For Muslims, this is really business as usual for many.

And this is why I haven't shed a tear or sweated the current situation.

We for a long time were ok with one group being monitored but when suddenly everyone gets equal monitoring, then we have a problem.

It's just like with the Tea Party IRS issue - the issue wasn't the IRS investigating Tea Party groups, the issue is the IRS not enforcing the 501C3 rules which say no political activity.

As far as Obama being able to clean up the mess, there is a large lack of knowledge in how government works in the populace as quoted straight from Truman Library:

http://www.trumanlib...branches/17.htm

A PRESIDENT
CAN........................................................
  • make treaties with the approval of the Senate.
  • veto bills and sign bills.
  • represent our nation in talks with foreign countries.
  • enforce the laws that Congress passes.
  • act as Commander-in-Chief during a war.
  • call out troops to protect our nation against an attack.
  • make suggestions about things that should be new laws.
  • lead his political party.
  • entertain foreign guests.
  • recognize foreign countries.
  • grant pardons.
  • nominate Cabinet members and Supreme Court Justices and other high officials.
  • appoint ambassadors.
  • talk directly to the people about problems.
  • represent the best interest of all the people
 PRESIDENT
CANNOT..................................
  • make laws.
  • declare war.
  • decide how federal money will be spent.
  • interpret laws.
  • choose Cabinet members or Supreme Court Justices without Senate approval.

Well remember, this is the country where a relatively large number of people think the world is 6,000 years old and that Obama is a Kenyan Muslim Marxist who's going to kick in their doors, grab their guns, and send the elderly to death with Rom... I mean, Obamacare.

When you say "race card!!!," I hear someone(almost always a white person) wanting to be able to discriminate against someone else(almost always not white or not perceived as white) because of their race.

At some point, you racists are going to have to learn that no one gives a shit if you keep your racist thoughts to yourselves just like how no one cares(or would know) if pedos kept those thoughts to themselves. It's when pedos start talking about diddling kids ie wanting to discriminate against someone else because of their race(see above definitions of someone/someone else), when us "libs" have a problem. You can talk about wanting or allowing people to be racist all you want, but don't expect that to fly while only supporting free speech in one direction; it's a two way street.

The thing is, a large portion of the Republican party actually is racist or at least doesn't mind using race-bating to win elections. If they weren't you wouldn't see the kind of content that is on Fox News every day or Mitt Romney being BFFs with Donald Trump.

ITT: "lolz, both sides do it."

You can't veto what was already passed.

I'm still an Obama supporter, I just know what he can and can't do which seems to be a shock to a lot of people.

Ummm...

http://www.huffingto...n_n_867851.html

Minutes before a midnight deadline, President Barack Obama signed into law a four-year extension of post-Sept. 11 powers to search records and conduct roving wiretaps in pursuit of terrorists.

Exactly how could he not had veto'd this?  A few more minutes and it would have been pocket veto'd.

Both sides do it.

Yes, its nice to see Americans experience what they have sanctioned against minority groups and activists (sadly, also a minority to the passive majority).

It is a fact that racism is rampant in the Republican party. I suppose you think that birther conspiracies have nothing to do with racism then? That Herman Cain wasn't beloved by many conservatives because he made campaign videos and speeches that appealed to their prejudices? You can't name a 2012 Republican presidential candidate who didn't say racist things to win votes. ALL of them were guilty.

Yeah, goddamn Patriot Act.  It's funny how people keep acting like Obama and his administration are worse than Bush and as bad as Hitler, even though it is just "meet the new boss, same as the old boss."

Seriously, people need to read through the Patriot Act.  It's a must read.  You have no idea what kinds of crazy shit it did.

I never said Obama is to blame for everything. As a matter of fact this country has been going downhill since Lincoln, who used force against the states who had a natural right to secede (IMO). The reason why I am so angry at Obama is because he completely let me down along with many other people who believed him. Trust me, I share no love for many of the "conservative" presidents. This is one of the reasons why I supported Ron Paul who was actually consistent. You might disagree with him on everything but at least you know he is honest and where he is coming from.

LOLZ@you not "understanding" my "post." A "real" "discussion" can't be "had" when met with "projection"(yours) and "satire"(mine).

But seriously, a real discussion would've been you making critical statements about the data-mining instead of wanking off about thought-crimes and liberals. At least take some responsibility for your comments. The only one race-baiting here is you.

Disingenuous? Other people in this thread (not you) were talking about race.

Explain the relevance of the party affiliation of KKK members from 49+ years ago to the modern iteration of the two main political parties. After you do that, explain which of the two parties more closely represents the ideology of the KKK today. Then, if you can get through a couple of sentences without veering off into insults and goalpost-shifting, tie it all back to see if your critique of the Democratic Party from 50+ years ago is fair to apply to the modern-day Democratic Party. I'll even give you bonus points for addressing the Southern Strategy(I know you won't though).

tl;dr(cause I know you didn't): How is your point about the membership of the Democratic Party from 50+ years ago not disingenuous when you're heavily implying that they're the exact same way today?

Go back to page one. Perhaps you need to get some of that "reading comprehension"? You reacted without thinking. Must be a HUGE chip on your shoulder. Typical liberal behavior though. Be proud.

I'm addressing YOUR points; not someone else's. All you've done in this thread is make insults and use "liberal" as a pejorative descriptor. Maybe you should read your own goddamn posts before slinging around insults and making strawman arguments.

And in case my initial couple posts were going over your head(although it seems like all of them are and I bet this one will too despite spelling everything out), I was satirizing your posts until you decided to jump off the deep end with you comment about the Democratic Party from 50 years ago.

You're probably just trolling this thread anyways, so I'm out unless you provide anything of substance.

Well the white conservatives are up in arms NOT really because of the spying but because a BLACK president have the audacity to now target the status quo..

It was quite ok with the white status quo when minorities were rounded up, they were stop and frisked, asked for id, prove citizenships, and spied on.   Funny how the white media are now all over Obama, where was the white media when people were indefinitely detained, muslims was being raided by FBI while they slept, innocent people was being framed...

I may not condone or justify the actions of terrorists, but in their regards that everyone is fair game because of the gov't they support, I can find it not hard to understand.   Many people here have shown their own self-interest over the rights of others, what don't affect them don't matter to them.  Racists who can't see their own reflections to libertarians who say they aren't republican but hold the republican value of race hating.  The only difference btw a republican and a so-called libertarian is that a libertarian have respect for women then the republicans do.

Here is the thing that make RAND Paul a joke and nothing like his dad.....

He goes around blaming everything on Obama

When if you looked at it from a strategic kind of way, Obama only choices was to either scrap the whole spying program and be called a terrorist supporting America weakening Muslim POTUS or expand the spying program for use on the same white status quo that so supported it when it was never used on them.

So in a way he may actually have help paved the way to possibly scrapping the whole spying program since the white status quo now know how it feels to be the minority.  But for all the people who continue to say racism is dead in america, get out of your rock, the fact remains the same the white status quo will always look to target the minority and ignore the rights of those that are not in their "circle".

Maybe the best way to show people the light is when the light needs to be shined on them.   But until the day conservatism/narrow mindedness dies, I hold no hope and we will continue to repeat history just with different faces to be the NEW enemy/flavor of the day

And there is NO WAY IN HE** will Obama ever go on tv on the record to say he would scrap the spying program because it was really meant to target a single group of minorities.   Especially a president of minority background, against a white status quo that is even more powerful then he is

If you can't identify the racism in their statements, you clearly don't know the meaning of the word.

I think your just blind with hatred for republicans to see the truth. I am going to go ahead and defend two people on the list.

1. Ron Paul

He never argued that this a moral evil and a violation of white people' liberty. He argued that the bill destroyed the private property rights and civil liberty. See the bill gave the government incredible power over the hiring and employee relations which led to violations of private property rights. In order to make sure that the establishment is not racist they would be required to hire based on racial quotas. Forced integration only increases racial tension. America has improved when it comes to racism due to changes in public attitudes and private efforts, not because of the Civil Rights Act.

Also Ron Paul was endorsed by many blacks including Tavis Smiley and Cornel West. Here is also a video I just found of random African Americans supporting Ron Paul.

2. Rick Santorum

Before I start defending his comment, I am gonna go ahead and tell you that I hate Rick with passion. He is my most hated candidate of 2012.

The crappy blog is so anti republican that it starts skewing things to make these people look like the biggest racists in the country. Rick Santorum never called any black people parasites nor did he every imply that. The blog of course does not even list the full quote which is "I don't want to make black people's lives better by giving them somebody else's money; I want to give them opportunity to go out and earn money." With a full quote it presents an entirely different image of Rick. As someone once said "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." I do not see a problem with that at all.

There we go, I just refuted two claims and I bet the rest of them are crap either. Keep in mind that I disliked everyone but Ron Paul on that list and would not want to seem to become a president for many different reasons but racism is not of them. If your going to call them out on something than make sure it is something legitimate.

I find Rand Paul far from being a joke. Unlike his father, he is quickly becoming one of the most popular republicans in years. While I do not like the fact that he is blaming many things on Obama but that is the way politics work, he is working within the system. His father only told the truth and look where it got him, both parties went against him and he had no chance of winning the primaries.

I also disagree with your statement about those two choices. He could have completely shut the system down considering that would the right thing to do. Instead he keeps trying to justify it.

strategic wise those are the only 2 choices,  fight against that white privilage status quo and get personally assassinated or use the status quo against itself

So you applaud Obama for being politically smooth but call out Rand Paul for doing the same thing?

Its his second and last term, if he shut the system down then I am sure he would gain more followers than ever. Obama beat McCain who was supposed to continue Bush's policies and attacks on civil liberties. Obama won because majority believed he would make the government more transparent and give the people a fighting chance against the political overlords.

The interview Edward Snowden gave to the Guardian in Hong Kong.

He does give a very compelling case on why he did what he did, and does explain of what has happened to our military.

I do not applude such a plan, because he still deserve to be strip of his Peace medal ( a man who authorize assassination is not a man of peace )

I was merely pointing out that if I was to scrap a program that targeted a few who nobody really cared about WHEN I AM ALSO considered a minority myself, I would have to think stradegy if I was to scrap such a program.  Its merely turning the system on itself, sometimes people need to taste their own medicine before they understand.  Right and Wrong don't matter when people themselves have no care for others except themself, so in order to make the change you need everyone on board.
