Now that I have a Vita, I'm finding that I'm a little loathe to set it down because I'm afraid of it picking up dings on the back, so I'd like to pick up something that'll prevent that from happening. This looks cheap, but are there any better options around the price range?

I'd also like a screen protector of some kind. A friend of mine who has a Vita recommended an invisibleSHIELD, which doesn't cover the back. Should I pick up something cheaper?

Get the Vault case for real good protection & the Pull Go folio as the best overall case. Walmart s the place for the USB, headset & car adaptor since they're all on perm rollback. They also have the 12 game/1 memory card holder for $4. Stay away from the official Sony starters kit the pouch is just that a pouch everything else in it is weak.

GS has the official portable charger for $30 & per Sony memory cards will see a price cut this yr.

I got the hori screen protector and I love it. It covers the entire front face with cut outs for buttons and the camera. Here is a youtube video that is particularly helpful:

It was a little confusing at first but the video makes a lot of sense. Just make sure their is absolutely NO dust or dirt on the screen before applying; I got a small air bubble on the corner of my screen because I didn't double check (doesn't bother me) but on my girlfriend's white AC Vita I did a better job and you can't even see the screen protector once applied:

I use this as a permacase:

I got the official Sony starters kit and it has worked great for me. The front screen protector is really good, and I really like the game carrying case as well (8 games/2 memory card slots). The pouch is definitely a pouch, but it will protect it from scratches and dings when it's in there, it just won't protect it from any sort of fall. Also got a 4GB memory card in it, which I now have 3 of, and with a little bit of planning, can easily use to balance my memory needs.

I don't know how much it retails for, but I got it for $25 from Amazon before Black Friday and have been extremely happy with it.

OP - If you set the Vita down gently, I have no idea how it would pick up dings on the back. If you're absolutely terrified of that happening, set it down on a small towel or something.
