Here is a list of all the current and upcoming Xbox Live Marketplace Sales for the USA. This includes the Deal of the Week, KINECT Central sale item(s), and any other 3rd-party sales or promotions. We have also included the upcoming Xbox Live Arcade releases in the 2nd post. Most sales are for one week. Feel free to post if you see anything not listed here.

Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy anything on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or Paypal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.
  • All known sales and information on sales are in the OP. Major Nelson usually updates us with new sales information every other Tuesday. When offers are validated by Moderators, it will be added to the OP as time permits.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Some sales are intended for GOLD MEMBERS ONLY, as noted within each section.
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What do you mean by GOLD MEMBERS ONLY?
A: GOLD members are paid subscribers to Xbox Live. These deals are only available to them.

Q: I'm an XBOX LIVE FREE member, can I use a 48 hour trial to get the GOLD discount?
A: No. 48 hour codes only work for online play.

Q: What about the promotional GOLD weekends?
A: No. Those only allow online play.

Q: How long is this deal going on?
A: One week (seven days) unless otherwise noted. Most sales in the OP have start and end dates listed.

Q: I'm not seeing the sale price, what is going on?
A: If the deal is live, make sure you are logged-in to Xbox.com or your 360 with a GOLD account. Sometimes there is a disconnect between Xbox.com and the Xbox Dashboard.

Q: When do the deals go live?
A: Deal of the Week deals go live on Tuesday morning usually around 9am EST. (Monday's before 3/22/11)

Q: What about all the other sales and promos?
A: Microsoft has gotten into the habit of offering other sales and promos as well as the Deal of the Week. They are listed in this thread to reduce clutter on the Deals Forum and to help maximize your savings.

Q: Should I have any concerns about waiting to buying something on sale?
A: After a few years of experience with Xbox LIVE, ReddJoey thinks you might want to know:
-Items can be pulled from Xbox.com with little or no notice (Games, Content, DLC)
-If you wait for an item to go on sale, it might never come (and the item(s) could be pulled)
-End dates can be flimsy. This could mean the sale is cut a bit short (RARE) or run a bit over (Happening more often). Don't count on this happening if you are on the fence. You might miss the sale.
-Consider keeping 800-1200 points on reserve for a 1-Day sale. They are rare, but you will kick yourself if you miss it

Q: What if I don't see a sale/promo listed here?
A: Post it or feel free to update the OP, as it is wikified and anyone can edit it.

Q: Are there any other links I should know about?
A: Yes.
CAG Xbox 360 Forum - Discussion on games and lots of gaming groups to join.
CAG Xbox Live Free Stuff Thread - Great thread and discussion of the free things on Xbox Live
CAG Xbox Live Subscription Thread - Great thread about the deals for Xbox Live on the dashboard

Q: What are your sources?
A: Sources:
-Majornelson.com
-Xbox UK DotW
-Xbox US DotW
-Xbox JP DotW
-Spylon's Xbox Live Database
-Various Publications/Blogs

Q: Do you mind if I copy this info and post it somewhere else?
A: Not really, but please respect the hard work that the CAG Community puts into assembling these deals each week, and please mention where you got it from and not just straight copy/paste the posts.

Q: Do you have a list of the older sales?
A: Yes. I'm not sure if it includes every single sale since the beginning of Deal of the Week in 2008 & 2009, but it's pretty comprehensive up until 7/23/2012.

Q: I noticed some talk about "compilation discs?" What is that and is it cheaper?
A: Some of the content from Xbox Live has been put on retail discs. Some discs have XBLA games, others have several pieces of DLC from one game. Depending on what content you are looking for it you might want to consider looking for a retail disc. Some CAGs and ReddJoey have put together this handy list. When an item that can be found on one of these disc goes on sale, a disc vs D/L discussion will likely come up in the thread.

SEMI-IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:

After seeing the majority of you vote that you will be playing Xbox on Halloween, I have decided to create our first-ever community event!

Check the 4th post on the first page for details (in subsequent threads I make, it'll be the 3rd post, as I've decided it'll sit above Impressions, a section that will be set-up after this one).

Since I did not have the time yesterday that I was hoping for, it might be a little.. lacking. This will be remedied in the near future.

For our Halloween event, and all subsequent Community events, we will vote via the topic poll for a main game. The main game will be one the most populated one during the event, and the one most suited for random joins if you cannot assemble a group of our members. Relevant games will also be listed. If you plan on being available for a relevant game, post your GT and game (or private message me) and I will add you to the list. For "relevant games", it'll be mostly up to you guys to coordinate with each other, as we've done in this thread in the past, but hopefully the section will make it easier.

If a game is NOT on the list and you feel that it should be, feel free to post about it. But the list is specifically for games with ONLINE multiplayer modes (co-op/versus). If a title is on the list but not in the poll, there's a good reason (most likely that the title is "too niche" or only supports 2-person multiplayer).

This Halloween event is a test run, so feel free to leave feedback/suggestions. I'm specifically looking for an ideal time to have the main event occur. And don't forget to vote! If you've voted already and it isn't showing up in the current poll, delete your vote and vote again, I had to completly re-do the poll.

If this event is successful, I will consider making this a weekly non-themed thing (unless there's a possible theme), with a poll for the game of the week (most likely games currently on sale, so people have others to play with), and "relevant" games will be any games people are looking for others to play with, and will added to the section accordingly. (It's not even close to the OP, so there's no clutter). Achievement boosting may ALSO be supported.

-The End-

Side-notes: A) These are pretty much the ideas I've had since I came up with the idea of the community section. I just spent this time working on logistics. I was inspired by people posting GTs in the earlier threads and Xbox360Achievements' gaming events. Some of the posts in here have actually touched upon what I wanted to do, coincidentally enough. B) That test poll did NOT go as planned (but that's okay). I actually made that third option for myself as a joke because I wasn't sure if I was going to be in Delaware this Halloween or not, and didn't want to put the "Maybe" option because it would get too many votes. I expected a few joke votes, but over 30% of you wanted to be funny.. which kinda threw everything off, haha. Luckily, the yes votes beat the no votes (and the joke votes) by a large enough margin that I figured they were the winners. C) I actually STILL don't know if I'm gonna be in Delaware tomorrow night or not since I'm not the one paying for the bus ticket. I'd put it off for the sake of the event, but with the aforementioned personal stuff, I really need a vacation there this weekend. If I do end up going to Delaware, I will do my best to set-up the event from afar. Worse comes to worse, the place I'm staying at has a 360.

Copy and pasted from the other thread for those who missed it.

An Introduction to the New Thread:

Alright people, I think I'm ready to make an official announcement, so prepare your butts.

I have been formerly requested by Mr. Tyler himself (who is still mourning his losses, poor guy) to continue this thread in his stead, and I have accepted.

So, you may be wondering what this means for YOU, loyal reader of this thread! Well, it means:

- A new thread (this one was getting large anyways) will be started sometime between tonight and tomorrow (tonight if the prices drop early like they've been doing lately).

- This thread shall be locked, and then cremated sometime around when the new thread is created.

- Until Wikis are permanently fixed (God knows when that'll be), I'll manage the OP on my own, but will most likely participate heavily when it becomes a wiki.

- Since I'm rusty when it comes to BBcode, the OP may have some growing pains, but I will slave over it until it is pretty again. This also means that updates may not be immediate, but since I actually have Tuesdays off from any sort of responsibility, chances are I will update within the day.

- For those of you who care, ACHIEVEMENT NOTES WILL PERMANENTLY RETURN. That's pretty much the only new thing I'll be adding to the OP directly.

- I am thinking of updating the "Impressions" section we currently have, more frequently. But there's a catch, in order for a recommendation to be added, it'll need to reach some sort of "Like" quota. I still haven't quite figured out the particulars, but I think it's a decent idea. Will absolutely take feedback on this aside from "It's just clutter" since it'll remain a separate post.

- We have a very friendly community who comes to this thread (and this one only), and likes to offer to play together semi-frequently. Since posting GTs and such has never received any moderator backlash, I'd like to further promote this type of behaviour. I'm not exactly sure what I want to do, but most likely I will reserve an extra post (so as to not clutter the OP) on the first page in case I figure something out. This is another thing I will take feedback on, once implemented.

- Speaking of moderator backlash, now that the banning waves have more or less ceased (and Microsoft has made its point about foreign marketplace content), foreign pricing discussions will be heavily discouraged. If not because of the possible pruning/nuking by moderators (like what happened over in the freebies section), then to avoid tempting those who are unaware of Microsoft's recent iron fist on the matter. Same reason we don't discuss modding in here. There are plenty of other places to participate in that sort of talk. This talk is not outright banned (as of now), and this decision is not final (Hungarian prices do remain relevant to the Europeans in here). But at the very least, no more discussion about goodies on marketplaces that don't exist, okay? Recent bannings can still be discussed.

I think that about covers everything. I look forward to starting this new era with the lot of you.

End of an era, beginning of a new one.

Thanks tylerh101 for the old thread and BobbyTastic for the new one.

Seriously though, thanks for taking over, Bobby! It sounds like you'll do great with it!

Enumerous thanks to Tyler for the past thread, which was hands down one of the best on CAG!

And huge props to Bobby for taking over the new one, I feel it's in very good hands indeed :)

Mmmmm....new thread smell. Yet, it still has the leftover taint of Microsoft's fucked up banning......oh well, here's to some better deals now that the 360 is on its last legs

Thanks Tyler and Redd for maintaining the old threads and here's hoping that Bobby's tenure is just as great.

Aww shucks, thanks guys!

may bite on R.I.P.D, Reel Steel, and Pacific Rim
I'll probably get R.I.P.D. for the easy 400 GS, and since it's the only game I don't have on sale aside from Transformers & Star Trek.

Pacific Rim is worth $5, I bought a code for that price a while back, don't exactly regret it. The game is huge wasted potential though, and there's microtransactions out the ass. It's pretty much Real Steel, but better.

Don't get too excited for Star Trek. The MSRP in stores is already $20, and it's a fucking disaster. J.J. Abrams said he was ashamed to be involved with that shit at all, despite really wanting to make a video game off one of his works. Here's hoping his next video game project does better.

I hope some more games go on sale. I'm not interested in any of these so far.
I doubt it. Unless some DLC for the games currently listed get included, I think there's enough on sale already. It's gonna be a slow week, but to be fair, we've had a lot of good weeks lately. Hopefully next week will get better.

Since there doesn't seem to be anything else on sale, I think I'll hang up my hat for the night. I will post next week's stuff when MajorNelson posts, and put up the new Rocksmith stuff when the old stuff goes down (to save room).

Hopefully this continues to be the best thread on CAG
I hope so too. ^^;

Nothing for me this week but I like the theme, they should toss some kids movie games in too like Brave or Cars

And so it begins....

As pretty much everyone else has said, thanks Tyler for all the maintaining of the old thread, and thanks Bobby for taking the reigns of the new one!

MW3 should not be listed in last weeks sale, it was a price drop, along with Black Ops. It just happened to be an Activision title at the same time.

Thanks Tyler and Redd for maintaining the old threads and here's hoping that Bobby's tenure is just as great.
This and here is hoping that Major Nelson starts posting the deals regularly again.

Nothing for me this week but it reminds me I wanted to get back into GOME,

Also, I really have enjoyed Clash of Heroes. It has a lot of depth and some unexpected variations to keep it fresh. And my daughter can play/enjoy it too.

Thanks Tyler for all the hard work you poured into the last thread. And thanks to Bobby for picking up the torch. You have big shoes to fill but I'm confident that you will do a great job! Keep up the good work!

Thanks for taking over the thread Bobby, looking forward to more great discussion and (hopefully) more great XBLM deals for a long time to come!

Thanks to everyone who has maintained versions of this thread.

This and the XBL Free Content thread are the only two things I even use on CAG at this point.

What an abysmal sale this week.  Movie Games = Bad Games in almost every case, so having a Movie Games sale ultimately means a Bad Games Based on Bad Movies Sale.

So after giving up on M&M: CoH I went back to playing Magic 2013.  I think I've decided it's very good, one of the better GWG games they've had, and it's only last year's version.  I'm trying to imagine giving away Madden 13 or NBA 2k13 for GWG, and I really can't, so Magic 13 is a pretty cool thing IMO.  Not exactly apples to apples, but close enough, they could have easily given away 12 or something even earlier instead.  If you turned down free Magic 2013, that's too bad for you.

Again I'd like to remind everyone that if you follow MajorNelsoln on Twitter, he's rarely been in his office lately.  And it doesn't look like he's going to be much for the rest of the year, what with the XBox One tour thingy.  So if you're expecting timely posts on new weekly deals, don't.  It'll still be hit or miss.  They probably should have someone else releasing those updates.

Do purchases from xbox.com go into your history properly if you don't download them to a console for a long time?

I got a console ban but my main account escaped. I wasn't planning to get another 360, but since I still have gold for a month and a half I was going to add the games for gold stuff to my purchase history from the site just in case I ever could play them again later on.

well since all these sales suck (i'd recommend xmen arcade i guess) just wanted to chime in on how awesome having a 320gb hd is. my console got banned so i got forced to buy an arcade and i got a cheap 320 off ebay. the 4gb of onboard storage has enough room for allll of my game saves (since i'd rather have them there then on the chinese HD) but suprisingly that extra 70gb of storage lets me hold every single game i've ever bought plus the GFG games. no more fiddling to delete the game i play the least anytime i wanna try something new. that extra little bit makes all the difference, and when GFG inevitably fills that up i still have flash drives i can dump stuff i don't play as much onto.

i went over my data cap in about 6 days though lol i didn't even know i had one with cox, but apparently the 'data cap' email is just a suggestion to upgrade to faster internet, they don't bottleneck you or charge you or anything so it's basically just clever marketing designed to scare you.
