Amazon Prime Air

I feel like this would end up like Animal Crossing. Someone sees a package floating by and they'll start whipping things at it to bring it down. It crashes, they collect their reward and scurry off to sell it at Tom Nook's pawnshop.

Seems a little scary to me.  I could just imagine those things dropping packages out of the sky, or just falling out of the sky themselves.  Not to mention people just being dicks and trying to knock them out of the sky & whatnot.

I'm guessing these new laws that they're talking about would put pretty harsh punishments on interfering with unmanned vehicles. And considering that they all have GPS, and most likely cameras, bringing one down without being caught would probably be fairly difficult.

I don't know about that. According to 60 minutes last night, it could be here as soon as 2015 after the FAA regulations and such are sorted out.
I watched the piece. There's just way too many variables for this to ever work. Wind, personal interference, liability.

I'm positive Bezos just showed this to get a ton of free advertising for Amazon on Cyber Monday, and it's a brilliant move. But do I think they actually see the air drones as a viable option? Not a chance.

and how much will this cost for 30 min drone delivery?

I agree some assholes will shot it down just for kicks...  so do you get your money back for lost/stolen items?

If they ever do offer this, I have a feeling it would be extremely limited to low volume items like movies and music.  On top of that, they'd probably be selective in where it could be delivered (upper class neighborhoods).

Wow...this is truly ridiculous, but in a way, I really hope it happens because it would make America insane like Japan and Holland and other places where crazy things are just normal, lol. It's a terrible idea for all the reasons mentioned...but again...I want it to happen.

Even if it were feasible, I can't imagine the cost. They barely want to deliver on Saturdays, and yet they think a 30 minute delivery is possible? At some point, wouldn't it just be cheaper to have B&M stores? Or vending machines with popular items? I guess I'm just not seeing who this is meant for.

Yea. Spy on me all you like Amazon, just give me free shipping. Google already knows the porn I watch, what's it matter if Amazon sees me baiting to it?
Because someone like me could end up getting a job there intentionally for this reason. :joystick: :D/
