Just out of curiosity, what exactly is the purpose of this product? do you happen to have 3 friends over and in a 1/1000 chance all 4 controllers run out of juice at the very same time?

Well I want it because I have a Skylanders portal and wireless keyboard plugged in at all times. There's not many other things I want to plug in but I don't like unplugging those tiny adapters and leaving them laying around when I do. Unfortunately the stores that have them still are on the other side of town.

Still useful if you are constantly plugging things in to keep wear off the ps3
 
Just opened it. Basically, you will have a total of 5 USB ports using this if you have 2 USB ports, now. Also, it comes with 3 charging cables. 1 of them you'll need to plug into the back of the hub. 

One could always get a longer, Official PS3 USB cable if you want the hub in a different spot from where your PS3 is. I think my longest one is 10'.

I bought a 10 foot charging cable, and I never even unplug it from the system. I figure that I'm less than 10 feet from my console so why plug and unplug when I can just use it as a wired controller

There are plenty of logical reasons...

1) Dedicated DS3 charger

2) Headset cord (I use it as a hub)

3) External HDD

etc

It's simply a connivence item at a price that is hardly unreasonable.

Yes. You have to have both USB and power connected to work, which was disappointing when I got it. I just plugged USB to PC and uses it as charger most of time (and hub for PC)

It is a cute device, but a little bulky for what it does.

 
Another very frustrating thing about this hub-

Even though controllers won't charge with the ps3 off, if you plug in the move camera, THAT will stay on all the time, with the very bright blue light always on. It would make sense, and even be useful, if the camera turned off with the system but it does not.

 
The hub is smaller than I expected. Nice size. Interesting that my controller light kept flashing with my PS3 turned off and the hub USB unplugged from my PS3. 

Either way, it's going to be nice not having to plug/unplug every 5 seconds. $5 well spent, even if my PS3 has to be on for them to charge.

Yes it does work with the computer. I bought one a few weeks ago and tested it with my PC. It's a little convenient device for the PS3 slim having only 2 usb ports.

Pretty much this. For 4 dollars it is a steal plus it will be compatible with PS4. I currently have
1) Headset
2+ 3)charge cables (controller/headset)

4) External HD

5) keyboard

 
I bought one yesterday, and there were 4 or 5 of them on the shelf. Does anyone with some knowledge about charging know if it can charge a phone safely? It says the phone is charging, but I'm not sure if it might damage the battery or if it isn't strong enough to actually charge well.

 
I have the PS3 Fusion controller (bought a complete used one for around that price someone traded into GS) and its legit for anyone wanting a 360 style controller for PS3.

Edit: Yeah I see now you have to select an individual store's clearance to see the clearance price and if they have it.

That price was showing up for me too, but I browsed through the clearance section on the website and it showed up as $15.99.

 
If anyone is looking for the controller & it is not available in your local area, you could always ask to see if they can order one for you.  I brought a print of the clearance page for the Fusion controller (the closest store was 50 miles away) & they ordered the controller for me right then and there, with shipping to my home residence for the $15.99 clearance price.

 
If anyone touches that sharpshooter controller at my store tomorrow I will break all your fingers, been looking for one at a good price for days now.

There are things that would be interesting to see how they work with move (like The Unfinished Swan, LBP2) but I don't think I want to spend that much to see if they make a couple titles any better, play lightgun games and hope that the PS4 actually has games that justify it's use while also needing to buy another $100 camera.

 
I think I'll pick up the 360 wireless racing wheel today, have the official one with force feedback and pedals but it's kind of a pain to move it in and out of storage, also have $10 in RZ certs.
 
Kinda tempted by that fusion controller AND the move stuff.  Of course, I only have one game that's two-player.

Picked up a Fus1on PS3 controller for $16. It is a very nice controller for the price. In the Pittsburgh, PA area there were three more at the South Hills Best Buy yesterday evening for any other Pgh. area CAGs looking for one.

Camera is $60. I too wonder if I should buy more move controllers. It's supposed to be supported by PS4 but to what extent? Until Move 2.0? I also wonder if my children will want to play with me in the future

 
Thanks for this, a few PS3 items (Move charging station, second nav controller, are worth those prices to me) and the Vita Starte kit with case, memory card, ear phones and such as well.  Hopefully I can get to the store and pick them up sometime soon since I just got a $10 reward zone coupon too.

 
I cleared out the two Best Buys near me of their Move controllers and some of the accessories for them. In total I snagged three Move controllers, three essentials packs, six navigation controllers, a pair of the pistol holders, a sharpshooter, and a couple of extra charging cradles.

 
All this stuff is usually gone at the Best Buys near me so probably won't even bother. I'm not even sure I'd actually use the move controller anyway.
