I'm about to start on my NES/SNES collection. Then onto PS1.

First, how can you claim prior non-existance to devalue a movement? I am sure the civil rights movement would love that. "Well, there was no movement to free the slaves before, so why is it relavent now?"

Fellow collector, gamer, and N64 lover here.

I just wanted to say VGA graded games are the stupidist thing to ever happen to this hobby. Any moron can inspect a sealed copy and assign it a meaningless rating based on the condition of the box and the cellophane but it takes a special kind of douche to need (or be impressed by) the validation of some arbitrary 3rd party, self declared expert body. What are you planning to do, wear a VGA 95 graded Clay Fighter Sculpters Cut on a chain at the BET awards?

Wanting a complete N64 collection for bragging rights is bad enough as 70% of the games are hot garbage but going one step further and slabbing them? lol...you obviously have more money than sense.

Taking into account the price some of these slabbed games are selling for on ebay, you really don't think some Chinese counterfitter is working on or has already infiltrated the market with sealed N64 games? I mean with a few gold foil exceptions, it's just cardboard, ink and plastic wrap. H seal, Y seal...for $700-5,000 US dollars I'm sure they could replicate an "artist formerly known as prince" seal (or even an official VGA label).

Please keep posting updates...this is impressive in the same way as a guy two hand streching his man hole into the diameter of a dinner plate and posting pictures of it on the internet is impressive - what ever brings you pleasure right?

If you're actually a VGA owner/employee, and you're just posting here to drum up legitimacy for your business - well played! Please disregard the above vitriol. I admire and respect your ability to separate fools from their money. Brilliant hustle indeed.

*jumping high-five* This is one of the best posts I've ever read on CAG. VGA grades are the biggest scam in gaming.

It's true that the N64 was not known for having a particularly solid library. Sure, there were some stand-out titles that are worth having. But I've never even considered getting a complete N64 collection.

While I can understand the appeal in getting a "complete" collection, it's neve been something I've pursued. I like to go after critically acclaimed titles or games with noteworthy or unique design. Picking up every title for a system just seems like a waste to me, given how many shovel-ware titles get produced.

To tell you all the truth ive been thinking about sending some of my games out to be graded. Im not really after the grade or increase in value i just want the piece of mind it can offer and the case protection im after. Ive had lots of toys afa graded by the same company and while i dont particularly use it to increase the value it always does. Its really the best way ive found to cheap mint toys mint and easy to display. I have a few old starwars mint in box figures and some are afa graded and some arent. Even though they sit in the same room in various positions the afa ones are still bright and new like the day i bought them and the still sealed un-graded ones are dull or faded.

Some people want the satisfaction to brag, to have some confort that the item is going to be safe and perhaps preserving value?

Doing a whole collection is a bit goofy and idiotic and I personally would have only certain games, items, collectibles graded.

I don't sell my personal cherished items, so they would just be for display.

If you have the cash then by all means go for it, but it can be quite pricey...
