eBay Buy.com deal of the day: PS3 500GB + GTA V bundle - $229

What do you guys think I should do? My PS3 died on me and I need a new one but was willing to wait until Black Friday/the holidays to get one on a good deal. I already have GTA V so I can sell that. I don't use my PS3 to game, I use it for the PSN games I have and as my primary Blu-Ray player. Obviously in my case the big HD isn't needed but the only other option right now is a 12GB one for $200. This just costs 30 more but comes with a game and significantly bigger HD. What say you guys, buy this, sell what I don't need or wait until BF/holiday time if you feel something more economical will be on sale for me?

If I find out that formatting the HDD doesn't help I might need to get a new PS3. I'm surprise my original ps3 hold up for so long.... almost 7 years..

I was thinking of going this way as well. Sell the copy of gtav and my console with will def lower than 200

I couldn't really say no to this deal, it was just too good. My PS3 just stopped reading discs and I don't own GTA 5. This makes it win win on both accords. Damn I really was trying not to buy a new PS3 but this was just too tempting.

I bit. My ps3 is only 60gb and it's full. I have zero interest in gta 5 but I figure I could sell it and my old ps3 for 150 and that would make this new one only 79 for me.

Damn, tempted to sell off my old PS3 and grab this. Great deal.

Edit: blah plus tax in my state. NOPE.

Yea, I debated on this one for almost 45 minutes, but ultimately decided to go ahead with it. I already bought the GTA5 Special Ed. so I figure I could eBay the new sealed vanilla copy for ~ $50, dropping it to $180 for a brand new 500GB PS3, with an extra month of PS+ thrown in. At least I'll have one if (or more realistically, when) my 120gb PS3 Slim dies. Now I just gotta sell crack or my body or something to replace that $180 that I took out of my PS4 fund...

Is the HD removeable in these? And if they are, does it void anything like the warranty or no? I have no need for a 500GB, so I intend to sell that if I can take it out since I have another one that I can replace it with.

You can remove it, and it does not void the warranty

I would wait...sounds like playstation isn't your thing. You could settle for a $40 blu ray player or use your secondary player. My guess is ps3 bundles will be $150 on bf

I fully expect this to be $200 on Black Friday.
There will almost certainly be special holiday bundles created, which have been $199 + 2 games for the past several years in a row now. The quality of the games are hit and miss. Sometimes great, other times not so much. Not sure we would be guaranteed a 500GB system either, 250GB is probably more likely for the holiday bundle.

So basically if you want this bundle, it's a bit of a gamble to wait for black Friday if you wanted GTA V. Strong chance the GTA V bundle is long gone by then.

I should have asked this too when I first asked about harddrives...the one I intend to replace the 500 with is one from my original 2007 fat BC PS3, are these the same type/size that will fit these newer ones or no. If not guess I'll say screw it and keep it.

I ended up getting it. I don't like buying used consoles otherwise I would have sprung for a cheap Blu-Ray player and a used PS3 after the 4 hits. I still use it for the PSN and I have two games that are PS3-exclusive I want to play so it's not that bad. Once I sell V (I game on my 360) and the 500GB HD it should be a really good deal.

For those of you who have received the PS3 GTA V Bundle from Buy.com, I'd like to know if the PS3 box is concealed in a plain brown cardboard box?

Yes it is, was little concerned that it might get beat up on the trip when the FedEx guy put it down like it was any old package (no fragile warning)

This would be a awesome deal if I didn't already have gta v on the 360....and if I didn't know about the black Friday bundle at GameStop.

I bought it and plan on selling GTA V on ebay bc I already got it for 360... and I don't wanna deal with Black Friday lines.... Just wish there wasn't sales tax! Ugh..

Please don't bump deals that haven't been labelled as *Dead*

It makes CAGs a little angry, and gives them tummy aches. And you wouldn't want your fellow CAGs to get tummy aches would you  :whistle2:(

I'm getting a tummy ache by reading your ignorant post. Not only is the deal still live as I write this but that guy just posted a reply instead of making a whole new thread. When you click in a topic you should read at least the last few posts in order to be informed of what's going on.
