Also, IX wasn't as good as the others, unless you like cookie-cutter, super-deformed characters, random story interjections, and frogs. :P

But I've found that Final Fantasy games are like losing your virginity. Your first might not be the best, but it keeps a special place in your heart. Unless you were forced to play it, in which case I'm sorry you were molested, kupo.

Opinions of FF games are numerous and varied. Back in the day, I kept hearing how disappointing VIII was in comparison to VII, yet the game has its fans. There are a lot of people who like X, but I find it overrated.

To be honest, I knew nothing about IX until recently, and that game definitely has fans. I've been playing it on my PSP, and personally I like it, but it doesn't stand out like some of the other games.

VIII was my first. Then I joined a monastery and never played FF again (my couple weeks of FFXI years and years ago don't count!)

Three winters ago Recettear was in a bundle of 5 games for $5.

It's still worth it at 66%, though.

Really cool game.

I can't even remember what other games were in that bundle. I've probably played a few others in there, but Recettear was definitely the highlight of that bundle.

I'll agree, Recettear is still an amazing deal at 66% off.

It was the Indie Story Pack, and the other games were Gish, And Yet It Moves, Puzzle Agent, and Jolly Rover.

(I looked that up)

Yeah, I had to look it up since it isn't in my Steam purchase history.

A good pack, actually. Puzzle Agent and Jolly Rover are damn good games. I actually do like AYIM, despite some of the hate. Gish was the only game I couldn't get into.

I actually remember this because I skipped buying it since I had all the other games in the pack, and thinking "eh, it'll be a couple of bucks by itself soon", which never ended up happening - the cheapest I've seen it is around $5 - $6. But I'm patient (and backlogged)...

Hydrophobia feels like it was cobbled together from bits left on the cutting room floor of many PS2 B tier games. If they had called it Headhunter 3 It would have fit perfectly. Only no Richard Jacques music.

It's alright but never gets good.

A Valley Without Wind is about the only game I see in this sale that isn't a known quantity. I'll make it known now: it sucked in its first iteration and still isn't nearly as interesting as it sounds in the sequel.

What the hell is going on with Steam? Whether on my phone, web browser or the client, whether on 3G, my wi-fi or another wi-fi, it is lagging and making it impossible for me to make my purchases.

A few online news outlets and various other places are calling their "Indie Spring" sale the "Spring Sale", which is probably enough to bring their servers to a grinding halt. It's been going on since about 10am this morning.

If you want to try it out, there are multiple CAGers selling keys (it's been in a couple of bundles) for less than a buck in the Steam trading thread:

http://www.cheapassg...279563&page=362

Whether you'll end up "getting it" is a different question - but then again, for a buck, who cares...

It's grand strategy, which means a high barrier of entry.

Don't expect it to go out of its way to make things easy or understandable for you or expect it to click after only a couple of hours.

But if you've got the patience, as Seamoss said it's selling for ~.75 in the trade thread.

I don't know if I have an answer to your question, but...

I made it work shortly after Origin launched, but...

If your Steam copy of Mass Effect...

Spoiler

It does have a serial. The only thing is...

Spoiler

I believe the site to register pre-2008 games...

Spoiler

I used Pinnacle Station on my last run through...

Spoiler

My preference is to use Steam if I can, but I don't have any irrational fear of using Origin. So I would have considered that an acceptable fallback position if it had come to that. But if Tigershard & Rirse's posts are correct, it sounds like I wont have to go that route.

So I'll buy it, try it out, and if I can't get it to work, I'll just bug some CS Rep on Origin until they let me register my steam copy of Mass Effect over there.

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Jolly Rover is a lot of fun.

It wants very badly to be a Monkey Island game with dogs, which it doesn't quite achieve.

But it's light and likable and not too difficult, and if you like Point-and-Clicks it's easy to recommend.

Oh, it was terrific! A love-letter to fans of the Nintendo and Super-Nintendo Final Fantasy games. Yes, it was all about reusing elements from them, but it did a terrific job.

But I've found that Final Fantasy games are like losing your virginity. Your first might not be the best, but it keeps a special place in your heart.

My first Final Fantasy game was Final Fantasy. There was no number, because there was only one at time. Sometimes this forum makes me feel really old.

I got the strategy guide from my Nintendo Power subscription. I think I must have read that guide cover to cover dozens of times before I saved up enough money to buy the game. I was so psyched when I finally bought it, and it totally lived up to my expectations.
