Need help finding a 3DS XL

DigitalOp

CAGiversary!
Sup CAG,

Im in the market for a 3DS XL in order to get ready for PKMN X&Y, But I can't seem to find one to fit my needs.

I have no problem grabbing one from second market but it seems I can't find a good deal. Ebay auctions rise too high for a secondhand system. Retail doesn't have good deals outright, and my craigslist currently has no offers at this moment...

Anybody know where I can find a system from an alternative source?? Has anyone had luck with cowboom?

Thanks

Cowboom is an excellent place to get one from. I got one for under $120 back in Feb. Didn't come with AR cards, but otherwise it was In flawless condition despite it being labeled a "Grade 4."

I know this goes against, for the most part what CAG stands for,  I would suggest just going with the Pokemon X/Y 3DS XL bundles at launch. Seems like a lot of hassle looking for the cheapest second hand 3DS XL.

It's really not with Cowboom. If you read through the Cowboom thread, almost every person has had a positive experience.

I'm thinking that there should be another 3DS XL promo soon.  Right now there aren't any good deals really.

meijers is running a deal right now if you buy the pokemon x or y 3ds XL u get a copy of paper mario sticker star for free.

AWD apparently had some today for $135 and I ordered one for $145 after the 10% off code from Retail Me Not if you want to head over to the AWD thread. They had a massive restock today and they went fairly quick but people post them when they go up pretty regularly.

I was a day short on those deals.  Dang...but at least I think I've figured out how to keep checking.  I did pick up some games that I wanted for the 3DS cheap.  Now I just need to get the 3DS XL to play them.

Same boat as the OP, waiting another week for a deal, then going ahead with it. Doubt there will be any deals sadly with pokemon being a sure fire seller.

Yeah prices tend to stagnate when there is a hot game coming out, they know people will buy it with the game and Pokemon can sell systems so why offer a deal when people will buy it no matter what. You are better off buying a month or 2 in advance in this case if you see a deal or even further ahead if it's something like a Pokemon game that they won't deviate on the release date and you don't have the system and you have to have the game. As soon as Pokemon was announced I grabbed the first deal on a 3DS I saw which was the $99 3DS at Sears.

Your best bet might be the Pokemon XL at this point.

I wouldn't even bother with used OP, I was considering Cowboom originally, but with the hinge issues and screen problems I just went new at Best Buy for $170.  Only other great deal you'll find is to wait till BF and get a bundle for about that same price next month.

My cheap ass used one from AWD turned out to be a dud so I just went to Best Buy and bought a brand new one. I dunno. I'm okay with paying full price for it. I've had it about twenty-four hours now and already love it.

That story got me to re-think buying one from AWD. I guess I'm waiting for Black Friday as I don't see any decent sales yet. But we've picked some 3DS games that had a good sale.

So far I've not see any good deals.  The $175 at Target or Fry's is equal to the Quill or Overstock deals after coupons & ebates.  Plus I save gas with Quill or Overstock.  Cowboom is $175 for a Grade 5 and it's missing some parts.  If you just need the console and not the adapter, etc. then the $159 - Cowboom10 is not a bad deal, but I need the adapter.  Amazon Warehouse ended up being the same price after tax too for a decent used.

So it looks like I'm going to opt for Overstock.  It's $199 with free shipping & no tax.  Then with ebates you get another $10 back.  So that's $189 for a new 3DS xl shipped to my door.  Not a great deal but I don't see anything better.  I don't want a scratched screen so those $134 Cowboom XLs are out and the others bring the price up too much.

Anything better?

To be fair most people have great luck with consoles on AWD. I just seem to generally have bad luck, lol.

Maybe the prices have gone up? AWD sells the good condition 3DS XL for about $175 when they show up at all, plus tax for me in CA kills that. When you factor the cost of adapter, SD card, etc. then the $159 isn't a good deal. For example, the one 3DS XL on Cowboom now is the pink XL for $179. I can get a new one for $10 more with everything. And when you factor in tax it's all about even. I have been looking a couple months but maybe I'm just missing them.

Either BF or after the holidays is probably best time. Too late for me as my kid is getting closer to having saved enough allowance to get hers. And I'll need one too. :)

What coupons are you using at Overstock? Everything I've found (10% off or $10 off an order) all exclude electronics.

Sign in to Ebates and you'll get an extra 5% off. It's nothing to brag about, but Overstock also is free shipping and no tax. When you factor in tax, that's a better deal for a new XL than Fry's.
