PS3 controller official or not

CAGiversary!
Hello everybody quick question: I want to buy a PS3 controller for my PS3 & found this

http://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Controller-PS3-Gold/dp/B008P9IO2Y/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1389988874&sr=8-5&keywords=ps3+controller

It is really cheap but not official from Sony. So I was wondering if I should buy it or should I go with an official controller. I don't want it to break in a couple of months so. So overall should I buy PS3 controller from Sony only or are non-sony made controllers any good?

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't touch this with a 10 ft pole:

I own one. First things first. Its not wireless. Won't hold a charge so you have to have it plugged in at all times. The usb cable that came with it is extra long, but it stopped working after a few weeks so I had to start putting it on a normal sized usb cable. The analog sticks are very stiff, but that could just be my controller. If you're looking to just get throw away controllers for your kids, then these work great. Buying it for yourself, stay very far away.

Definitely. Or at least 3rd party companies that have established themselves a bit, such as Nyko, PDP (Afterglow), and Madcatz. Even with them though, I would always look up the reviews on them.

I've always mentioned this when the topic of third party PS3 controllers come up, but check out your local Ross stores, I've routinely found wired and wireless (mainly wired) PS3 controllers for around $12-$15.  I personally don't have experience with their quality, but I recommended that to a few family members, and I haven't heard any complaints yet with their controllers.  Best thing is if you don't like how it feels, you can always return it.

Ross used to be the best place to get cheap decent 3rd party Gamecube controllers (around $5), and the ones I've gotten there are still holding up today (not as well as 1st party, of course).

Where are you located? I've never heard of Ross. And it sounds like I wished we had some in Ohio.

I'm in AZ, though know that Ross are like discount department stores, taking in unsold stock from places like Macy's, JCPenneys, and the like. They mainly focus on clothes, but they have a small electronics section that I visit from time to time.

I know there are other similar stores like TJ Maxx and Marshalls, though I've always had the best luck from Ross.
