Sega Genesis and bunch of games worth selling?

CAGiversary!
Hey, all:

Helped my brother move and we found his old Sega Genesis, replete with about 10 or so games.

I thought about putting it on Craigslist or Ebay for him, but it is it worth the effort? Is there an actual market for this stuff?

This assumes it's all working, of course. Pretty sure it is, but will check over the weekend.

TIA for any help.

You're not going to get all that much, unless some of the games are rare/desireable. Also, it will help if they are in their original cases. Do a quick eBay search on the games, and you'll get an idea of what kind of prices to expect.

Genesis hardware goes for between $30 - $60, depending on the model, and the condition. If it is in good condition and you still have the original box in good condition, it could go for closer to $100, maybe around $150, but probably not anymore than that.

The Genesis was a fairly common system, and the construction was fairly durable, so most of the original models have survived in playable condition. The games are also notorious for being durable, especially the cases. It's far more rare to find SNES cases than Genesis. This is good for finding the games and systems, but not for selling them.

There were three different models of the Genesis. (not counting non-Sega releases) The model 3 is the rarest, the rarity between the model 1 and model 2 are fairly evenly split.

The console is it's original box and the cartridges have all of their cases, so I've got that going for me.

I will post some pictures and link to them here later this weekend. While it's not winning the lottery, sounds like this lot may be worth a little more than I thought.

Thanks again for the help.

With the overall shipping weight and fees, I would just put it CL. I would price it a bit higher than you are willing to part with it to give some haggle room, but it will be easier than selling it on eBay. It's not as hot as SNES, but there are still people out there looking for it.
