That was what I was trying to do (two seperate trans.) And the guy pretty much blew me off
And was like oh its fine ill just do it all in one. So yeah pretty mad that I have to head back.

The 12 game issue doesn't always come up, but from what you described, it's back.

I guess it works if they're trying to reduce cash on hand in the store. I think they should just quit doing cash trades all together.

But if cash trades are reduced from credit then cash trades are worth more to Gamestop's bottom line than people who trade for credit? That makes no sense to stop more profit?

Cash trades are less likely to spend more money at GameStop so while they would get more from the resale of the games they traded in, in theory, the credit forces people to keep shopping there and they get continued money from those purchases. Also either scenario is directed more towards the uninformed not people like CAGs.

Yes, they give more when doing credit trades, but it is credit. There is a certain amount of shrinkage on that (i.e., people forgetting/losing credit) plus it means they don't have cash going out the door. (Like JP says, the credit has to be spent at GS unlike the cash which I'm sure a very high percentage is not spent there).

Personally, I feel like I need to get to GS ASAP before they change their minds on the Kindle cards. I have a surplus of GS credit thanks mostly to 2 iPhone trade-ins I've done in the last few months (where I got more for them in GS credit than I spent at Best Buy upgrading them). Like many others, my plan was simply to use that for PS4/Nextbox. But even so, I think I have more than enough so some of it needs to go to Amazon (where my wife chews through credit getting Kindle books ;)).

And while this new trade-in promo sounds nice, I know I'll have a hard time finding 7 games to trade in.

Anyone know if these two promos stack? I'd guess they don't (this is Gamestop, after all), but it's worth a shot I guess.

-50% extra store credit on all trade ins; got it from PUR Pro
-extra $10 when 3 or more games are traded in

Those are trade offers. They state that they cannot be combined with other offers. The 10% bonus doesn't count as one, so it always works.

Ended yesterday, $50 extra on 360/PS3/Wii U.

I was too late on that.

ended yesterday, You would've received $75 with a wireless controller and $70 with a wired after promo.

I'd still consider getting that fat model for $40 since they'll have the promotion some time again. (value will plummet after the new consoles come out though, and might even when they're announced-like the 720 tomorrow)

Any word on if the coupons (like $20 Off The Purchase of Any One GameStop Item) at poweruprewards will work on kindle cards or any gift cards for that matter? Site only says not on DLC. Flipped through a few page and didn't see anything.

If I don't stay on top of them it'll get behind. I both love and hate these kind of promos. It's great we get a ton of updated information but I typically get a day or two behind with my current work schedule. Today I took a personal health day so I've been able to keep up so far. It wont last.

The reason he didn't want to do 2 transactions is the employee numbers are based on how many preorders/cards they get/how many transactions they do as a percentage.

I've seen them do 4 different payments for a family on 1 transaction so their numbers don't take a hit.

Of course, but the profit is still major for cash trades. When I worked at Gamestop we loved cash trades for that reason. you could see the major turn around in what we gave out with credit, promo and card versus someone who took cash for a new release or something. There seems to be no actual reason to end cash trades entirely is my point.

As far as gas cards and things, I would imagine those are pretty important in stores who get tons of cash trades daily so they don't have to be turned away to avoid negative funds. This only applied at one store I ever worked at though.

I completely understand the entire circle of life customer idea but that doesn't mean there isn't a lot of great turnaround in cash trades at the bottom line. I'm not saying encourage cash trades but doing away with them seems a bad business decision is all.

Nice, picked up 6 Kindle cards at my Gamestop.

I grabbed 3.
Then joked about probably being back if that xbox announcement does or doesn't deliver.

Does I trade a crapload more or stuff.
Doesn't and I just grab a crapload of giftcards.

My friend, who was working the cashier, only laughed at the comment.
