Power Rangers: Seasons 4 - 7

Thanks Kai. I wish I bought PR Seasons 1-3 when it hit a low point. Now I regret it.

But I'll probably waiting for the eventual price drop.

Got this from when it was TimeLife-exclusive. Nice set.

BTW, anyone waiting on MMPR is better off getting the box set. Shout Factory is splitting up Season 3 and putting the Alien Rangers arc as its own release.

I just wish SF would speed up the releases a bit so we can get to Lightspeed Rescue-RPM.

yeah, mmpr was worth it. the later instances...not so much. i'd get it for half that price about.

The only bad season in this set is Turbo (though Zeo had a ton of wasted potential) and even that got better in the second half of the season.

I wish I knew that ahead of time...I've been buying the volumes piece by piece at Target.

Wait, what? I'm kinda confused by your wording. What exactly are they splitting up? Are they removing anything from these box sets?

I think he meant SF is splitting Season 3 in Volume 1 and 2, all the while omitting Alien Rangers from Season 3. As such, they will be releasing the Alien Ranger Mini Arc as its own DVD. Catch my drift?

So far the volume releases have been identical to the volumes that the box set includes so I don't see why they would change anything. The box set has season 3 as its own volume as well and not split into two volumes like seasons 1 and 2. There were 5 volumes with one if the original 5 rangers on the side.

Thanks for the correction and I know. I was just attempting to discern and explain what the other guy was saying.

The boxset release for Season 3 was 5 discs in 1 case: 4 were under the MMPR banner while the last was under the "Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers" banner.

Shout Factory is releasing the 4 MMPR discs as "Season 3" while putting the Alien Rangers disc as a separate release when they release it to store shelves.

I have been doing these separate due to budget issues. I will be stopping after Alien Rangers...have not followed the series since then so I shouldn't be missing much..or am I?

Well, Alien Rangers directly leads into Zeo, which is an awesome season. In Space is considered one of the best seasons of the show. Lost Galaxy is the final season with any connection to the Zordon era and had a ton of production problems but still turned out awesome.

Great...way to sell me. I guess I will continue this on...

Just don't get distraught by Turbo. 75% of the episodes are horrible and the replacements for Zordon and Alpha can be pain-inducing at times.

After Lost Galaxy, the seasons are pretty much stand-alone. Lightspeed Rescue was initially heavily disliked, but Linkara's History of Power Rangers video gave the series new fans. Time Force was one of the darkest and most mature seasons (relatively, it's still a kid's show). Wild Force and Ninja Storm are very, very campy. DinoThunder had its problems, but the strength of the cast (including bringing back Tommy) on top of a very good villain makes up for it. SPD had a lot of wasted potential thanks to a new director and Disney's meddling. Mystic Force eventually devolved into The Nick Show. Operation Overdrive was pretty bleh, except for the 15th Anniversary crossover. Jungle Fury was pretty good, but lacked spark. RPM was Turbo Done Right.

Agreed. I loved alpha...zordon didn't bother me as much. i still say nothing will top the original mmpr. the rest had their pros and cons--comparing it to the original seasons imo. I'd love to see them redo this...but in an adult form. has alot of potential rebooting it and turning it into an older audience based show. anyone see the fan artwork of the red ranger...but in total badass form?!

Zeo was great. Turbo was not good (although I hear it got better at the end. Still haven't watched it). In Space is my favorite season by far. Lost Galaxy was good from what I remember.

I haven't really watched anything else except RPM (which, as was noted, was Turbo done right). Fantastic season.

Imma just go ahead and say, but Zeo was my favorite. I didn't particularly enjoy Lightspeed Rescue but after Linkara talked about it, I eventually saw it in a better light, especially after he talked about their instant use of Guns.

And if you guys really like Power Rangers, I recommend you guys watch Linkara's History of Power Rangers. In depth analysis and information, and pretty entertaining to boot.
EDIT: Linkara finally posted a new video after a year. Mystic Force!

Semi-related, I just spent the weekend as guest escort to Richard Horvitz, voice actor of Alpha-5 (and Zim), at a local convention. Amazing guy, had a blast discussing the voice acting profession with him. And apparently I remind him of a young Tom Kenny? I'll take that as a compliment!
