Hello CAG,

I want to introduce Game & Print Club ( http://www.gameandprintclub.com ).

Game & Print Club puts out fan art prints inspired by videogames. Every release will be a timed, limited editon -- meaning it will be on sale for a limited number of hours / days, never to be reprinted again. But also keep in mind, this is strictly fan art -- and are therefore unofficial and unlicensed. We're all huge Nintendo fans so pretty much the only fan art we'll be putting out will be inspired by Nintendo games.

Each release also has a pre-requisite that must be met before it can be bought as well -- hence the "Club." The pre-requisties differ per release, and they include: Early-adopters pre-requisite, challenge pre-requisites, and sharing pre-requisites.

How Game & Print Club came about is basically on a message board. A bunch of us from EB and NeoGAF, who are all poster collectors, just bought a Wii U and thought "wouldn't it be cool to have some kind of special print for being a Wii U early adopter?" Which lead to print #0, which we made available to whoever wanted one on the boards -- so long as you own a Wii U by December 31, 2012. And plus, we just want to help promote things we love: videogames and art. So we hope to use this to pay tribute to our favorite games and help promote some artists that we love who might not be as well known as well.

Gah, is it supposed to be cheapyD ad approved? I didn't know about that. Will send him a PM to pay for it. Thanks for the heads up.

Edit: Sent cheapyd a private message. Please lock until he approves.

Got the approval from CheapyD via PM. =)
Cool service. I don't use Facebook anyway to grab these first prints??
Thanks, and yeah, I can post the link here when it goes on-sale as well.
Put put out anything decent Super Metroid related and I'll probably be all over it.
=)

Wish I knew about the early adopter print when it went up. I've been trying for a year to get a neogaf account with no luck.

I'll definitely check out the fire emblem print later this month though!

Gah, sorry about that. I wish I had mentioned it here as well -- though at the time it would've had to be in a different forum.
Haha, hi Celsius :p
Whoa! Mark! Hahaha, crazy seeing you outside of EB. Ran into Olly on Neogaf and it was a bit of a shocker too. Haha.

Here is the second print that will be releasing alongside The Girl from the Plains on 3/21/2013.

Just wanted to make it more exclusive than the usual timed-editions.

I was wondering the same thing. Can I just take a picture of zero mission on my 3ds and make that count? (It's the only metroid game I still own. I don't even have Other M anymore.)

I believe when you make your Paypal payment, you must include a photo of the item you're using for verification (Metroid game, 3ds, Wii U) and a piece of paper with the email address attached to the paypal account.

Pretty much this except if you are using a 3ds or wii u to verify i would not require a picture but your Nintendo network id or 3ds friendcode. Once you are verified once I will keep a record so you do not need to verify again. So for those that have pikmin i already verified their Nintendo network id so they do not have to verify for any of these current prints.

And yes you would do it in the PayPal notes area when you check out.
Will you ever be reprinting the Pikmin one?
No, sorry but we cannot. Everything will only be available for a set time period and once the edition is set we will not reprint it. Some stuff we put out, like with The Chozo piece, have variant editions though -- and we will always announce it beforehand.

With that said, we will usually print a few extras to cover any sort of damages that may occur in shipping. With Pikmin there was 37 orders with 2 extras printed to cover damages (making it a total of 39). Once all 37 arrived we had people on the waiting list and I sent out the remaining two to the people who were on the list.

That Legend of Zelda is the first one ice thought about ordering, but the requisites are a bit much. Why can't I just purchase a print?

Would like an answer to this as well. I'm sure most, if not all, of us can do it. It just seems like an unnecessary hurdle to jump through for you to get money.

Hmmm, sorry you feel that way =( But part of the reason why is to keep it a bit more exclusive, despite being a timed edition. And any small hassle that people go to in order to buy a print makes it just a little bit more special -- or so we hope.

This new Zelda one is the first I am interested in as well. I like it, but I don't like it THAT much, and at $17, I could maybe make an impulse purchase. Having to jump through the hoop, however, will probably mean my money stays here.

For some reason, that sounds like your intention. It just sounds like a poor decision, in my opinion. Having only a certain amount printed and available for a certain amount of time is "exclusive" enough, I think. Good luck either way.

Spot on.

all domestic orders will ship today. International have been held to combine shipping with future orders per requested. Thanks again for the orders. Hope you'll like em in person!

So can anyone buy the Zelda pic on the 18th or will you then still require a picture?

I could easily take one but your requirement will get a fuck YOU and not a picture from me and many buyers. As a small upstart you should be reaching out to customers and not making me jump through hoops to be able to do business with you. Seems you are having no problem attracting business: massive 170 likes on Facebook and 1/3 of the posts in this thread are yours...

Obviously this is not a deal and does not belong in the deals thread unless you are paying Cheapy advertising $$$

First off, I'm very sorry you feel that way. Please do not be hostile. =(

Unfortunately, I will still require a picture =( In regards to the requirement(s), they're there really to make it a little more special for the people who do go through the little bit of trouble in order to buy them -- and I don't feel they're very hard, either. For this one I thought when it's all said and done, it'd be fun to see what games people choose for the pictures, which version they choose, and which will end up being their favorite Zelda title. I really do want it to be a little different and mayhaps make the prints feel a bit as a reward incentive.

In regards to whether this is a deal or not: $17 for a limited edition giclee print is actually really, really underpriced -- nearly 50% of the price you'd usually expect -- most especially for the ones using watercolor paper. Part of the reason why it's only $17 as opposed to the expected usual $30 is because of the pre-requites that come with purchasing them.

In regards to the other three prints still being available for purchase -- they are not. Even though the three prints I've released thus far are visible in the store, you'll notice when you click on them they are all listed as sold out and are not available to purchase.

Lastly, yes, cheapyd has approved this post (I've noted it in the OP).

But really, I'm very sorry you feel annoyed with this particular requirement for this print -- it was not my intention at all, really!
The Zelda one reminds me of Tom Whalen's art (http://strongstuff.net/). Looks pretty cool.
Hah, they're actually friends. Tom does a lot of work for Mondo, and Dave has done a few as well. Both Tom and Dave will have a two-man show together at Gallery 1988 later this year in Los angeles. Hoping to get Tom to do a print too.

I think the problem with the latest print is that owning three Zeldas require having multiple consoles. It also rules out anyone who has them digitally.

I get what he's trying to do, but I'd think he'd be better off saying he has X amount of prints and leave it at that.

and I don't feel they're very hard, either.

The only Nintendo console I own is a Wii, which means I max out at two. You are basically limiting it to those who own multiple consoles.

I want to give and even bigger fuck YOU to $hady for being an ass about this whole thing.

Don't think it's a deal and not buying it? Move on!

Digital is not a problem! If you have them digitally and you can put them on one screen, I would accept it as well. Digital + non-digital is fine too. I.E. two Virtual Console versions on the tv/3DS and 1 cartridge/disk.

You mean Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess, I take it? The virtual console versions are fine too =) (See sentence above.)

Just a small comment that does not necessitate a reply, I saw this thread before the initial print 0 was available (when preorders were possible) but chose not to do so at the time despite liking the project and print. However, I would have been more likely to jump in had I known that purchase of that print made someone a "Charter Member" and allowed access to other prints that they might not have been able to meet the requirements for. Maybe I missed it, but I don't think that was clearly posted (on CAG) and am feeling a bit annoyed (at who, I dunno).

However, I would have been more likely to jump in had I known that purchase of that print made someone a "Charter Member" and allowed access to other prints that they might not have been able to meet the requirements for. Maybe I missed it, but I don't think that was clearly posted (on CAG) and am feeling a bit annoyed (at who, I dunno).
ah, that does not apply anymore. at first it was going to be a wii-u owners club -- which is what it started out as -- so yeah, when it was going to be just some prints for Wii-U owners -- once you have #0 you no longer had to provide proof anymore -- since I have it recorded down. But this has changed.

But for the upcoming Encounters in Hyrule print, everyone, even those who own print #0 has to provide a photo.

Basically, going forward once you've provided proof once you don't have to do it again. So if for #1 you gave me your 3DS friendcode, and print #10 requires a 3ds you won't need to provide it again because I have it noted that you've given me your friend code already, so long as you order from the same paypal address/email.

I hope that helps.

We're doing a print for 3DS ambassador owners also. Not sure how many there are. Would be interesting, I think. It would basically be evidence you can hang on your wall that you overpaid for a 3ds =)

and I do apologize for not posting about #0 on cheapassgamer. I didn't know if it was allowed but once I saw the t-shirt thread I thought it might be ok -- which didn't happen till post #0's release.
Im curious can I still get the wiiu print and stuff?
If you mean #0, #1, and #2 then no, unfortunately. The edition sizes for those have already been locked and I can never reprint them.

#2, though (The Metroid inspired one) has a variant edition coming out in May.

I am looking towards the zelda one now, but might as well take pics for my 3ds ambassador, wiiu launch and stuff lol. Idk why I never saw this till today. BUMMED!

I like the Zelda print - I think it would look great in my son's room. Jumping through the hoops is a little bit annoying but if that's how you want to run your business then so be it. Do you have to be on Facebook to order? If so I'm out because I'm not joining that site ever.

No, you most definitely do not have to be on Facebook.

Whenever a print is on-sale it can be purchased here: http://gameandprintclub.bigcartel.com/

additionally, you can sign up for the newsletter here, if it helps: http://eepurl.com/uRZJf

For the newsletter we'll send release information on new prints with a link to the purchase site, as well as another newsletter on the day of the sale to let you know the prints are now on-sale.

and I'm very happy to hear you like the print. I hope your son will enjoy it as well. Sorry for the small annoyance.

awesome! and thanks!

Most people see silly requirements to purchase and move along. I am pointing out they are out of touch with customers and admittingly half requiring pics for his own giggles.

Don't worry I won't be adding anymore views to your paid advertisement thread.
Sorry for the small annoyance.
I think it is because everyone loves the idea of your site and we are all lazy.

I don't get the bitching. It's "Game & Print Club" - the small barrier to entry makes it more fun and a little more exclusive. I'd rather do that than refresh a page all day, a la Mondo.

the zelda print is really nice, but the requirement for it is a bit more demanding than the last art prints. i ordered the metroid one and all i needed to do was share my wii u id.

ill buy the zelda one depending on how much extra cash i have left and how nice the metroid art print turns out to be. oh and it also depends on how lazy i am to search for another zelda art print

It's game and print. Not game print. The name implies it: play a game, get a print.

I know this sounds picky, but I wasn't a fan of the Lyn portrait (the face looked odd to me, probably because it was drawn in a different style than the style the games use - that, and I think Lyn's horribly overrated), but I hope more Fire Emblem ones show up eventually (if this keeps going for that long).

Random post, don't mind me. Feel free to keep the angry stuff up.

I will never understand artists who put needless barriers/restrictions on buying their work.

If you're creating to make money, great. If you're creating for the sake of creating, more power to you. If you have to make a limited print run due to limited finances/resources, I feel your pain. But if you purposely limit the audience/supply of your work just so it's more "exclusive", then you are an elitist douche, no matter how noble your intentions are.
