Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth - Etrian Persona - November 25th (US) 2014 (US)

CAGiversary!
http://p-atlus.jp/pq/

Announced on the Persona livestream. It's a crossover game that brings together all of the playable characters from Personas 3 and 4 as they go dungeon-crawling. Uses an SD/Chibi art-style, and looks pretty light-hearted in tone; probably similar to that old SD Snatcher game. Seems like a combination of Etrian Odyssey engine and Persona 4's battle system, since the video showed first-person dungeon-crawling view and 3D battles (with All-in attacks).

EDIT: Hahaha, duckroll in the GAF thread pointed out the reason for the name Persona Q: the Japanese name for Etrian Odyssey (Sekaiju no Meikyuu) is usually shortened to the initials "SQ." This game's initials are "PQ." So, it's pretty much Persona Odyssey.

Another way to romanize Etrian Odyssey's Japanese name is Sekaiju no MeiQ, so that makes sense.

If I remember right, SMT: Strange Journey was done by the Etrian team (or at least used their engine), so I guess that worked out well enough for them to branch out some more.

The Famitsu article is up with some details:

http://www.famitsu.com/news/201311/24043692.html

- Story: During the Yasogami High Cultural Festival, a large clock tower suddenly appears in front of the Investigation Team, and its bell starts to ring. The SEES team also hears the ringing bell while exploring Tartarus, and are transported through time and space, trapped at Yasogami High. To return home, the two teams have to explore the labyrinth and fight shadows to help the two new characters, Rei and Zen, regain their memories.

- You can pick between the Persona 3 Protagonist and the Persona 4 Protagonist as Leader. This choice has an effect on how the story plays out.

- Five characters in battle (3 front row, 2 back row). The battle system has a lot of features from Persona 4 (Summoning Personas, All-in attacks, follow-up attacks).

Edit: It looks like the P3/P4 main characters have Orpheus and Izanagi respectively, so the battle system's probably closer to Etrian Odyssey, with some Persona 4 flourishes.

They'll localize it. Just a question of when. Hopefully it's as fast as SMT IV was, but they have a lot on their plate. 4 Persona games next year, I'll be impressed if we get 3 of the four in 2014. Plus Break record and SMT x Fire Emblem are still in the pipeline, and I doubt that's all Atlus has in store for us.

Stay golden, Atlus.

Moved to Post #11, to keep all the character trailers in one place.

Bunch of new info recently, first a new article was released in Famitsu, Gematsu has the translation and some pictures of the article:

http://gematsu.com/2014/02/persona-characters-can-use-multiple-personas

- There are 20 party members total (SEES, Investigation Team, and Rei/Zen), with 5 active members at a time. Some party combinations have unique dialogue at some story scenes.

- All party members will be able to use multiple personae, their "sub-persona" gives them access to skills their main persona is unable to learn. I'm not sure how they gain their sub-persona, but the article does show screenshots of Chie using Tam Lin, Ken using Jack Frost, someone using Hell Biker, and a Siegfried card.

- A major gameplay feature is the Boost meter for each character. During battle, if a character hits an enemy's weakness, the Boost meter fills up. When full, the character goes into "Boost Mode," which allows them to cast skills at no SP cost. Boost Mode also increases the chance of getting a follow-up attack and/or an all-out attack.

Next, two trailers were put up recently; a bit of a break from the character specific trailers, as these two trailers focus on the entire SEES and Investigation Team respectively. They've been fansubbed already:

Along with stuff for Persona 5, Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, and Dancing All Night. Atlus just put up the US trailer for Persona Q:

Coming Fall 2014. Atlus' description (via Kotaku)

You got Persona in my Etrian! You got Etrian in my Persona! Well, you're right on both counts. Persona Q is a cross-over for the Nintendo 3DS™ system that brings Persona 3 and 4 characters to the gameplay style of Etrian Odyssey. It also marks the first time the Persona franchise will be available on a Nintendo system.

Characters from Persona 3 and 4 have been given a complete visual overhaul to match the Etrian style and plunged into an alternate world resembling Yasogami High School. Legend has it that listening to the end of the bell chimes of Yasogami High's clock tower causes people to die, and this time the bell tolls for the Investigation Team and the SEES. Trapped in an other-world filled with Shadows, the protagonists from Persona 3 and Persona 4 each have different events to follow, allowing the player to choose and experience two different plotlines. As both groups seek a way out of the labyrinth, they will run in to two new characters, Rei and Zen, who may hold the secret to this new mystery.
EDIT: More Famitsu info this week, as they confirm that Persona Q will indeed have dungeon mapping and F.O.Es:

EDIT 2: And it has Auto-mapping, if you don't want to draw your own map:

Can anyone recommend a good place to preorder the Premium Edition that isn't Amazon? They always ship my 3DS LEs in bubble mailers (got extremely lucky with Bravely Default's LE arriving in good condition), and Play-Asia's sold out. I'll place a preorder at Amazon for now, just in case, but will cancel later if there's a better option available.

Nice to see the hard case in there, btw. I was considering importing that on its own. Also, it's odd that the CD isn't part of the regular first-run package this time, like it was in Japan; hope that doesn't become a trend.

Atlus USA started posting the English versions of the character trailers, which means finally hearing the dub voices. Starting with the heroes:

Looks like Nintendo Announced @ Expo that the Persona Q 3ds XL will be coming to US. I'm happy for it, but with them also announcing the Smash Bros & NES styled 3ds XL's my wallet is going to be crying this holiday.

Do you guys think the LE will go up in price like Bravely Default did? I'm thinking of canceling my pre order, but not if its going to be more expensive down the road..

BD LE is not flat as hell i think. I have 3 of them now sitting in my basement.

What sucks looks like going to miss out on this one

Newegg still has not shipped no shock there but BEST BUY just did a Transfer from SHIPPING TO STORE PICK UP. Never seen this.

going to be interesting to see how it plays out

Awww so much fanservice I love it. I finally got out of the first labyrinth and now working on the 1st floor of the second one.

Protip for this game: put Naoto in your party ASAP & keep there for the entire game. Naoto is the only character that has full field light/dark kill skills & the cannon fodder enemies in dungeons are generally weak to one of those.
