Atlantis Complete Series on blu for $55? I'm in. Just wish they'd fix up some SG-1 on blu.

Looking at the cases for Atlantis on Blu from a user supplied photo I don't see how. The DVD set seems to have issue though. The newest reviews of the SG-1 box don't seem to report the problem of scratches as often it seems but enough to be wary it seems.

Here is the picture of the Atlanits blu packaging

I've got a fry's locally, I'm tempted to see if they will price match on the SG-1 set. Maybe not going through a single item shipment the discs would survive better.

Stargate SG-1 Seasons 1-6 or 1-7 was produced like most shows of it's time. It was shot on film, moved to video tape and then all final editing and post production was done on tape. It would take a restoration project like they are doing for Star Trek TNG to release it poperly on Blu-ray. To top it off SG-1used a fair amount of CGI, this would have to be remade also. So it will probably never happen, although I wouldn't be surprised to see Season 7-10 or 8-10 or whatever it is make it eventually.

That being said, thanks for the deal I ordered Atlantis on Blu-ray.

Well my local Fry's was wanting to charge me $8 on top of the matched price for shipping. I had a feeling they might. Not worth it. I'll stick with Atlantis on blu for now.

Yeah the new edit for the SG-1 pilot that came out on DVD a few years back was an experiment to see how well fixing things up for HD would do. The sad thing is that most people ignored that release since people weren't happy with some of the changes done to the pilot (aka the adult content removed). That's a bummer since the new stuff added along with the fixes did help things out greatly in my opinion.

... but they really should have released it on Blu to really test the market for SG-1 on Blu outside of the few specials they did after the show ended.

That extreme bit of adult content always seemed so out of place in the middle of that pilot, so I was thankful for the recut so it can be shown to younger viewers.

I remember seeing the Pilot on SciFi at like 3 or 4 in the afternoon one day, during a marathon or something and they had that scene fully intact, uncut. I didn't even think anything of it until a few hours later I was like.....wait a minute, SciFi just showed nudity in the middle of the afternoon. What the hell?!

Damn!  I missed out on this deal!  I'd buy Atalntis for that price.  I have 1-4 of SG-1 on DVD and waiting until Thanksgiving to get the rest.

I like how people have a problem with boobs which ever human being on the planet have see, but no issues with the shooting of guns.

I never had a problem either way, it'd be easy to frame the shot to remove it. It'd be different if the nudity had some story value and was necessary but you can get the same effect story wise without it. People complaining when they removed it makes no sense though as it wasn't a huge portion of that episode.

To me the nudity on the pilot felt out of place and forced. Especially for what's supposed to be an TV-PG level show. Not to mention some of the really bad dialog that thankfully the new cut removed (Carter's infamous reproductive organs comes to mind). The tighter editing/pacing, better dialog, the new redubbed dialog for Teal'c so his voice is consistant... yep The Final Cut is much better. Hopefully if season 1 ever gets redone for HD then we'll get a version of the pilot that has Kawalsky getting the Goa'uld in him at the end so things will flow better into the follow up episode.

My point is that boobs are PG rated, they are fucking boobs.  I don't understand America's love for guns and violence but hatred for boobs and women.

I don't have a problem with boobs but the use of nudity on the pilot felt forced and unneeded. Especially since it wasn't intended to be there in the first place by the show runners and only there due to Showtime forcing it to be there.
