Comixology's 12 Days of Free Comics may be over but the Free Comic Books Thread lives.

Seeing as there was currently no thread that covered free regular & digital comics this thread has been converted. It maybe a bit bare as of now but hopeful soon it will bursting with post as it gets more off the ground.

For now you can check out Comixology which still has some other free digital comic books here: http://www.comixology.com/free-comics and other places of the site. Also check out the massive list link that Snowglare put in post #2 & also check out the other posts in this thread.

Here are some other sites that offers/shows free digital comic books available. Some of the comics listed on these sites can also be found on Comixology.

DC Entertainment Free Comics (though many are digital sneak peeks there are still other things mixed in)

http://www.readdcentertainment.com/free-comics

Marvel Free Comics

http://comicstore.marvel.com/free-comics

Dark Horse Free Comics

https://digital.darkhorse.com/free/

Besides the above sites, also check these companies to see if they have apps available because the things available may range or be different then the items listed on these sites.

The comics listed on these sites & apps can range in Maturity & Subject Material so be mindful.

If you have any sites or apps that you know of, please don't hesitant to post.

Updates? Post away, all are welcomed.

I will add some more to this post later.

As of now:

Welcome to the (Under Construction) Free Comic Thread!

I passed on Batman, but I'll be checking this every day, building up my backlog. Lazarus today. Greg Rucka's always worth a look.

They have a ton of free comics, but they're not all easy to find. Don't know why you can't sort by price or just see all the free stuff in the clearly labeled Free section. Bleeding Cool put up a massive list back in March. Some of those are no longer free, most still are.

Thanks for the heads-up about the massive list. I will definitely check it out later. I agree that it is kind of weird that they don't have a better way of sorting than they have. Maybe they just haven't got around to it, a lazy programmer or some other reason.

So...I miss Batman #13 but I'm here for My Little Pony? *sigh*

The easiest way to find free comics is to check the app. Go to Publishers click any publisher and scroll to the bottom, there will be a list of free comics. Image has a lot of good #1's, DC has some good stuff but you have to scroll through a lot of their weekly previews. Some of the smaller publishers have quality stuff also. Marvel has just a few things but every week they seem to toss up a few random issues, recently Captain America 25 and 442 were there for a week and right now there's an Iron Man and Speculator Spider-Man. For some reason you can not really find free stuff on the website easily. I actually went a bit nutty when Marvel gave away the 700 #1's and downloaded a ton of other free stuff.

Thanks for the heads-up about the app but just my luck, the easy way is not available for the devices I own. They really do need to change there website & add a sort by price option. I did however check on the Iron Man, Spider-Man, Captain America comics since you said some were free and found some plus some others through random searches (Comics of all different ratings. Some Mature & Some Not Mature.).

"Share Your Universe" comics(Most are Free): http://www.comixology.com/search/items?search=Share+Your+Universe&subType=Issues

America's Army #1-8 (Seems to be sponsored by the US Army) http://www.comixology.com/search/items?search=america%27s+army&subType=Issues

Also, Searched for Free Comic Book Day & FCBD and found some more though some of these have a price now.

Free Comic Book Day Search: http://www.comixology.com/search/items?search=free+comic+book+day&subType=Issues

FCBD Search: http://www.comixology.com/search/items?search=FCBD&subType=Issues

Found the above (some which seem to be permanently free while others seem to be temporarily free) by just doing random searches for free comics on the website. Figured out a trick for locating the free comics when you're searching for random searches for things/topics/names/etc on the website: Typing random whatever you're looking for in the search area, press enter, click view all (issues-seems to have alot if not all there) on the search result page. On the next page press ctrl + f & type in free, this works especially well on big pages (saves you the time of going line for line). Though it appears that way is not completely fool-proof since I found a comic that should been in one of my random search result in another one.

After finding all of the above comics, seeing comics listed in the massive list posted by Snowglare in the post #2, reading what vicktor said in post #18 & from knowing that Comixology has free comics every now & then. Also, the fact that they have Free Comic Book Day every year & that there might be other site that offer free comics as well, etc. I think I might after the last comic, December the 20th, goes from free to paid again, maybe I'll convert this thread's topic from the current (Comixology's 12 Days...) to "The Free Comic Books Thread" or something along those lines. Since I don't believe there was a thread that covered all free comics in this section before. I think it would be nice to have one focused thread where people could post about free comics from all different sources.

I support this initiative.

Thanks for the new links. I picked up the Superman Wedding Album so I can remember the DC Universe as it should be. Supes/Lois forever.

Hmm, today's selection doesn't seem to be purchasable; I only see an option to read it.
You may have somehow got it before than, since the only option was read. As far as I have seen so far, that usually happens when it part of your collection already of the site.

Updated with today's comic info.

Ah, yes. I'm sure you're right. Most likely part of the massive Marvel #1s promotion.

Decided to look up some more random terms, so here's more free comics & other things I found:

There is probably an android emulator for PC out there. Might be a useful thing to have, I know there's a few things that only have android apps I would hate to be without. I hate the Comixology website, it is awful...like it was designed in 2004, the app is decent. Except on Wednesday, it's quicker for me to go to the website, get what I want then go to purchases on the app and download. For some reason the darn thing doesn't load for me on Wednesdays. Old phone was Gingerbread and 3g and the new one is Jellybean and 4g, same speed with either on Wednesdays.

I like the idea of changing this to a free Comixology thread. We could re-title it: Hey! Free Comics! or something like that.

I'm rather lazy and won't list everything I see free, but I'll at least list whenever I grab something free. I'll put a list of what's free with Marvel, some of these may not be in the Comixology store. Marvel sometimes has issues that are only free on their app (which is a skinned Comixology app). Those issues I can't get because they say my password and e-mail are incorrect, the e-mail I receive Marvel updates from *sigh* So...anyway, fee comics (all issue one unless indicated):

Amazing Spider-Man

I recommend Amazing Spider-Man #595, written by Joe Kelly, the comic is hilarious. Here's one bit between Parker and Jameson:

Jameson: I can see why you'd want to preserve that fine jacket. Goodwill or dumpster diving?

Parker: Satan's closet actually. Hanging next to your soul.

I'm tired so if any of that is rambling or doesn't make sense point it out and I'll correct it later.

The free section used to have a listing of every free comic book on the site.  I'd go through it periodically but that no longer exists.

Updating comic info abit late today but the final day of the 12 days of free digital comics has arrived & this thread will be changed to the Free Comic Books Thread (Title Pending) after it's through. I see vicktor suggested maybe the title being "Hey! Free Comics!", so I was wondering if there was any other suggestions for the title?

It should be a general "FREE Comics" thread, in my own opinion. Don't make it just Comixology because Marvel has also released a lot of these comics thru their app. Some of which are only FREE thru their system and others that are not (or are no longer) part of the Comixology database. I know for a fact that Harley-Davidson Avengers #1 (and I think #2) is FREE on the Marvel app storefront but are no longer in the Comixology database

The Hey! Free Comics! is a riff on the old spinner racks with Hey Kids! Comics! Although I'm not sure how many of you are old enough to remember that.

The Marvel in-app stuff might be available on Comixology too. I saw the Craftsman DC Comic on the DC app and had to have it, it wasn't available on the Comixology yet after I added it to the DC App it was in my purchases on Comixology. There is a way to sync the Marvel App to Comixology (on the website go to my account then Marvel Sync). I am not sure if that works because my tells me my password is wrong but when I reset the password it never shows up in my e-mail account. Someone else could take that for a swing.

I do agree the thread should be more than just Comixology, Dark Horse has their own app and had a bunch of free stuff a few months ago.

Finally the comics I got free today:

Punisher War Zone #1 (The one written by Greg Rucka)

Daredevil End of Days #1

Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe #1

Motorcycle Samurai A Very White Bolt Christmas

Agree. That's why I never said this thread would be focused on just free comics from Comixology but on all free comics, digital & the occasionally physical ones (including talking about things available/received during Free Comic Book Day, etc). Though I can understand the confusion since this thread was more heavily focused on Comixology because of the 12 days of free comics from them.

I have edited & added some other sites and other things to the OP. Plan on adding some pictures later to the OP as well because I don't really care for having just a wall of text in the OP.

Thanks for the information OrchestratedHtz & for the extra information and update about what you found vicktor. I will check out the stuff you mentioned in your posts.

Looking forward to any future updates. For now, I think I'll keep the "Under Construction" part of the title until I change a few more things in the OP.

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays Everyone! Hope you have a good one. :D

I use to see those racks at convenience stores. I remember getting some DC bundles and the occasional Archie comic. Closest rack I see now is at Barnes and Noble holding calendars and squeak louder than ever (that is if you have enough strength to turn them).

Thanks for keeping this thread going. I completely forgot about Dark House comics and plan on downloading their app later today.

I got it to work a little bit ago, as the Superior Spider-man codes that came with the issues that I redeemed are now showing up in my comics section of Comixology.

Might want to see if you are using the wrong email or it's in the spam folder, as that's what I realized after 10 minutes.

Went ahead and linked my Marvel account to my comiXology account. Everything worked the first time so I went to check on the Harley-Davidson Avengers mini-series.... They were removed from the comiXology databse for whatever reason but still showed up in my collection since I linked the 2 accounts. I suggest anyone who keeps up on Marvel's FREE comic drops thru their app, to sync with comiXology.

Yay! New Comic Wednesday! On Tuesday!

I figured that syncing Marvel and Comixology would work the same as DC, but I find it odd there's stuff not available on Comixology you can get on there. Now on to my password woes. Funny enough I get the newsletter in this email and did not notice a reset password in the spam folder. I had been trying from the website, I decided to try from the android app, turns out the website and the app go to different pages to recover the pass...strange. Put in my email and got it in seconds. They don't send a reset, they send your password and the strangest part, it was my usual password...backwards? Very very strange. Now off to sync my accounts and add the comics a friend gave me that came with the Wolverine Blu-Ray, Free comics! Annnnnnnnd the code is invalid, strangely this is the code that came with First Class (expired! Another reason to hate digital content) and she didn't get the Wolverine code...crazy man. Well enough of my lame troubles...free comics!

Marvel:
Black Widow #1 (was already free with the 700 Marvel #1 promotion)
