Not sure if this is the right place for this post.... Walmart is selling the 160 GB iPod Classic for $229, I plan on PMing at Best Buy (for the points and b/c its closer). Should I buy it at this price? I'm leaning towards yes, just want some feedback/alternatives. Thanks in advance!
(In it for the capacity mostly, I have an 80GB Zune that is conking out, need to replace it)

If you want to use your Ipod for pretty much just music and small picture movies and have a lot of either yeah its good, still works and charges in most older ipod docks in cars, my stereo dock cable for my car only charges on older iphones and ipods, plays music just fine

Thanks ProfessorSnake (see what i did there). I have an iphone 4 so the touch wasn't as appealing considering the hd size and potential for other apps to fill it up. Only concern is possible price drop, but i think i'm right in doubting there will be one, right?

I have the classic 160gb 7th gen about a year ago and only used about 21 gigs of space for music. It's great for just  music, but I prefer the ipod touch/iphone music player when scrolling through songs since I can scroll through information faster.

I got it when it was $229 on amazon, but currently it is $263, so the $230 price is not that bad.

But you can get the ipod touch for like, 190$....
well, not sure if you read the spoiler but I am interested in the HD size, and owning a iphone takes away some of the appeal for a touch

the price is actually $229.

I just looked at my Zune 80 GB and I have around 70 GB used so i think that the 160 GB is the best bet, as my music collection will only increase.

Have you considered an iPod touch and a cloud music service? AFAIK spotify let's you sync any music through the app for which they don't have the license for (provided you have the mp3 of said song), also the offline playlist mode essentially functions as a music downloader of sorts.

Or perhaps a deactivated high capacity android phone with external memory support, the cost is probably higher but that's another option IMO

I got mine I think 2 years ago?  I love mine though.

Checking iTunes I have 93.62 GB of music right now (If I pressed play and came back in 40.5 days it would just be finishing the library) so still have a lot of space left obviously.

It's basically a hardrive with a color screen on it.  To me the battery life in the iPod classic sucks.  By life I mean times you can recharge it before it just doesn't hold a charge very well.  I only use it in the vehicle though and to put more music on it so I can keep it plugged in most always without issue.

For music and some videos (they'll get fitted to a full screen, even if you watch widescreen video), it's pretty spectacular. I've had a 120GB Classic Gen 4 or 5 (dunno which) since it released and the worst it has is cosmetic scratches and scuffs. I've kept it in a plastic casing all these years and it still works great.

Just pay heed to the hard drive inside. The one that worked wonders is a replacement I got when the first one I got was crashing its hard drive inside.

I currently have a 80 gig ipod classic and only use it in my car and sometimes at work.  I chose the classic because I didn't need any web functions, apps or a huge large screen.  The value is more so on the battery life and toughness the old ones had.  I play my music from it in my car and sometimes watch a movie or two through it on my indash.  I have 72 gigs used but that's only because i deleted a couple movies.

It is time for me to get a bigger one, so I will be checking to see if any of my local ones have any.
