Heard this on the news today and I am indeed surprised. The Church of England has declared that it would start a credit union and would support many others by lending their spaces to such companies. Its Archbishop met with one of the biggest payday lenders recently and declared war on them by "competing them out of business." Who is a church to say that they can hurt an industry that is quoted as doing God's Work, which includes price fixing the cost of commodities?
