Bestbuy just added a B2G1 for Platinum Hits games (which are Xbox 360 games).

Now while it may say platinum hits, I don't think there is a difference for SKU's or for NON platinum hits, so you may get the black label edition if they have it.

MANY games, too many to list for now but GOOD DEAL especially with GCU

God damn it I bought L4D2 at GS in a B2G1 sale six months ago, thinking it could be hard to find in the future. FAIL.

If you plan on using L4D2 as a filler, it is at least still worth something on eBAY sealed.

Valve game... hard to find? Lol your silly. But yeah in all seriousness, besides very very few exceptions, you should just as a rule of thumb assume gamestop is overcharging for ANY game, and ALWAYS check other sources first. When Mass Effect 2 was coming out, I was in store and going to pick up the first to beat and finally finish. They had used copies marked at like $45 or $50... Every time there is a b2g1 at gs and people freak out I shake my head, they end up paying more USED than they can get the game for NEW.

I am trying to decide what to get, as with GCU on top, even with tax, each game normally $20 breaks down to about $11.33 each. I am THINKING I might pair something with halo wars, as that one is essentially the GOTY version, and It might be time for me to pick it back up (I was a BEAST at that game).

In my defense, it was hard to find for a little while, when I bought it eBay prices were pretty high.

I panic easily for local co-op campaign games (because there are so few of them), single player games I have infinite patience on waiting for prices to become dirt cheap.

Really hoping they do this with the PlayStation Greatest Hits stuff next week.

A moderately spec'd PC can run both of these games and they are much more interesting on that platform. If you can run them on PC, I'd pick them both up in one of the frequent Steam sales for less than $5 each. Much better experience.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have high end PCs but needed the console version for the campaign local co op with my wife.

Ya these prices are too high for my taste. $10 per game i would jump on, but this is too much. A pass for me.

Thanks OP! I used this to re-purchase 3 of my 4 favorite games ever. Can anyone guess what the 4th is?

Oblivion
Fallout 3
Fallout New Vegas

This deal was cheaper than buying the regular versions and the remaining DLC I don't have for them.

Unfortunately, two of the games aren't available for shipping, but they were both in stock close to me. The third game isn't in stock there, so I had it shipped to me (it's still free shipping, because it goes by the entire order's price)

,,, Morrowind?

I am sorry I loved oblivion too, but morrowind just beats it in my eyes.

Yeah though a lot of these aren't available for shipping, but most if not all stores should have plenty of inventory of the platinum hits games.

Superman 64?

Perfect example of this is how the CoD games go down in price in the spring and go back up heading into fall.

Also I remember getting a copy of ME1 with the collectors case for $18 before PUR a year or so before ME3 released. By the time ME3 released they were charging $30 for a used copy of ME1. Now it's back down to $10-15.

Would rather be this was in-store.

Or I finally feel motivated to order something online from Best Buy, banking on using Best Buy gift cards. (

Still have that $15 gift card from a previous BB deal. Probably buy another $25 gift card to offset the difference.

I'd so get:  Left 4 Dead 1, L4D2, and Dead Space 2.

Oh I guess I missed that in the L4D games on the console. Couch coop is always a good thing. Too bad it's such a dying mode :(

My thoughts exactly. If I want to play coop with someone I want them to be within arms reach of me so I can hit them when they do something stupid.

But really though. The rise of online gaming only reinforces the notion of gamers being in a basement all by themselves but now they have headsets (expensive headsets dammit!) To communicate to others in the outside world with. I get video games are a digital realm but I appreciate the human element of gaming as well.

There was nothing in the world like 4 people playing Super Smash Brothers in the same room growing up. Or even Halo marathons with your friends on weekends in the same room for team matches.

I miss that stuff. I'm not a fan of all this online gaming stuff. I know there is a huge market for it obviously but it doesn't appeal to me at all.

Amen, brother.

All BB deals can be had in-store unless it says "online only". If it doesn`t ring up automatically just have them pm it. The last time they did this deal it was in-store too.

I feel you guys with the couch-coop a new timesplitters game & a good 007 multiplayer would be amazing. 4 player split screen combined with online.

Why are companies phasing out couch co-op anyways? Whats so bad about having both the ability to play with friends in your living room AND strangers online? Makes zero damn sense to me.

Not only does GameStop overcharge, but they half the time try to pawn off the idea that you're simply getting a "used" game, rather than a game with no case or manual and with a disc that is likely scratched up and that has had little care given to it. All for the discounted prices of $17.99. What a deal.

I boycott GameStop, period.

There`s some misguided companies that really believe they can do what COD does sales wise. And that focus on sales vs reality it what dooms them they should just do what`s best for their respective games w/o looking to be something they`re not.

I don't have experience in coding games, but I can't imagine local co-op being significantly hard to add since the programmer would reuse a large amount of the code for the primary player. Storywise it could be tricky, but for games like Gears of War and Borderlands, it just makes perfect sense.

I think it just boils down to there isn't a demand for it. If there isn't a big demand, even the smallest effort to incorporate such a old school feature would be deemed unnecessary.

I always imagine playing Last of Us in co-op with my wife, must be a terrific experience.

What you said typically do not affect CAGs. CAGs use GameStop to get filthy rich, and way, way, way ahead of their dirty tactics.

Even more sinister they could be looking at like if the game is so good they can make more people buy it just to play w/friends and have the experience.

One of the things that I keep seeing happen are statements from companies with unrealistic sales goal & when they "flop" it`s why didn`t the fans support it. Tomb Raider was a recent example I don`t understand how some companies think they can 8-10 million cross platform when it`s so obvious 5 million LT is more realistic.

While granted I haven't been a CAG for too long, at least as a member of this forum, I have definitely been a CAG in spirit for the past 10 years. I understand where you are coming from, however I find that there are very few actual deals you can find at GameStop compared to other outlets. Just my opinion. Thank you for the respectful discourse.

This crossed my mind and given the culture of greed fostered in the industry these days, it wouldn't shock me one bit if this was the primary reason for killing off couch co-op.

What I have read is that it uses up your hardware resources much more than single player does. Most games don't leave enough to add another player.

Everything costs money. Even if you could just clone the code (which it isn't that simple), you still have to QA everything. Why spend an extra dime if the majority don't care?

Plus as the guy above me mentioned, you are using more console resources.

I like couch co-op myself but I see why companies just abandoned it.

it forces the 2nd/3rd/4th players to buy extra copies if they want to play. You just can't show up at a buddy's house who has the game if you want to play it.

And yes.

But doesn't stop a "minority" like me from whining and bitching about it. :booty:

It does? How?
Looks like other people explained it, but I'll consolidate all the explanations. Adding same screen multiplayer requires tons of specific optimizations. With single player you only have to render one camera and the game is tuned to that, add a split-screen and now you're rendering two cameras. Each camera doubles your overhead unless each player is looking at the exact same stuff (which would be rare). In order to get this working a team of programmers AND artists need to be paid to specifically optimize for split-screen. On top of that, you now need to pay testers to test split-screen and holy shit can things go horribly wrong (I worked QA on Gears of War 2, so I'm very familiar with the bugs split-screen can generate).

There's shortcuts that can be made to fast track this stuff (like restricting player 2 to the space player 1 is in), but these shortcuts typically result in bad experiences that will negatively impact reviews. The sad truth is this stuff is very expensive to get in to a game when only a small portion of gamers will appreciate it or utilize it.

Cool thanks for the insight.

Now what about top-down games like Diablo 3 or platformers like Rayman Legends? Do you see those kind of local co-op experiences going out the door as well? From a design standpoint it seems like those types of couch co-op games are easier to develop compared to what you described.
