Nintendo 3DS XL Mario LE $180 at Best Buy

I guess this one isn't as popular as the Limited Edition Zelda bundle? These seem to actually be in stock and obtainable.

I've seen the Zelda Bundle everywhere but Target...Hardly not obtainable...Just not obtainable for $150.

 
I walked into a Best Buy in Cerritos, California. It was about 10:15 or so and I asked if they had this in stock.  It wasn't on the floor, so an associate walked to the back to check if the UPS truck had come in. Apparently they were unloading a truck with the units. There were about 30 available :)

According to what? You're comparing a bundle that was both announced and released today, to a bundle that released 2 weeks ago. One of those weeks being Black Friday...

In fairness, it was leaked a couple of weeks ago and the pre-release hype and interest here and elsewhere has been far less than the Zelda unit IMHO. While it's anecdotal, I have heard quite a few people lament the fact that Nintendo chose this design for the US over the green and white one with Luigi all over it that Japan and Europe got. I know I would have snapped that one up but this is just too plain looking for my taste.

Yes, but they're also radically different situations too.

Zelda is more unique and truer to the series than this bundle.

Some people don't like the look of this bundle, where as the Zelda bundle at least looks true to the game.

Zelda included a game that released on the same day, where as this bundle includes a several month old copy.

Zelda was discounted to $200 and then $150, while this bundle was not priced.

More people wanted to get the $150 dollar bundle, than wait 2 days and pay $30 more.

Zelda was more common, but also had more hype than the Pokemon 3DS XL's.

So if you're surprised people want to save $30 dollars, get a newer game that will appeal to more people and get it before this bundle even comes out, then I don't know what to say.

whoa....another CAG from cerritos!

now i know who's stealing all my deals ;)

anyways, i struck out on the zelda deal so im tempted to pick this up. im a bigger mario fan anyways, but $180 is a bit steep for me

I actually came from Cerritos during High School! But I'm out in the Torrance/El Segundo radius of shopping ;) It was on the way to work after an appointment, so I figured why not.

I have Zelda as well, and I'm set on that for now.

BTW, just as a note.... As it says on the box, Mario/Luigi Dream Team is *PRE-INSTALLED* on the system. Not a code like the Zelda bundle was.

I am saying that in terms of statistics, interest and intelligence, it's theoretically possible for someone, somewhere to match the deal. However, I am mostly saying that because CAG has recently devolved into a site where if something happens one time out of a million, someone has to post that you're wrong because it happened. Like matching Capcom Unity at BestBuy.

fuck it. Bought 1 with Mario Kart 7 for in-store pickup. $224 total with tax. This is more than I would like to spend right now, but I'm not sure if I will ever find a better deal on this Mario & Luigi 3DS XL. I still haven't bought a Wii-U, PS4, or Xbox One, but I can try to wait a while longer on those.

Did I make a good choice with Mario Kart 7 to hit the $200 mark? It was $31.99 with Gamer's Club Unlocked. Have there been better prices on this game?

If you plan on opening it I'd suggest getting a used copy. Best Buy has B2G1 on Pre-owned games and MK7 is $24.99. Good way to build your 3DS library ;)

 
I picked up a couple mario luigi 3dsxl from Target using the 20% off coupon from this weekend. 152 +tax after coup and red card, just about the zelda LE bundle price. I agree though about the design. When I heard this was coming out I was so stoked when I saw the european release graphics online. This silver one is understated ...definitely not as cool.

You're right. Earlier I tried to really hard to find some used $24.99 3DS games I wanted in stock for in-store pickup but I couldn't find any at any of my stores. I'd get some shipped, but I'm afraid they wont have the artwork. During another B2G1, I ordered 3 mario games and only 1 had artwork.

Luckily, I have a stack of about a dozen 3DS games including a couple other Mario titles. I was just missing Mario Kart 7, but it's still annoying for my CAGness because I hardly ever pay MSRP for anything.

I agree it's too understated, but I like the black and grey color pallet. I don't know if you've seen the back of it yet, but it has a cool little year of luigi emblem on the bottom. The European one looks really cool, but I like the American one more. It's all subjective though.

I waited a while for the 3DS XL to get released and then I figured, "I'll just wait a little bit longer for a mario console." I waited longer than I thought, but at least now there's a pretty great catalog of 3DS games to play.

I know this is subjective but I really like that its understated. As an adult I don't really want to carry around the red or blue and while I love all things Zelda the gold, especially on the inside, really detracts from the system IMO. I watched the YouTube videos over and over trying to convince myself that I wanted the gold one but I couldn't do it. So this one fits me pretty well since it doesn't stand out all that much and I wont feel like a fool when my co-workers see a 40 year old playing with what looks like a toy. I really wish they made a XL that looked like the original Zelda 3DS, the all black with hints of gold on that was beautiful.

As a person five years behind, I can say that the gold doesn't detract... for me at least. I was worried about that as well, but it didn't seem to bother me at all as I used it. I do like the idea of all black with gold accents though - that would have been pretty classy, too.

Though I think with any color, people would think I'd be looking at a compact if they didn't play video games... I keed :)
