on Jan. 12th and got a response from the VP the same day.

Here is what he said.

Dear Mr. ********

Thank you for the note to Hubert and your feedback. My name is Mike Mohan. I am the General Manager of the Home Business Group at Best Buy, and report directly into Hubert Joly. The Blu Ray movie category is in this business group. I appreciate the feedback you provided on shopping for Blu Ray movies in our stores – our intent of the change we last year was to improve the shopping experience in addition to simplifying it. Consumer research from all of the movie studios, and research we commissioned directly by Best Buy strongly indicated the way we changed our merchandising was going to enable a better customer shopping experience. If you are comfortable in letting me know what store(s) you shop the most, I will have our operations team take a look at their processes to ensure the movies are actually ending up in their proper places, solving one of the concerns you raised. If you have any additional feedback you would like to share, either about our stores or our website, you are welcome to send it directly to me.

Thank you for being a Reward Zone Premier Silver customer.

Regards,

Mike Mohan

Senior Vice President & General Manager
Home Business Group

Best Buy Co., Inc.

As you can see, they had a research group do it but really those people must have been dumb as hell. Either way you can email the CEO as well.

hubert.joly@bestbuy.com

I'm sure if enough people continue to email them that may consider changing it. Just remember to be polite.

Oh and sunnysky, I was thinking about what you said. About the whole store being walled up. Maybe they are getting ready to sell furniture in you store. They were running a pilot program at some store where the cleared out a whole section for furniture. God forbid it my store did that.

Had my third visit during this Upgrade and Save today. Had a friend with me so I was able to score 10 Blu's. Got Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Unforgiven, Training Day, Scrooged. X-Men Origins Wolverine, I Saw The Devil, Jumanji, and Planes, Trains and Automobiles for $5 each. And got Green Lantern 3D and The Breakfast Club for $10 each. Breakfast Club was $5 last week and I thought it still was.

I agree with this, they put Dark shadows in Family, and Princess diaries in comedy. 69 Hey, I'm the guy that decides what genre movies go in at best buy CATCH! (sorry had to throw in a powerpuff girls reference)

all this talk about the DVDs and BDs being mixed in is useless and a complete joke. If you can't spot the difference b/t the two in .5 seconds, maybe you should just stick to streaming options where you don't have to tell the difference b/t a half of an inch..when I first saw it, sure it annoyed me, but its really not that hard..OH and plus the color BLUE

The bigger problem is genre division, not format consolidation, which I think is what most people have the problem with.

It's easy to tell if they're both available. But there are blurays that use DVD cases, and other instances where it's not as easy to tell.

Traded in 5 more DVDs.

So far I copped:

- Kill Bill Vol.2
- Inception
- The Matrix SB
- Batman Begins SB
- The Dark Knight SB
- Zombieland
- Lincoln Lawyer
- 300/Troy/Alexander
- Kick-Ass
- Bad Boys

Got enough on my GC to get 5 more movies once I trade in some more. Need to get Kill Bill Vol.1 and Sin City. Hopefully I can find The Departed.

Edit: Got Sin City. Last one in the store :bouncy:

It's annoying because in the past during upgrade and save sales, I'd look at my list online, but I would also sweep through the blu-ray section to see if any caught my eye that I might have missed seeing. That increases the retail space to sift through by 5 or 6 fold.

It's also annoying because in the past you could just go down the list alphabetical to find it, now you have to outguess what genre best buy considers a movie. I spent 10 minutes trying to find the last copy in the store of Dylan Dog: Dead of Night last sale and eventually found that it had been classified a drama.

Made a 3rd run to use that left over coupon and trade in 3 more I'd upgraded.

Got (after coupon prices):

Kick Ass ($4.99)
The Princess Bride ($4.99)
The Artist ($9.99)
The Hunger Games ($12.99)

Also grabbed Snatch for $7.99.

I'm likely done for this go around as I've pretty much exhausted my stores $9.99-14.99 releases that I'm interested in. Still missed out on L.A. Confidential.

I do have Snatch on DVD, so that's one more I can definitely trade in if some more stuff goes on sale next week. But based on past sales, I doubt there will be enough to be worth my while vs. just waiting for the next promo in a couple of months.
