Reveal trailer (1/23/2013)

Trailer looks pretty bad ass. I officially want a Wii U.

I also love that X... very Xenogears-esque.

EDIT* Some people are saying that's Shulk at the end of the trailer but I'm not entirely sure... though it really looks like him.
Lets see if Nintendo hopefully releases this before 2017
Let's see if NoA actually makes an effort to release this here... or if we have to import from Europe and then wait for another Gamestop deal before NoA folds.

This looks awesome. Sort of a Phantasy Star/Monster Hunter vibe. Day one purchase if it makes it here.

Now all I have to do is find Xenoblade. I should have it tomorrow if I'm lucky.

You won't regret it! This game, along with Monster Hunter, were the main reasons I wanted a Wii U. Xenoblade was originally released in June 2010, so I don't think a 2014 release is out of the question.
Since the Nintendo Direct was broadcasted on NoA website, I think that it is a given we are going to see it.
I wasn't entirely serious... but this is the same company that, after hearing all our cries for the game, told us to wait 3 days for an exciting announcement... and then told us no. But yes, I realize we'll get it the first time around this time.:)

I don't know why, but the graphics/battles gave me a Mass Effect vibe. It looks a lot faster than the first game (or maybe that's just how the video was made).

I am a HUGE Xenoblade fan, as is one of my close friends. As soon as I showed him this video he started shopping for a deal on a Wii-U. :D

I am definitely down I need to get back into Xenoblade.starting to finish up a lot of my backlog when that is over I am setting up my wii and dedicating all of my time to Xeno :)

Can't wait. Xenoblade sequel in HD is godly. Plus fighting huge monsters = win. :D

This and SMT X FE justified my Wii-U purchase because I have my PC to do all of my FPS and Action gaming. My Wii-U is for Japanese games and well this does it.

As much as I'm still not sold on the Wii U, they keep doing more games like that, then I'm not going to be able to turn one down forever, but then again if like the GC or Wii I won't be getting one for 2-3 years, so no worries.

If they build it (the software) then I will come (buy one).

The games make the system.

Always have, always will.

I'm hoping the Wii U drops before this comes out. I can wait on Wind Waker HD (since I can already play it in HD, even if it's not as good as the actual HD) but this game looks sweet. Nintendo is definitely bringing the games.

once i saw the gundam robot thing i knew that I really wanted this game. never played the original but i might have to change that once i make a dent in my backlog

New trailer was amazing. Makes me think of what Xenogears might look like if they remade it. Manly tears.
It may not be as good as a remake, but if you're curious... emulation often helps. Unfortunately, there's no ideal way to re-render sprites, which made up a significant portion of this game's assets.

Any word on a release date?
Only that it's coming in 2014... no indication of when (summer, fall, etc.) though. I'm thinking it'll come out sooner, rather than later given that Xenoblade was released in 2010 and I'm assuming they started working on X sometime after that.

Xenogears will unfortunately forever look like shit because Nintendo now owns Monolith and Square Enix's head is wayyy up their ass.
I guess I should count myself lucky that shitty graphics in old games don't bother me. :p

Even if it was remade, I'd be willing to bet SE would fuck it up my doing something stupid like adding unnecessary convolution to the story and increasing the white feather count by 10 fold. If Nintendo remade it, they'd probably replace Fei and Elle with Mario and Peach... instead of Gears, you'd have Karts... and instead of an awesome story, you'd have something about Mario inviting everyone over for a Party to play board games.

So is this going to be a gamestop exclusive too? Wonder if it will include an up-rez'd version of the first game since sonmany people never got to play it?

I don't think so. This was shown on the Nintendo Direct so I am assuming if it's not retailer wide, it's at least GS, Amazon, BB, Newegg.

If they HD Xenoblade I will crap myself, literally. Hell if they said $60 HD Xenoblade I would buy it right now, lol.

GS is now selling used Xenoblade Chronciles for $70. This is the second highest I've ever seen a used game at GS (highest was Marvel vs Capcom 2 for the PS2, at $80, before that was re-released).

I still don't think we'll see a reprint or re-release any time soon. Nintendo only seems to reprint/re-release their popular franchises. Lets not forget that this game didn't sell out for a while so to Nintendo. Even Prime Trilogy isn't getting a reprint and that game's been OoS longer and sells for just as much in the aftermarket.

I'm kinda lost as to whether to not this is a follow up or some kind of sequel/prequel that takes place long before/after the events of the first, but I'm no less excited.

fucking delayed... not surprised at all but still fuck you Nintendo for insisting it was 2014 for so long.  Guess I won't be getting a WiiU this year.

No, Xenoblade is only $50 used and GS reprints it 8 months ago. No reason they can't again. Also, GS ordered a reprint of Metroid Prime Trilogy. I can't tel if you're trolling or not. GameStop has reprinted Cave Story and some other "rare" Nintendo Wii and 3DS games this year as well. It's been hugely discussed.

I made that post almost a year ago...
Whoops my bad. I didn't realize that people were necroing old threads and updating the topic name. Interesting to see the assumptions about reprints though. Just goes to show that video games are not an investment.

There's basically been nothing new revealed about the game until now.

Added a lengthy gameplay video. Can't watch it now because I'm at work... bah!

I wonder if this will get released in Nintendo's "RPG window" of February, like Fire Emblem Awakening and Bravely Default in past years.  It's still on track for a 2014 release in Japan, so it seems possible.

I wouldn't hold your breath considering all the videos were subbed and demos untranslated.

Treehouse demo was pretty great overall in that this is more Xenoblade. Character design is underwhelming. I would've expected more improvement from a Wii game but maybe faces and such just aren't their thing.

I thought the same thing... the world and monsters are stunning in size and detail but the characters look really bland.
