If anyone uses it, you have probably noticed that ads are now coming through..  I personally believe ads SHOULD come through on YouTube as alot of video creators could use the extra cash (I myself am one of them) but I believe it should be optional .  But the real annoying part that AdBlock blocked for me was the ads that would take u to websites that wont let you leave or make you download something etc.. 

What are your thoughts?

 
I think too many malicious ads have been allowed on trusted sites, regardless of good intentions.  I'd rather protect myself vs deal with formatting a HDD.  Highly recommend noscript as well; 6-7 years now and zero viruses so I must be doing something right!

Oh and if you're seeing ads, refresh your definitions from the addon page.  It's usually good about keeping the blocked sites updated, but on rare occasion doesn't.

I don't allow any ads at all. For the same reason that Jodou speaks about.

I aswell understand the importance of blocking malicious ads but YouTubers do need income too, but regardless I will try to update my definitions .. Thanks for the tip!

I hear you but I would much rather donate than be subjected to ads for user made content.

I've yet to ask for donations myself but yet some ppl go out of their way to make them.

I like to donate to the things that cater to my wants and sensibility. I rather be a donor than a customer or consumer. I believe it's step up and gives you a little more interaction with what's out there vs tradtional retail methods.

 
You know, while we're on the subject of advertising on youtube, I'd HIGHLY recommend blocking them right now until the content ID system is revoked or revised.  They're wrongfully crediting advertising revenue to companies with a blanket censor of user created content that are protected under fair use.  Those cocksuckers at youtube have really gone too far this time and honestly, I wish a new champion would rise because youtube has outlived their usefulness as a service provider.  I'm not even affected by the changes and I'm furious.  I know what it's like to have a video taken down under copyright claim because companies abuse the DMCA to get their way and it's not right.

I just saw AJS's video upon this .. and I thought it was just me.. But yeah every video I upload gets claimed so I have to dispute every upload.... Which is annoying but the content is the important thing. Too bad I don't get many views or likes or comments haha..

 
I don't watch AJ, but I saw his rant.  At first it seems like he's just nerd raging but pretty quickly you can tell he's in pain.  The kind of pain you feel having just broken up with a girlfriend.  It's too bad anonymous isn't still around because I'd love to see them try and take down youtube.

Show them how it feels to have something ripped from you.

I'm with Jodou, AdBlock Plus and NoScript.

What sucks is that most people won't deal with NoScript because you have to be proactive and that laziness helps to keep me paid when I inevitably end-up fixing their machine.

Oh and if you really wanna stick it to YouTube over this Content ID nonsense then also add Video DownloadHelper to that list. It'll let you download most anything which streams in the quality of your choosing. I use it all the time for Quick Looks and such as it lets me play in my player where I can apply volume normalization etc.

 
I use adblock plus. It seems to stop most ads aside from those small ads that popup at the bottom of videos. Which I just click out of them right away. I know some people rely on these ads, but I never pay attention to ads anyways, so I don't see a point in not using adblock plus.
